Chapter 65: 65. Picnic.

At first glance, one might wonder why the beautiful wolfkin was so glued to her husband right now, when he had clearly been spending the last three days with her.

However, the answer to that question was quite simple, because aside from the fact that Austin had been pampering his wife nonstop with amazing massages, he had also been cooking for her specifically, and Nora was genuinely impressed with his cooking.

Never could she have imagined that her beloved Austin was actually a master chef.

After all, she had grown up with him and had never once seen him step into the kitchen before, much less hold a cutting knife.

However, to her surprise, his cooking was simply otherworldly.

Little did she know that Austin only knew how to cook this well thanks to his cooking talent, which had recently improved.

In other words, it was purely thanks to his system.

Anyways, his cooking and massaging skills weren’t the only things that had made Nora fall for Austin even more.

Another reason was that just that morning, Austin had given Nora a pair of white gold necklaces and bracelets.

These immediately made the wolfkin extremely happy, because naturally, as a lady, Nora was drawn to jewellery like everyone else, so to see her beloved man giving her not one but two pieces made her really happy.

Austin had also asked a seamstress to take Nora’s measurements three days earlier, and thanks to the power of gold coins, the seamstress had been able to focus on making Nora new clothes, despite still having a queue of other clients waiting for theirs.

And right now, Nora could be seen dressed in an elegant dress made of silk that looked expensive and felt soft to the touch. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

But that still wasn’t the reason why Rowena and Tatiana were smiling right now.

For Rowena, she was smiling at how Austin held his little baby in one hand while a small music box played on his lap.

The music box was currently playing a soothing tune that had caught the Countess’s attention, and Rowena couldn’t help but smile even more at the sound it made.

Meanwhile, the dragon lady was smiling for a completely different reason.

For one reason or another, Tatiana couldn’t take her eyes off Nora’s necklace and bracelet.

Of course, she wasn’t going to steal them.

Instead, she simply admired how shiny and pretty they looked.

But she couldn’t deny the budding desire within her to have something like that in her own possession as well.

However, Tatiana shook her head before asking Austin.

"Where exactly are we going?"

Austin had only mentioned that they were heading out today.

But as to where, he hadn’t told her yet, so Austin smiled as he revealed why and where they were going.

Nora and Rowena already knew about the picnic, but neither of them knew exactly where it would be taking place, so they were both curious about where they were heading.

Time passed, and the carriage rolled steadily along the dirt path.

The sound of the wheels crunching over the ground mixed with the occasional birdsong drifting in through the open window, while Austin remained seated with Luna cradled gently against his chest.

Looking down at the cute little pupcake in his arms, Austin watched as Luna’s tiny fingers curled instinctively around the fabric of his shirt, whilst still asleep and clearly undisturbed by the gentle rocking of the carriage.

Nora, on the other hand, remained seated next to him with her shoulder pressed lightly against his, while Rowena and Tatiana sat across from them, both staring out at the passing scenery.

It didn’t take long before the carriage came to a stop, and Austin peered out the window to take in their destination.

Right in front of him was a wide lake stretching out before them.

From where he sat, the surface of the lake seemed to glimmer under the late morning sun, and Austin could clearly see the scattering of large trees lining the grassy riverbank.

Their branches offered a generous patch of shade, and the soft sounds of insects and rustling leaves filled the air.

"We’re here." Austin announced as he stepped down from the carriage, whilst being careful not to jostle his cute little princess in his arms.

As for how Austin already knew about this place, that was thanks to a little tour he had taken around Rowena’s territory a few days earlier.

Since he needed to find the perfect spot for a picnic, he had made sure to scout it out himself.

And right now, he could only hope the ladies liked this spot just as much as he did.

Thankfully for him, Nora loved it.

"It’s beautiful." The cute wolfkin muttered as she climbed down after him whilst her eyes took in the sight of the sparkling lake.

Rowena followed next, as she straightened the front of her dress before glancing around at the clearing.

"I have to admit, it’s truly beautiful. I honestly didn’t expect you to pick a place as nice as this."

"What? So you thought I’d just drag you all out here to sit in a field somewhere?" Austin teased, and Rowena replied as the corner of her mouth curved upward.

"Well, since it was called a picnic, that’s what I expected."

Noticing the smile on her lips, Austin simply rolled his eyes with a smile of his own.

Meanwhile, Tatiana had already wandered a few steps ahead.

Her crimson eyes scanned the entire lake as she took in a deep breath whilst her hands rested on her hips.

"Hmm~ it’s quiet here. I like it."

"Good, because we’re going to be here for a while."

Seeing that all three ladies liked the spot, a huge sigh of relief escaped his lips, and he could finally focus on what really mattered right now.

And so, with that out of the way, Austin began unpacking the blankets from the back of the carriage before laying them out across the grass in the shade of the largest tree he could find.
