I'm in Senior Year, and the System Says I'm Going on a Blind Date with My Childhood Sweetheart
Chapter 117 - 106: One Sofa, Two People
The two class periods flew by as he did some butt clenches and squeezed a hand gripper.
Shen Yuan looked at the extra time added to his system mission and was in a great mood.
And when he thought about what was coming next, his mood got even better.
The bell rang, and as soon as the teacher left the classroom, Shen Yuan shot to his feet.
"Young Master Li, the usual?"
Shen Yuan arched an eyebrow. "I’ll get the snacks."
Li Zhi nodded. "I’ll get the drinks!"
But as soon as the words were out, Li Zhi shot Shen Yuan a warning glare.
"Don’t you dare buy any wasabi-flavored snacks! Or I’ll show up at your house in tears!"
Shen Yuan’s mouth twitched.
It was a prank he’d pulled on Li Zhi when they were kids.
He had sneakily placed a pack of wasabi-flavored crackers in their pile of snacks, and an unsuspecting Li Zhi had fallen right into the trap.
And was promptly reduced to tears by the overwhelming wasabi flavor.
Although the incident ended with Li Zhi running in tears to tattle to Shen Yuan’s mom, it also resulted in her current deep-seated aversion to anything wasabi-flavored.
And as for Shen Yuan’s fate in that story? What else could it be but a good old-fashioned beating?
Whether it was women’s singles, men’s singles, or mixed doubles depended entirely on his parents’ mood at the time.
"Let’s not dredge up the past. I’m not that into pranks anymore."
Shen Yuan waved his hand dismissively, as if to say the past was best left forgotten.
"You loved pranks as a kid, and now you just love being a pain," Li Zhi retorted sarcastically.
Shen Yuan forced a strained smile.
After packing their things, the two started on their way home.
As for the snacks, Shen Yuan planned to buy them after he got home and had lunch.
’You can’t just sit down to a movie right after a big meal, can you?’
’That’s a recipe for indigestion!’
’Besides, even if they were young and had big appetites...’
’...if you’re full from a meal, you won’t have room for snacks during the movie!’
’I want my meal, and I want my snacks, too. It’s possible to have both.’
’It’s a three-hour movie. What’s the rush?’
’Might as well take our time.’
After lunch, the two went their separate ways.
Taking advantage of a break in the rain, Shen Yuan rode his electric scooter to a nearby shopping street. As for Li Zhi...
...the young lady strolled leisurely to the refrigerator in her home and pulled it open.
As the door opened, a blast of cool air washed over her, refreshingly crisp.
The internal light flickered on, illuminating two shelves packed with all sorts of drinks.
Bottles and cans stood in dazzling rows—sodas, juices, you name it. It was like a miniature beverage aisle.
Li Zhi stood before the open fridge, carefully surveying the selection.
Her gaze swept over each bottle, a satisfied smile spreading across her face.
"Old Li is still a reliable guy, huh!"
With that, Li Zhi gently closed the refrigerator door and turned to leave the kitchen.
However, the moment she stepped out of the kitchen, her eyes met those of Old Li, who was sitting on the sofa. They looked at each other, and it seemed they both knew exactly what the other was thinking.
Li Zhi walked over to the sofa and sat down.
Old Li smiled. "Got any plans for later?"
Li Zhi nodded. "I invited Shen Yuan over to watch a movie. *Oppenheimer*. Just getting some drinks."
Old Li grunted, his expression turning a bit mischievous. "Want a real drink?"
Li Zhi blinked.
The father and daughter stared at each other.
Finally, Li Zhi was the one to ask the million-dollar question.
"Old Li, are you really comfortable leaving your daughter alone in a room with Shen Yuan?"
Hearing this, Old Li shook his head without a moment’s hesitation.
Seeing his reaction, Li Zhi rolled her eyes in resignation. "Well, there you go. I’ll just grab two cans of Coke, then. Soda is fine. If that’s not enough, we’ll figure it out later. We’ll see what kind of food Shen Yuan brings back."
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she quickly asked, "Oh, right, do you want to watch with us later?"
Old Li shook his head again. "I’ve already seen it. Watched it with your mom, you know. Oh, and speaking of which, your mom and I have to head out a little after one. It’s about your grandpa."
When Li Zhi heard that, her mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
’Great. A guy and a girl, all alone in the same room!’
She grumbled to herself, ’If I’d known this was going to happen, I never would have invited Shen Yuan over.’
A little after 12:00, the doorbell rang at Li Zhi’s house.
Li Zhi opened the door to find Shen Yuan standing on the doorstep.
"Ta-da!!"
Shen Yuan held up both hands, showing off a bag of duck necks and some other snacks.
"Let’s get this party started!"
Shen Yuan, moving with practiced ease, began setting up the study.
This wasn’t his first or second time here; he didn’t need any instructions from Li Zhi and just got straight to it.
He turned on the air conditioner, set up a small table, laid out the snacks, prepared a trash bag, drew the curtains, pulled down the projector screen, and switched on the projector.
Shen Yuan opened up Bilibili and found *Oppenheimer*.
Just then, Li Zhi walked in with two cans of Coke.
The study in Li Zhi’s home was the size of a typical spare bedroom, about ten square meters.
After accounting for a large computer desk and a small sofa, the available space was actually quite limited.
Of course, whether it was limited was beside the point; it was usable for now, and that’s what mattered.
The key issue was, there was only one small sofa.
It was perfectly fine when mother and daughter were snuggled up together watching a movie, but now, the other person was Shen Yuan.
This problem was also easy to solve.
A visitor should be treated as a guest, but Shen Yuan didn’t count.
Li Zhi’s original plan was to just have Shen Yuan sit on the rug. That way, the two of them wouldn’t have to fight over the sofa.
