I'm in Senior Year, and the System Says I'm Going on a Blind Date with My Childhood Sweetheart
Chapter 98 - 94: One Umbrella is Enough
"Alright, alright."
After Shen Yuan and Li Zhi put on their raincoats in the classroom, Shen Yuan was still the one holding the umbrella.
"Zhizhi, aren’t you bringing an umbrella?" Just as He Zhiyu finished asking, she saw Shen Yuan wave Li Zhi over.
"Let’s go."
Li Zhi nodded, then turned to He Zhiyu and said, "I’m going with him. One umbrella is enough for the both of us."
Seeing this, He Zhiyu knew a sweet moment was coming.
The little author’s keen senses immediately kicked in. She hurried to follow, not forgetting to drag the student council president, Zhuo Peipei, along with her.
The wind howled, carrying raindrops that shot through the hallway like arrows.
Shen Yuan stood at the end of the hallway, gazing at the hazy curtain of rain before him, and quickly decided to go downstairs.
The crossdraft on the third floor was exceptionally fierce. The raindrops, swept along by the wind, would surely hurt if they hit your face.
Of course, a tough guy like Li Haotian completely ignored the terrible weather, resolutely charging straight into the downpour in the raincoat Shen Yuan had given him that morning.
Watching Brother Haojie’s determined strides, Shen Yuan shook his head, then turned and went downstairs.
In comparison, the curtain of rain in the first-floor hallway was much gentler than on the third.
The wind was just a little strong, was all.
Shen Yuan breathed a small sigh of relief. He quickly pulled his raincoat’s hood down tighter, then carefully avoided the crowd and opened the umbrella in a spot sheltered from the wind.
"Let’s go," he said softly, his voice a little faint amidst the wind and rain.
"Tilt the umbrella more toward me. Did all your physics knowledge go to the dogs? Don’t you know a surface perpendicular to the wind experiences the most drag?" Li Zhi suddenly reached out and grabbed the wrist of the hand Shen Yuan was using to hold the umbrella, giving it a slight tug in her direction.
This angled the surface of the umbrella against the wind instead of leaving it perpendicular.
"Yes, yes, the great Scholar Li even applies physics to holding an umbrella." Shen Yuan bantered, but he let her adjust the angle of the handle.
Although this exposed more of their sides to the rain, with the protection of their raincoats, neither of them had to worry about their arms getting wet.
Shen Yuan looked at Li Zhi and asked cheekily, "Is my hand really soft?"
The beautiful girl’s loose strands of hair, peeking out from her raincoat, were tousled by the wind, much like her heart at that moment.
Young Master Li smiled sweetly. "Hold on, your raincoat hood is loose."
Shen Yuan watched as Li Zhi’s hand went to the drawstring on his hood.
A slight commotion came from behind a pillar about fifteen paces away.
He Zhiyu clutched Zhuo Peipei’s shoulders tightly, stomping her feet with excitement as she whispered-shouted, "Look! Zhizhi and Shen Yuan!"
The student council president was also captivated by the scene. She quickly adjusted her glasses, blurred by the rain, her eyes locked onto the interaction between Li Zhi and Shen Yuan.
The scene looked just like a wife straightening her husband’s tie before he left for the day.
Zhuo Peipei’s fingertips trembled slightly, and even her breathing seemed to quicken. These subtle changes revealed her inner excitement.
’Something’s up with those two!’
Zhuo Peipei screamed internally.
Unfortunately, the information Zhuo Peipei had didn’t include what had actually happened between Shen Yuan and Li Zhi that day.
And Zhuo Peipei couldn’t for the life of her figure out what could have caused their relationship to progress this way.
"Zhiyu, based on your intuition, why are they acting like this?"
He Zhiyu looked at Zhuo Peipei, various possibilities flashing through her mind.
But in the end, she ruled them all out.
"I don’t know."
"Ah Xi, this childhood-sweetheart stuff is the most annoying."
Zhuo Peipei complained, "They know each other too well, so they’re too embarrassed to make a move, but they’re also unwilling to give up. Even when friends tease them until they’re red in the face, they just stubbornly deny everything."
"Peipei, Zhizhi doesn’t blush."
He Zhiyu said meekly, "If you tease her, you’ll probably get killed."
Thinking back to the Li Zhi from their first and second years of high school, Zhuo Peipei couldn’t help but nod.
Up ahead in the windy, rain-swept corridor, Li Zhi held the drawstrings with both hands and said gently, "Let’s tighten this. Rain will get in otherwise."
Before a warm feeling could even swell in Shen Yuan’s heart, he saw Li Zhi give a sharp tug!
The hood suddenly cinched tight, choking him around the jaw.
"HOLY SHIT! A TYPHOON-DAY MURDER PLOT!!"
"Do I need to wait for a typhoon to murder you?"
Fifteen paces away, He Zhiyu and Zhuo Peipei, who had just been savoring the sweet moment, saw this, and their wonderful mood vanished in an instant.
’Who said these two were sweet?’
’Show yourself, you bastard!!’
The feeling was like eating a piece of candy, only to suddenly be met with a sour taste.
But seeing Shen Yuan and Li Zhi start moving, Zhuo Peipei quickly said, "Let’s go, let’s go. Those two idiots are leaving."
He Zhiyu and Zhuo Peipei still had the presence of mind to complain about Shen Yuan and Li Zhi for a moment, but once they were out in the downpour, all such thoughts vanished.
The rain was just too heavy.
On the school’s main path, countless figures moved slowly forward.
Of course, within this crowd, there were also quite a few boys who, trusting their flip-flops and capris, quickly waded through the water.
They didn’t care in the slightest if their clothes got soaked.
They were just trying to stand out, but in the eyes of many, they just looked like morons.
The splashes they made drew angry rebukes from the students around them.
But soon enough, a few of them were caught by a teacher from the discipline office, who was hidden in the crowd.
In fact, he didn’t even need to hide. He could just stand there, and no one would see him.
Jiyang Middle School’s discipline office had a two-meter-tall teacher. Visibility was already poor in the torrential rain, and with the added cover of umbrellas, his figure was even harder to make out.
By the time you noticed him, he would have already caught you.
