Evander Lancaster hurriedly walked from the elevator towards the operating room, his open jacket fluttering behind him with his urgent strides.

Felix Shaw and his wife stood up, watching the man rushing over.

"Third Brother, Sister-in-law, what’s wrong with Sophia?" Evander instinctively grabbed Felix’s hand, his already fair skin turning even paler with anxiety.

Just as he was heading out with his toiletries, his phone rang, informing him that Sophia Hamilton had fainted at the mall entrance.

"We’re not quite clear on the details yet, but the doctor just said it seems like the child..."

"What’s wrong with the child?" Felix didn’t finish before Evander interrupted him, gripping Felix’s hand tighter.

"Evander, don’t worry too much," Mia Foster urged, but before she could continue, Evander interrupted again, "How can I not worry? That’s my flesh and blood!"

After speaking, realizing his emotions were overly intense, he licked his lips and apologized, "Sorry, Sister-in-law, I didn’t mean it, I’m just..."

"Sit down and rest for a bit, I understand." Mia graciously smiled, and the group sat on the waiting bench.

"The doctor said Sophia showed signs of miscarriage, and she requested to terminate the pregnancy, so we called you,"

Mia explained matter-of-factly. After work today, she had planned to go to the mall with Felix, then have dinner and see a movie. Unexpectedly, as they drove near the mall, they saw a girl fainting in the distance. When they approached, they realized it was Evander’s girlfriend, Sophia Hamilton.

After Mia finished speaking, Evander sprang up from the bench, gritting his teeth and muttering, "That damned woman!" Then he strode towards the operating room.

"Evander, where are you going!" Felix reached out to stop him.

Evander turned back, his eyes blazing, "That woman is about to lose my child, what do you think I’m going to do!"

"Oh, come on, calm down!" Felix helplessly pulled Evander back to the waiting bench, "Earlier, when the doctor asked for options, I pretended to be you and told them to do their best to save the child."

Evander exhaled deeply, then stood up again, "No, I have to go in and see!"

"What do you want to see! You’re not a gynecologist, and this isn’t your hospital!" Felix pulled Evander back once more, "Sit down, Mia just gave them a tip, they’ll do their best." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Phew!" Evander exhaled again, sitting back down on the bench with his hands in his pockets, lowering his gaze to hide the emotion in his eyes.

The surgery didn’t take very long, but for Evander, it felt like an endless eternity. He was a doctor, and yet, his woman was in the emergency room, and he could do nothing but wait anxiously in the corridor.

With his hands in his pockets, he lowered his head, pacing back and forth from one end to the other.

Felix rubbed his brow helplessly, "Evander, can you sit down for a moment, stop pacing in front of me, it’s dizzying."

Evander paused, glanced at Felix, hesitated for a moment, and sat down next to him.

"What did the doctor say just now, can the child be saved?"

Felix...

"Evander, since when did you become such a nag? I’m not a doctor; how should I know?"

In the span of half an hour, he had already asked the same question over a dozen times.
