After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 22: Let’s Get Married
Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Let’s Get Married
Isabella Weaver had a bad feeling the moment Harry Hunter held her, but she didn’t move. Harry had just helped her with a performance earlier that morning, and she couldn’t possibly undermine him now.
She wasn’t completely aware of the situation around her, so she instinctively turned to look at Harry, seeking his opinion with her gaze.
Harry’s mood tonight was extremely poor. Several things had spun out of his control, especially Cherry Lewis returning from abroad — everyone else knew but kept it from him alone. He loathed this feeling of being out of control.
When Isabella’s gaze met his, he felt inexplicably more at ease.
Originally so stubborn and aloof, now she seemed obedient and compliant. She was seeking his opinion, protecting the last shred of his dignity.
So she was this considerate and empathetic, knowing to repay kindness.
Though they had known each other for only three days, they already shared such an astounding mutual understanding.
Harry tightened his grip slightly around Isabella’s slender waist and leaned down to say to her, "Isabella, kiss me, just like you did this morning."
Isabella was somewhat surprised to find a trace of pleading in Harry’s eyes.
In her mind, he was a powerful, ruthless Young Master — how could he...
Was it because of that Cherry Lewis?
Isabella hesitated for just two seconds before standing on tiptoe and pressing her lips to Harry’s cheek.
Consider it repayment for him saving her this morning.
Receiving her kiss, Harry’s cold face surprisingly softened into a gentle expression. He took Isabella’s hand and led her to sit on the sofa, looking around and speaking coolly and arrogantly, "What are you all standing around for? Isn’t this a welcome reception? Continue with it!"
With the atmosphere ruined like this, suddenly announcing he had a girlfriend, Cherry Lewis’s face was utterly bruised—how could the reception continue?
No one moved, everyone watching them, or rather, looking at the "undesirable" Isabella.
Isabella didn’t take Harry’s gentleness seriously, nor did she care about the looks from others. She cooperatively sat beside Harry and looked up to observe the white-clad woman named Cherry Lewis surrounded by others.
And then she noticed that Cherry Lewis was also observing her.
Isabella smiled lightly, unconcerned, since she was just a stand-in for the moment.
Cherry appeared equally unbothered as she gracefully approached Harry and smiled sweetly, "Brother Harry, I was wrong. Don’t be mad. I know you’re deliberately trying to annoy me, you can’t possibly like a waitress carrying plates, she’s just here as a temporary substitute, right?"
Isabella couldn’t help but frown—not because she minded being called a waitress, but because the remark sounded exceptionally familiar!
Milo Field has said similar things countless times these days, making her very disgusted!
Others might not understand Harry’s current mood, but Isabella understood it all too well. The mere mention of "don’t be mad" from the other party could make all your defenses seem feeble!
Based on this alone, she’s determined to help Harry tonight!
Isabella turned to look at Harry, waiting for his next instruction.
Harry was also looking at her, not sparing a glance at Cherry Lewis, as if the stunning beauty in front of him was nothing but air.
He reached out, gently stroking Isabella’s flawless face, thinking to himself that she looked best without makeup, beautiful and untouched, naturally graceful with a hint of chill, like his favorite iced lemon water. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
He spoke lightly, "Isabella, let’s get married."
