Chapter 982 -894: Come, Let’s Fight

Canada, Alberta.

Four orange snowmobiles crossed the vast snowy plain and entered a vacation camp.

The person on the lead snowmobile asked a question, and after refueling with special kerosene, they left the camp for the nearby forest.

Half an hour later, the snowmobiles stopped in a valley.

On one of the vehicles, Nicholson handed Martin a pair of sunglasses, saying, “Put these on to protect your eyes.”

Martin tightened the zipper of his cold-weather suit, put on the sunglasses, jumped down from the vehicle first, and turned back to extend a hand to help Nicholson down.

Once the old bastard was steady, he said, “Be careful, it’s cold and slippery here. You should have stayed in Los Angeles instead of coming to such a place to suffer.”

Nicholson said, “We need to give Leo moral support. Look at the environment now; if we don’t come to encourage Leo, the poor guy will surely go crazy.”

The two trudged through the snow, their steps creaking, approaching the outdoor set of “The Revenant.”

As the crew was about to start filming, a production manager led Martin and Nicholson to a trailer area and invited them to climb up a staircase onto the roof of a vehicle for a better view of the shooting.

The site was at the edge of the forest; Martin and Nicholson stood high up, with a clear view of everything.

Next to a huge maple tree, Leonardo was covered in a bloodstained fur coat, his dirty hair tangled in numerous knots, half of his face concealed by makeup, unrecognizable.

This outfit, if nothing else, was pitiful enough.

As filming was about to begin, Martin sat down, opened his bag, and took out a thermos, which he handed to Nicholson.

He took another one, sipping hot tea while watching Leonardo’s performance.

It was a bloody scene. Leonardo pulled out a small knife, cut the steaming fresh beef into strips, and ate them.

Perhaps the performance was not on point; after eating two strips of beef, the director called cut, and Leonardo had to start over.

After several takes, Leonardo ended up eating six or seven strips of raw beef.

During a break in filming, Martin whispered, “I’ve never seen Leo work so hard.”

“He already won an Oscar for Best Actor once and didn’t want to push himself this hard,” said Nicholson, drinking hot tea, feeling the warmth returning to his chilled body. “To outdo you, he chose this project, this pitiful role, and even deliberately avoided this year.”

“Maybe he can win another Oscar,” Martin was uncertain, considering Leonardo already had an Oscar for Best Actor, whether he could win another with “The Revenant.”

However, this role definitely fit the Oscars’ penchant for pitiful characters.

Martin remembered clearly, Leonardo had won the Oscar for Best Actor during a previous award season, probably influenced by himself, “The Revenant” would be released next awards season.

Some time later, as filming paused temporarily, Leonardo emerged from the set, waved to Martin and Nicholson with a reminder from his assistant.

The weather was too cold, and with snowflakes drifting, the crew decided to wrap up early for the day.

Martin and Nicholson entered Leonardo’s resting trailer, waited briefly while he removed his makeup and changed clothes, then came over from the neighboring makeup trailer.

Upon seeing his two close friends, Leonardo closed the trailer door and said, “I must be mad, choosing such a film, almost killing myself.”

Martin examined him and said, “You look quite good.”

“Look good? God, Martin, do you still have a conscience?” Leonardo grabbed a bottle of water to rinse his mouth, did so several times before saying, “Do you know what I just ate? Raw beef!”

Nicholson uncovered his secret, “With Hollywood’s current prop-making standards, it would be easy to create substitutes, but you chose to eat real raw meat. Why?”

Martin continued, “This is a sensational point for publicity. When the film is released, it can be promoted as an interesting behind-the-scenes fact. During the awards season, you can tell the judges how much you sacrificed for this role!”

Leonardo frowned and roared angrily, “I’ve sacrificed so much, can’t I use it for publicity? You guys know I’m an environmentalist, I normally eat vegetarian…”

He hadn’t finished speaking when Martin and Nicholson’s gazes landed on his protruding belly, their eyes and mouths almost bursting with mockery.

Leonardo, as thick-skinned as Martin, retorted, “Don’t look at me like that. Am I not a publicly known ovo-lacto vegetarian? For the sake of performance, I’m eating beef now! Raw beef. I’ve sacrificed so much, can’t I ask for something in return?”

Martin burst out laughing, “You eat meat, you suffer, you’re right.”

Leonardo spread his hands in front of the two bastards, then patted his face with one hand, “Look at this, all frostbites and fine cracks from the cold wind. I don’t need to be pitiful, because I am pitiful!”

Nicholson said, “Such a pitiful billionaire.”

The ridicule wasn’t enough, Martin added, “A rejected billionaire by his true love, Gisele!”

Leonardo was so angry he didn’t want to speak.

The three continued to taunt each other for a while before following the crew back to the nearby resort.

The area was a high season for tourism in winter, with ski resorts nearby.

Nicholson was old, uninterested in skiing, and Martin didn’t want him to have any accidents on the icy and snowy ground, so he stayed with him throughout.
