Chapter 994 -900: Driven to Madness
In the meeting room, Daniel stood in front of a “Joker” poster, thoughtfully looking at the male lead on it.
Louise pushed the door open and came in, smiling, “Martin is still working on the post-editing, he’ll be here shortly.”
“No rush,” Daniel said. His tone shifted as he asked, “How far along is the post-production for ‘Joker’?”
Louise had someone bring over coffee and said, “The score and special effects have been added, and it’s in the process of final precision editing. Martin is trying to cut the film’s current length of 185 minutes down to around 120 minutes.”
Daniel suddenly sighed, “It’s about keeping the film around 120 minutes, why do I feel that Martin’s direction of ‘Joker’ is much more reliable than ‘Justice League’?”
Louise shared her personal experience, “Martin has been in Hollywood for 12 years, and he’s always been very reliable when it comes to serious work.”

Daniel thought carefully about his collaborations with Martin and found that to indeed be the case.
In contrast, looking at the Warner Bros. Team that controlled ‘Justice League,’ calling them unreliable would almost be a compliment to this group of super geniuses.
At that moment, the door of the meeting room was opened from the outside, and Martin walked in. He greeted Daniel, saying, “There was a scene that needed some last-minute adjustments, which caused a delay.”
“No problem,” Daniel waited for Martin to sit down before he directly said, “The reshoots driven by Joss Whedon for ‘Justice League’ have already started. The reshoots are all green screen scenes inside the studio, Warner and DC are watching it very closely, ‘Justice League’ will be released in November as planned.”
Martin said, “‘Joker’ will be released a few weeks before them, I hope for a good outcome.”
This was also the outcome he had specifically requested. If ‘Justice League’ were to tank as it had in his past life, it would inevitably have a negative impact on other DC films, and even if DC publicly cut ties with ‘Joker,’ it was hard to say exactly what would happen.
Daniel was also aware of this, “It seems you have a pessimistic view of ‘Justice League.'”
Louise asked directly, “After all the trouble that project had, could you still be optimistic about them?”
Daniel smiled helplessly, “The executives at Warner and DC still have confidence.”
As Martin’s post-production work was nearly finished, and he would have more time later, he suggested, “I’m very close to Gal Gadot. Do you want to visit the set together when we have time?”
Daniel shrugged, “You can go to Warner Bros. Studios whenever you want.”
Then he asked, “Why are you insisting on carrying out post-production at Disney Studio? The conditions at Warner aren’t bad either.”
Martin replied seriously, “I can’t grasp what those people are thinking; they’re all extraordinary geniuses. If they do something ordinary people wouldn’t dare think or do, it would also be a problem for us.”
Daniel thought of those of Japanese ancestry and said, “A few years ago, I would’ve thought you were overthinking it, but now, I can’t grasp their ideas either.”
After talking about some work related to promotion and distribution, Martin took Daniel into the editing room to show him a segment that had been finely cut.
Daniel said, “There’s no trace of comic books, it doesn’t show any characteristics of a superhero movie; instead, it looks more like a film adapted from reality.”
He also had doubts, “If it were someone else, I wouldn’t dare invest too much, but Martin, you are different, Warner Bros. is willing to take risks.”
Over the years, Martin had been too successful, and they were willing to take risks with winners.
Martin reminded him, “Don’t forget, this is Joker!”
Of course, Daniel remembered this key point. Warner Bros. was willing to invest resources in “Joker,” not only because of Martin’s success but also because Joker had already reached a legendary status.
Warner Bros. had done market research; film fans recognized Martin’s version of the Joker.
Half an hour later, Daniel left the “Joker” studio.
Martin got back into post-production, working until closing time before coming out of the editing room.
Louise invited him to Sherman Oaks, and the two got into Louise’s Rolls-Royce together.
Martin leaned back in the seat, his fatigue making him close his eyes.
Louise took out a bottle of water, uncapped it, and handed it to him, “I’ve agreed with Daniel to hold the first internal screening of ‘Joker’ at the end of August. Before the general release in October, we’ve scheduled a total of four preview screenings.”
Martin took it and drank a sip, stating, “You decide those things; my energy will be on the final production of the film in the next two months.”
For ‘Joker’s post-production, he had had Thomas turn down an invitation to the Cannes Film Festival.
Arriving at Louise’s mansion in Sherman Oaks, Kelly Gray was also there.
The three sat in front of the bar in the living room, chatting. When they talked about the past in Atlanta, Louise personally mixed several cocktails.
She was now one of the top master bartenders and a vice president of the International Bartenders Association.
Louise mixed a Paper Plane for Kelly, saying, “This is the drink that got me into the mix back then.”
Kelly took a light sip of the cocktail, “You, you’ve never regretted it.”
“I’ve made too much money, I’ve been winning without making any effort,” Louise prepared a Penicillin and handed it to Martin, “Here’s your drink, rich in flavor, with a distinct complexity, integrating the whole spectrum of life’s sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy tastes.”
“Isn’t that your favorite?” Martin asked.
Louise likewise held up a Penicillin, “Once you get used to the expansive and impactful sensation this drink brings, the following flavors are rich and delightful.”
She raised her glass towards Martin and Kelly, “With these, I’ve become the top female master in the world of bartending.”
Kelly said, “Change the drink, I want a Penicillin too.”
