An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 81: Orientation
Chapter 81: Orientation
Lance frowned when he heard that. He clenched his fist and gritted his teeth.
"So you really don’t care what people think about you?" Lance asked.
"No, I do care what people think about me. I have a crippling fear of what people think about me. It’s something that has plagued me longer than you would ever imagine.
But one day, I spoke to a blacksmith that changed most of my views on everything—my views on what I should care about and what not to care about.
And because of him, I’ve learned that I don’t need to be right in the eyes of everyone, and most especially in the eyes of self-righteous kids that have nothing better to do," Riven said.
"You are really a screwed-up person," Lance said.
"No, I think you fit the description more, Lance. I know your type. Because you are chosen, you feel like you’re supposed to be the perfect human, the one everyone looks up to.
You feel you just have to be that good that everyone sees, but that’s bullshit and hypocrisy, even if you don’t see it," Riven said and turned away, lying down to get some rest.
"It’s much better than wanting to be the oddball in the group," Lance said and got up. He walked out of the room.
"Well, you managed to piss him off," Robert said, but Riven didn’t give a reply.
After that, they barely spoke, and even when night came, all of them slept. At the break of day, a loud alarm woke everyone up in the dorm. A letter was slipped under their doors.
Lance picked up the letter and opened it. He read it out loud for everyone in the room.
"All students are to gather at the Assembly Hall at the main academy building within an hour. Signed, Headmistress."
They got ready in less than an hour and left the room. As they walked out of the door, Lance looked at Riven one more time before he walked away.
"He really doesn’t like you," Noel said as he watched the prince and Lance walk away.
"No, I think it’s something different from that. He doesn’t hate me, he hates my ideals. He hates the way I think. To him, I have the possibility to become an issue later," Riven said.
"Some people really think they can control others? Shitheads," Noel said.
"Regardless, he is the one chosen by the goddess Lumis. There is a lot of weight on him to become stronger and carry justice.
But sometimes that weight is too much for the person that carries it. It ends up creating something no one expected," Riven said and walked away.
’You speak like you know what might happen, Riven,’ Noel thought. He followed behind, but the thought still lingered.
They made it to the main building and finally to the large hall that could carry all of them. It was like a cinema, with rows and rows of seats, and one major path in between the two sets of chairs. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
And like back in the dungeon, the nobles sat in one section, while the commoners sat in the other. Riven and Noel also took their seats where the nobles were. Their eyes stayed on the stage; they waited for whoever would be coming to speak to them.
After a few more minutes, everyone finally arrived, and then a magical circle shined on the stage. A lady in an instructor’s robe showed up—Sally.
She stood on the stage with a bright smile. "Hello, everyone," she greeted, and then her smile faded away. Her face became serious, looking closer to the evil face that Riven knew.
"Let’s get serious now. I am Instructor Sally. All two hundred and fifty of you have managed to make it into the academy—the Royal Academy.
This academy trains the elite of the elites, those that carry the entire kingdom of Vermillion on their shoulders.
I know to some of you, the entrance to this academy seemed simple and straightforward—you all just had to show your strength—but that was only the beginning.
There was no written test, no aptitude test, nothing. It’s not because the academy doesn’t have use for that, but because many of you never had the education that would match the academy.
If we gave you a test based on the type of things that we have in the academy curriculum, most of you would fail," she finished speaking and then cracked a small smile.
"So because of that, in your first semester at the academy, your theory will have more importance than practical. That’s to ensure that you learn what you need to.
That’s the first important aspect you all need to know about. As for the second, there will be five classes—Classes A, B, C, D, and finally E.
According to the rank that you got in the exams, you will know your class, as you will be fifty in one class. Class E is the relegation class, as I’m sure you already know.
It is the first time in the academy’s history that an extra class like that has been made available. The academy simply did it in order to ensure that some of you have a little chance, and the rest of you in the higher class will work harder to keep your position.
One thing is to be clear: the treatment of higher ranks is not the same as that of the lower ranks. There are benefits and priorities that you gain.
These ranks can change anytime through duels of different types agreed on by both parties. You can read more about it when you get your student rulebook.
Now that is the basic information, but there’s more. In this academy, there are two types of people basically—mages and battle mages. Mages focus mostly on magic and research, while battle mages incorporate mana into the use of weapons and other tools.
There are many other subclasses in the academy, but those two are the major."
