An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 83: Inside the room.
Chapter 83: Inside the room.
It turned out that Sally was their instructor for the Vermilion Hall. She led all of them to the building—it was a massive three-story structure with the crest of the academy on it.
Immediately she opened the wooden double doors, the same scent of flowers and polished wood reached their noses and caused their bodies to relax.
They walked into the dorm building; it was a place that was beyond description in words. The first floor consisted of a massive sitting room, a kitchen, a dining room, and many other rooms.
"This is the first floor—the main floor. There are every amenity that you all will need, and the academy makes sure to refill everything daily. There are four small-scale training rooms on this floor and also three labs for all sorts of magical research.
The second and third floors are where your rooms are, and you can pick your rooms. The boys must all stay on the left wing, and the girls must all stay on the right wing, even on the third floor.
There is only one room that bridges the two, and that’s the rank one room. It’s not just on the second floor but also stretches to the third floor, having two stories to itself," Sally explained.
’Why the hell is she explaining my room that much? Does she want them to try to take it from me right off the bat?’ Riven complained in his mind.
"Alright, that’s enough from me. Head to your rooms. The doors are open for now, but you’ll have to register your palms on the magical locks after today," she said.
She allowed everyone to head to their rooms. The boys used the left stairs, and the girls used the right.
Riven and Lance walked behind everyone. He knew that everyone was paying attention to see who was number one, so he wanted to wait it out and have all of them get into their rooms first, and then he would go to his.
But that plan immediately went wrong as everyone stood at their doors, all looking at the beautiful coffee-brown door that was for the first rank. They all refused to even go to the third floor because they all wanted to see.
’I’m not doing this shit,’ Riven decided. He grabbed Noel and pulled him into one of the rooms. "This is your room now, Noel. I’m going to use it to wait them out," Riven said. He slowly turned and looked at the room, and what he saw left him stunned.
The room was massive, with a very comfortable-looking two-person bed lying there, as well as a study table, a couch, coffee table, cupboard, wardrobe, and more.
There was a bookshelf next to the table, stacked with books they would be needing in their first year.
"Uhm, I don’t think our tuition can cover for such a room," Riven said.
"This is crazy. If this is what the room of an average A-Class student looks like, I wonder what yours will be like," Noel said.
"I’m actually scared to find out. I feel if I see it, there will be a mountain of pressure on me to keep my rank as number one," Riven said.
He walked to the bed and sat down. The soft mattress made him sink in easily.
"This is a trap," Noel suddenly said, and Riven cracked a smile when he heard that, because he already knew that this was a trap—no, it was a double-edged sword.
"You’re right. A room like this will only push two things—no in-between. It can make you want to study more, or it can make you entirely lazy, so lazy that your grades start to plummet," Riven said.
"The academy doesn’t want anything that isn’t the best. I like the way they do it. It’s crazy and crafty, but it will make only the best of us come out."
"Yeah yeah, that’s true—Yawm," Riven yawned and started lying down on the bed. Noel pulled out his shoe and immediately threw it at Riven.
"Go to your own room."
"Oh come on, allow me to rest here a bit. All eyes are on room one," Riven said.
"You can’t really hide that you are rank one. It will be out in less than a day," Noel said and took a seat on the bed as well.
"Urghh, it’s true. I should really not care about others seeing me, but I’m still human," Riven said and slowly drifted into sleep.
After a few hours had gone by, Noel woke him up with a kick to the side of his ribs. Riven leaped out of sleep with pain written all over his face. He grabbed his ribs and looked at Noel with a pissed-off expression.
"Everyone has gone into their rooms. You should head to yours now," Noel said.
"You could have woken me up any normal way. Why did it have to be through a kick?" Riven asked.
"You were sleeping vulnerable. I had to take the opportunity. But all that aside, you have to move now," Noel said.
Riven got up from the bed, walked to the door, and opened it slightly. He looked around and saw no one there, so he moved, Noel following behind.
"Where the hell are you going to?" Riven whispered.
"I wanna see what your room looks like," Noel responded. Riven let out a sigh while continuing toward his room quietly.
He got to the door and looked around—there was no one there, so he unlocked the door. Immediately he walked in, he froze—not because of the beauty of the two-story room, but because of the people he saw sitting inside.
Noel wondered why he had stopped and looked over his shoulder. He felt the beauty of the room had stunned Riven, but what he saw inside said different.
"Oh shit," he cursed.
Seated inside the room were the prince, the princess, Lance, Mia, Sofia, Liana, the elves, and the wolf boy.
All of them sat down casually inside the small living room of the room. The ladies sat on the chairs and couches, while the boys leaned against something.
They had no intention to, but they looked like a gang trying their best to look cool. When Riven stepped into the room, the wolf boy looked at him first—a frown formed on his face.
"You have to be kidding me. There is no way that you are the rank one," he said.
"Uhm, I don’t think any of that shit matters now. What matters is—what the hell are you doing here?" Riven asked.
Everyone was now looking at him, their eyes holding disbelief and confusion. No one there had really been expecting him to be the one to walk through that door.
"You will have to forgive our manners. We only wanted to know who was the person that came out on top of the exams. We all showed each other our ranks, and none of whom you would expect to be on top was on top, so we decided to wait here," the prince explained. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Riven frowned when he heard that. He folded his arms and stepped into the room, allowing Noel to come in as well.
"Was knowing the number one that important that all of you had to be here?" he said.
"It is important, because we needed to see if the wrong person had received something they were not supposed to get. And quite frankly, from what I’m seeing, that’s exactly what has happened," Mia suddenly spoke.
Her voice oozed hatred. She looked at him with cold eyes.
"It’s funny, you know. You see yourself so high, yet you lost to the son of a baron. And now you’re here to say that he didn’t deserve what he got," Riven said.
"Because you didn’t," Liana spoke. She crossed her arms, her back to Riven.
"And on what grounds is that?" Riven asked.
"Do I even need to say it? The trash suddenly got strong enough to rise above everyone—including those that have been blessed—and then becomes rank one?
If you ask me, you did something fishy to get this top spot. People like you do anything," she said.
"That’s enough, Liana. We aren’t here to attack Riven or point fingers at him. The Royal Academy has never made a mistake, and I’m sure this isn’t a mistake either," the prince said.
"Riven here must have done enough to get him this spot. After all, we all saw his fight in the exam’s second phase. He was also the only one who could land a hit on the wyvern and break free of the constrictions.
He is capable and strong—but that’s what makes this an issue. Because the son of a baron is outshining everyone above him. It makes me wonder: what did you do to get so powerful, Riven, won’t you tell us, please?" The prince asked, he had a smile on his face, but that was no true smile.
