Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Confessing About the Dreams

Everyone else, including Chu Miao turned around to look at Ye Xuan with scrutinizing eyes as if they wanted to know if he heard anything.

Ye Xuan was shocked to have heard such a secret. He knew that the Chu family seemed to have known something in advance, but hearing them say it personally was different from having dreams or speculating.

Now, he was sure that they knew about the apocalypse before hand.

However, looking at the way the members of the Chu family were looking at him with vigilance made him understand that if he ever said anything then he was dead.

He couldn’t pretend not to have heard anything because that would make him dishonest and he still wanted their daughter and creating a dishonest image was no good for that.

He could only confess what he knew, including his dreams.

"Don’t worry, I won’t say anything to anyone. I want to protect Miao and even if I have to use my life, I would not say a word." He promised. freewebnøvel.coɱ

"Such promises are dead." Chu Hao said.

Grandpa Chu had already realized his slip up by now and was regretting putting his chosen future grandson-in-law in a tight spot. But he also took this as a test for him.

"Huh!" Ye Xuan exhaled quietly then said, "I have known that the Chu family knew something was going to happen for a long time. Even before the apocalypse started." He confessed.

This time everyone was shocked. They had been very secretive and apart from the document sent to the government, they never told anyone anything in advance until the last couple of days before the apocalypse.

So, how did Ye Xuan know about it?

"It’s not just because of how you bought supplies in bulk and in secrecy, or how you reinforced your apartment and moved from the villa to this place..." Ye Xuan started but before he could finish, several voices interrupted him in anger.

"You investigated us?" Even Chu Miao had an angry look on her face.

Seeing that things were about to take a dangerous turn, he confessed immediately.

"Yes, I had Lei Ying investigate you, but I didn’t have any ulterior motives..." Again he was interrupted by Chu Hao who stood up and almost threw a punch.

"Sit down and keep quiet. Let him finish." Grandpa Chu commanded with the aura of a general.

Everyone went as quiet as a quail

Ye Xuan was amazed by how the feared general of many years ago could still command such authority.

"Go on. Finish what you were saying." Grandpa Chu said.

He had seen many things and just by looking at Ye Xuan, he knew that he had not done anything against principles.

He was straightforward and his eyes were clear. So, he wanted to know the reason such an upright soldier would have to investigate a family unrelated to him.

"At first I didn’t want to investigate, but circumstances forced me to. For several months before the apocalypse, I had a recurring dream.

It was a dream of a beautiful girl in ancient clothes fighting in a huge battlefield. She was leading hundreds of thousands of soldiers in battle and killing enemy soldiers without mercy.

I had never seen such a formidable force in war. At first I ignored the dream and thought that it was an illusion.

Then later, the dream changed, but the girl in the dream didn’t change. This time she wasn’t leading soldiers in battle but she was in class, probably at school wearing modern clothes and the buildings were clearly modern.

I ignored the dreams again but they persisted. At first I would have the dream at most twice a week, then it became thrice.

However, a month before the apocalypse, which is also a month after I started having those dreams, I started having them everyday.

I couldn’t ignore it anymore. I am a soldier and I am trained not to believe in coincidences. So, I drew a portrait of the girl in the dream and had Lei Ying investigate and see if he could find her.

After a few days he brought me the results. Indeed, the girl I had been dreaming about existed and even though I had never met her, I knew her grandfather because he was a decorated general I admired and had seen him just two months earlier during my grandfather’s funeral.

Lei Ying sometimes assumes I want something since I don’t talk much, so when he found out who the girl was and I said nothing, he thought I wanted more information. So, he investigated further.

That’s how I found out about what the Chu family was doing. I didn’t understand what was happening. But since I could even dream of someone I had never met, I assumed something related to her was going to happen and the family was preparing for it.

I thought that there was no harm in following along. That’s why I also bought a lot of supplies and reinforced my apartment together with those of my brothers before the apocalypse." Ye Xuan finished his narrative.

Everyone in the room felt as if they were in a dream. How could someone dream of an unrelated person they had never met for months?

If the guy wasn’t so serious and obviously knew things like Chu Miao in the battlefield that only their family knew, they wouldn’t believe him no matter what he said.

But with the evidence in front of them, they had to believe it.

"That’s incredible. How did he know about you in the battlefield?" Chu Hao asked in astonishment as he turned to look at his sister.

"Don’t look at me. How would I know? I didn’t know him until we met in the elevator when the apocalypse started." Chu Miao defended herself.

"Bunny, could you recite that prophecy again?" Her grandfather requested.

Ye Xuan wondered what prophecy they were talking about, but he waited patiently.

Chu Miao didn’t know why her grandfather wanted to hear the prophecy again, but she recited it anyway.
