Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Flooded City

She looked at the clock and realized that it was already nine o’clock at night. It looked like she and her brother had been in the cave for a few days.

As she thought of this, she remembered that she had not given the rabbit and pheasant they had caught to her mother to cook.

However, it didn’t matter as the others had entered seclusion anyway and didn’t need to cook for now.

Thus, she went straight to bed. She had not gone to bed so early in the past few weeks and needed to recharge. Tomorrow she was going to an oil refinery factory to see if she could score more gasoline and probably find some fuel for the small fighter jet her grandfather had bought.

She could now teleport and didn’t even need a car anymore, and could even teleport several people for a good distance, but the rest of her family couldn’t just depend on her for transportation.

Moreover, with her grand ambition of building a sect, how could gasoline be dispensable?

She also aimed to kill more zombies and get crystal cores for future use. Now, she couldn’t wait to meet level two or above zombies and mutated beasts, so that she can collect more high-level crystal cores for her family.

As she thought about this while laying on her bed, she took her phone and found a message from Ye Xuan. He was telling her that he had brought back three researchers and she could meet them tomorrow.

She replied to the message that had been sent three hours earlier, then logged on the internet to check what was happening.

It had been more than a month since the apocalypse began and the usual lively atmosphere on the internet was gone.

Now people were only reporting how their neighbors or family members had turned into zombies or starved to death.

She was also surprised to find that some parts of the country were also complaining about the sudden loss of electricity and contamination of tap water.

Because of floods, some sewerage systems had collapsed and the sewer water mixed with running water, causing contamination.

Now, some people didn’t have either electricity or water and were worried that it wouldn’t be long before they died of thirst and starvation too.

Those without a choice and with a survival spirit had disregarded the heavy downpour and braved the floods to look for supplies.

But people had wisened by now and no one bragged about the supplies they had saved at home or those they scavenged.

As she watched some short videos, she came across a few obviously recorded inside a house that was flooded completely.

Some people claimed that they live in high-rise buildings, but the flood water was already approaching the second floor.

Upon seeing this, she got up from the bed and went to the window. Drawing the curtain aside, she looked down and even though it was night, power was already turned on and she could see clearly.

Moreover, with her current cultivation level, darkness didn’t pose a challenge for her as she could see in the dark as if it was daytime.

She realized that the flood water that was at least reaching her calves before was now close to covering the windows on the first floor of their building.

This surprised her because she couldn’t understand how the water had risen so fast. In a matter of a single day, such changes meant that there was probably a water reserve that had broken its banks and water was heading their way.

Because of the blockage of the drainage system, and the fact that they are far from the sea, the water cannot find an outlet.

This meant that the city would flood faster. She could already imagine the number of deaths that would occur with the floods, but she was powerless and couldn’t save everyone.

If the rains persisted for a month the way the extreme heat had, people from the tenth floor going down might be in big trouble.

However, she had no way to save them now as she could invite them to her house.

She closed the curtains and went back to bed. She had a mission to complete tomorrow and had to sleep for now.

The next morning, Chu Miao woke up naturally at six o’clock and freshened up before going to the dining room.

Since she was alone, she didn’t bother cooking and took out one of the meals packed in containers in the space kitchen to eat.

Having a hot meal in this weather was good even though she was a cultivator and now that she had reached the foundation establishment realm, she didn’t need to eat every meal.

Having a full meal a week to maintain the body was good enough. But she loved food and would not stop eating just because she could. She had to take three full meals a day and some snacks.

After breakfast, it was already 7:30;am, so she decided to go talk to Ye Xuan and also meet the three researchers he brought before going to the oil refinery.

Now that everything was flooded, the roads were no longer passable by car and people could only use boats. But she did need that as she would pinpoint the location of the oil refinery factory on the map and teleport there directly from her apartment.

With a clear target, her destination won’t be too far off. She just had to dress accordingly with waterproof clothes and raincoats and boots in case she ended up appearing in a flooded spot.

After making a decision, she got up, cleaned her bowl and chopsticks and left her apartment.

She had never been to Ye Xuan’s apartment before and wanted to see if it was as cold as his outer appearance.

She had long realized that the guy wore a cold face all day long to fend off trouble. He wasn’t as cold inside as he appeared outside.
