Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 212: Too dirty
Chapter 212: Too dirty
Elena quickly used her [Blink] skill and reappeared in the kitchen.
She saw that the pan had been left on the stove for too long, causing the food to burn, and thick black smoke filled the room.
She turned off the stove and retrieved an air purifier to clear the air.
"Who made this mess?" she asked curiously.
Ethan then rushed behind her and took over the task of clearing the smoke.
"Go inside, Paradise. This smoke isn’t good for the baby."
But Elena’s eyes locked onto a corner of the kitchen. After a short pause, she nodded and entered the space.
She then forced summoned the kids.
Yes—she had already noticed them hiding in the corner, likely afraid of being scolded for whatever trouble they had caused.
"Little Mia, you’re almost all black. Care to explain?" she asked, eyeing the dirty faces and drooping figures of Little Mia, Little Lucy, Little Koby, and Little Erick.
They looked like they had just come back from a wild battle—covered in soot and mess.
Elena didn’t accuse them outright. She gave them a chance to speak up first.
But before anyone could answer, Little Mia lowered her head and began to cry.
"Sis... sob... sob... I just wanted to cook food, but it got ruined. Then the smoke came out."
According to the kids, Grandma Ford had been teaching them how to bake, and they were so excited to make cookies.
After they finished, they happily showed off their work and ate them joyfully, leaving only a small portion for the adults to taste later.
Grandma Ford then told them to rest and watch TV while she stepped out to take care of a few things inside the space.
But as soon as she left, the kids got mischievous and decided to host their own little cooking show in the kitchen.
It didn’t take long for things to turn into a complete disaster.
They grabbed ingredients without knowing how to use them and ended up making a mess.
Before they realized it, the pan was burning, and thick smoke filled the air.
"Don’t be mad, Sis Ele. I am too useless to turn off the fire. As their brother, I should’ve stopped them, Please, punished me alone." Little Koby said, wiping away his tears—only making his face even dirtier.
"Alright, stop blaming yourself. All of you need to take responsibility," she replied, gently patting his messy hair.
Then she looked at the rest of the kids.
"It’s nice that you all wanted to try something new, but you must always do it under adult supervision. Cooking can be fun, but it’s also dangerous if you’re not careful."
"Sorry, Sister Elena. We won’t do it again," the kids quickly said, their wide, guilty eyes full of remorse.
Of course, Elena wasn’t angry—she was more worried about them. They were getting more and more curious, and clearly needed someone to guide them at all times.
"Why aren’t you sleeping? It’s already past 9 PM," she asked, noticing how alert and full of energy they still were.
"We can’t sleep, Sis Elena. Is there something wrong with us?" Little Lucy asked, a bit nervous.
Suddenly, Elena remembered what Ethan had mentioned—the well water was giving them extra energy every day.
Maybe that was why they weren’t getting tired like normal kids.
She made a mental note to bring it up with Aunt Liza later, just in case there were any hidden side effects.
"No, maybe you’re just extra energetic," Elena said, gently reassuring them.
The kids nodded all together, looking absolutely adorable.
Elena couldn’t help but chuckle silently at the sight.
After a few seconds, Ethan appeared and saw the kids looking at his wife with cautious expressions, like they had made a huge mistake.
He should have felt sympathy, but when he saw their soot-covered faces, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
"What happened there?" he asked, curious about the situation back at the unit.
Once he heard the whole story, he quickly composed himself, turned serious, and gently scolded the kids for what they had done.
They burst into louder cries, their tears and snot mixing together pitifully.
"Alright, that’s enough crying. Your brother Tan isn’t angry— he’s just worried about you. Don’t do it again, okay?" she comforted them gently, then told them to take a bath before going to bed.
But before they could move, the mischievous villain Poochi appeared, along with Mimi—who had finally returned after being sent off to care for the animals as punishment for trying to mess with Dolphie.
Now free to wander the space again, the two circled around the kids, seemingly laughing at their blackened faces.
"Aw~aw~aw"
’Is this a new trend? Why are you so dirty? ’
"Meow~meow"
’Yeah too dirty. Don’t go near me.’
Although the kids didn’t understand what their pets were barking and meowing about, they could tell that their furry friends were teasing them.
The kids then laughed and chased after their pets playfully.
Ethan glanced at his wife, who was smiling at the children, and let out a quiet sigh.
He had planned to give the kids a proper punishment, but one sharp look from his wife was enough to stop him.
"Wife, come on. Let’s take a bath and go to sleep."
"I’ll help the kids clean up first."
"No need. Let the others handle it. I already informed Grandma Ford and Aunt Joana about what happened."
"Alright then, let’s go."
Not long after, they went to bed, sleeping peacefully in each other’s arms.

The next morning, Elena and Ethan went to Paradise Hospital for Elena’s check-up, which took place every 15 days.
Ethan still couldn’t shake off his unease and was eager to know how the baby was doing.
As Elena lay on the bed, Aunt Liza checked the ultrasound—but once again, nothing showed up. The screen remained blank, with no sign of the baby.
"The baby might just be shy and doesn’t want to show up yet," Aunt Liza teased as she redid the scan.
Ethan sighed and glanced at Elena’s baby bump. "Why would it be shy? Her mom and dad are ready to meet her."
"Her?? How do you know it’s a girl?" Elena asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Intuition?" he replied with a shrug.
But deep down, Elena felt it was a boy—her instincts had never been wrong.
Just then, she sensed a wave of spiritual energy, as if the baby was greeting her.
’See? The baby might be a boy.’
"Intuition, my ass. It’s a boy... I heard you’ve been customizing baby dresses for Grandma Ford using pink fabric. Care to explain?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Wife, I asked for two sets—one for a girl and one for a boy," he defended himself, a grin spreading across his face.
Their playful banter must’ve been heard by the baby, who responded by sending out another wave of spiritual energy into Elena’s belly.
’Baby, do you want to help Mommy fight your silly Daddy?’ she thought with a smile, gently caressing her bump.
"What are you smiling about?" Ethan asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Nothing," she replied, keeping it a secret.
Ethan narrowed his eyes and leaned closer.
Just as he was about to kiss her as a playful punishment, Elena quickly warned, "Aunt Liza is right here!"
"If you don’t tell me, I’ll kiss you right here," he whispered teasingly.
"Alright, alright! Hooligan, have some shame—we’re in front of Aunt," she laughed, thankful Aunt Liza had her back turned while checking her equipment.
"Be good. So? Why were you smiling?" he asked again.
"The baby might be trying to talk to me. When I asked it something, I felt a small burst of spiritual energy."
"Really?" Ethan’s eyes lit up, excitement spreading across his face.
"Mhm," she nodded with a playful smirk.
Ethan let out a breath of relief, feeling comforted knowing their baby was safe and responsive.
Soon after, Aunt Liza finished the check-up and confirmed that Elena was in perfect health.
Ethan didn’t ask anything more—he was simply happy that both his wife and their baby were doing well.
