Ashes of a Fallen Legacy-Chapter 21: Restroom [2]
Chapter 21 - Restroom [2]
"Hold on, there."
However, before the situation got any worse. A mysterious voice could be heard. Confused, everyone slowly looked towards the source of the sound. When they did, they frozed.
Zane stared blankly at the mysterious figure, not far away from him. Well, not exactly mysterious, because everyone knew who this man was - Kael Drayven, from the Drayvel clan.
The Drayven clan belonged to The Deca Arms Dynasty. The Deca Arms Dynasty is the top 10 strongest clan when it comes to using their weapons. Just like the Covenant of 10, however the Covenant of Ten consists of clans who mainly use magic as their weapons.
Kael Drayven was one of the top 10 students in the entire school. He was also in class A, just like Eris.
Zane, or more like Velrath stared at him blankly for a while. Velrath knew him ofcourse, since he was inside Zane's body.
Kael had blond hair and blue eyes. His athletic build was evident beneath the academy's training clothes, suggesting he had just finished a session. Despite his slightly worn appearance, there was an undeniable charm about him.
[Dang it, bad timing. Just when I thought I could finally have some fun.]
Kael paused for a while before continuing speaking. He then spoke in a serious tone.
"Do you people have no shame? That man is the son of the strongest man in the kingdom of Ashveil. Yet, you dare to pick on him, simply because he is weaker? You know that this is an insult to his clan right?"
The people picking on Zane slightly trembled, after hearing Kael. They weren't really scared of his statement, they were more likely scared of the aura Kael possessed. His aura speaks of a true warrior, enough for them to know not to mess with him.
"I suggest you to leave, or do you want me to make you leave my self?"
There were horror all over their faces. Without even wasting a single second, they immediately ran off, leaving the males restroom.
"Crap, let's run!"
Zane and the others watched as the people harassing him left, as if they were some scared rat getting chased by a cat. Velrath had left Zane's body already, disappointment could be seen on his face.
Although Zane was glad that Kael had helped him, he also wondered why Kael would help him. I mean, they never interacted before, nor do they hold any type of relationships.
Zane's gaze shifted towards Kael, he then bowed slightly and said with a casual tone.
"Uh, thank you, Mr. Kael."
Kael smiled, he then responded.
"Please drop the formalities, Zane. It doesn't suit you, we both belong to a renowned clan, afterall."
Hearing Kael's words, a soft smile appeared on Zane's lips. Zane had seen Kael many times in the academy. Kael would often be at the training hall, after class. He was also one of the top 10 students in the academy, so everyone was familiar with him.
However, though. This was the first time Kael had approach him, not only approach him but also help him as well. Behind Zane's smile, was suspicion. Why had Kael suddenly help him? Maybe Kael was really just this kind of person? Come to think of it, Kael had never seen Zane being bullied before, other than this time ofcourse. Zane was suspicious of Kael's action, but he didn't want to be obvious.
"...Alright then, Kael."
Kael's expression was unchanged. He paused for a while before responding, he then said.
"Anyways, Zane. Were you actually about to fight those guys? You are alot different, than what the rumors says."
Zane let out a chuckle, he then responded.
"Well, I often put myself in that kind if situation, and being a coward wouldn't make it any better. I would rather fight to death, than die as a coward."
The smile on Kael's face slowly faded, replaced with a surprise expression. He paused for a moment before responding.
"Woah, I did not expect that answer. You really are alot different from what they say."
Zane paused for a while, although he was thankful for Kael, he also wondered why he helped him.
"Uhm, excuse me, Kael. I am thankful for your help, but, may I know the reason why you helped me?"
Kael's expression turned soft, he then said with a serious tone.
"A reason to help someone? I don't think I need one. Isn't it common sense to help someone, who is in need of help?"
Hearing Kael's words, Zane couldn't help but look at Kael with such admiration. To think that such a person exists. Never in Zane's entire life had he ever met a person with such mindset.
Kael paused before continuing speaking, he then said.
"Anyways, I'll be off then, Zane. See you next time, and if those guys bother you again, just shout my name!"
"..."
'Shout your name? Seriously?'
Zane awkwardly smiled, he then responded.
"...Right, thanks for helping me, once again."
Zane watched as Kael disappeared in front of him.
Zane sighed, the smile on his face was replaced with a somber expression.
This event had made Zane think. What If his life was actually different? What if Velrath had never put a curse on him and Zane was someone powerful and reliable? Would he have become someone arrogant, who picks on those who are weaker than him? Or would he have become someone like Kael, who wanted to help someone without a reason too.
Zane didn't know. Afterall, it never happened. He could never imagine his self picking on someone weaker than him. But, maybe... what if he was someone powerful, and was influenced by some prideful and arrogant people? Afterall, people who are formidable and strong are accepted and looked up by everyone. They are the people, everyone wants to be with.
And Zane, he knows what kind of person he is. He maybe naturally kind, but at the same time he is also easily influenced.
'I guess having a harsh experience in life, have its own merits to, huh?'
Zane's life had definitely been hard. However, it taught him alot. It taught to be humble and look at everyone as equal - no matter who they are. It helped him sharpen his mind, and build a strong mentality. Because of his harsh experience in life, he became confident in facing the world.
"Hey, Zane! Are you alright, man?"
Hearing Vale's voice, he looked behind him. He stared at Vale for a moment, he then said.
"Yup, I'm alright. Well, thanks to Kael."
Vale paused for a bit, then released a big sigh. He then said.
"Man, what were you thinking?! You could've avoided that fight! Well, on second thought maybe not, but still. What you did was too risky, and you were even thinking of facing them off alone?!"
Zane smiled awkwardly, he then said.
"Hey, calm down. I know, sorry about that. I was just pissed off, and I guess I couldn't help my self."
Vale paused for a while, he then said.
"Anyways, you were lucky, Kael appeared to stop the fight. Honestly, I also didn't expect that from him, but I have heard rumors about him having some hero complex, I guess that's why he saved you."
Zane raised an eyebrow, he then responded.
"...Hero complex? Seriously?"
Vale stared at him for a moment, he then nodded. Vale didn't seem to be that surprised after seeing Kael, well I mean Vale belonged to the Taren clan afterall. So, seeing someone as formidable as Kael, wasn't really surprising for him anymore. Ordinary people would have had a hard time breathing, after seeing Kael so close.
[...Someone with a hero complex, huh. I knew someone like that.]
[You did, Velrath?]
[Yeah, he died, though.]

[...Truly]
After the situation died down, Zane and Vale began changing their clothes.
Meanwhile, Kael had already went on his way after changing his clothes.
