Chapter 30 - Ethereal Lake [3]

Zane stared at his hand, his eyes fixed on the black mark on his forearm. A thin, jagged line ran across his skin, sharp points stretching out from the center like a crack in glass.

His were wide as he stared at the strange mark on his forearm, for some reason he knew where this mark had come from. Zane was slightly trembling, as a thought came into his mind.

'Could this be... the divine egg that Sylvaris wanted to give to me? She said that all I have to do is wait for it to hatch. Is this what she meant?'

It seems that Sylvaris attached the egg on Zane's forearm, or what Zane had theorized. Afterall, what could this mark be? A new ability perhaps? Zane cast the thought aside, he felt too exhausted to even think of anything right now.

Meanwhile, Velrath was looking at Zane strangely. Velrath had been observing Zane's behaviour ever since he woke up, and Zane was definitely acting strange.

[Hey, Zane? Just what the hell happened to you? I looked back towards you earlier, to see if any of the monsters that got passed me had attacked you somehow. But, you were suddenly gone. And it took me almost half an hour to find you, and when I found you, you were lying on the ground, unconscious.]

Zane shifted his gaze towards Velrath, startled by his statement. But, he already knows the answer to it. It seems that the moment he started running away from the monsters, Sylvaris had sent him in another dimension, in her dimension for whatever reason.

Zane couldn't really say that Sylvaris sent him in her dimension to save him. However, it wasn't a bad guess. Afterall, Sylvaris said that he would become one of the major figure who will one day over come the war.

'And, she also said about someone who will personally come find me one day... just who does she mean?'

Zane's mind was starting to hurt even more, no matter how much he tried to think of an answer, he really couldn't think of anything. He sighed, knowing that, all of the things Sylvaris said will remain a mystery for now. However, he could feel in his heart that one day. He will definitely find out the answer.

Why did Sylvaris give him a divine egg? Who does she mean by that 'person'? And what does she mean by me needing the divine egg soon, and me becoming an important figure to the war?'

"Hey, Zane. You are in deep thoughts again. And why do you keep looking on your forearm?"

Started by Velrath's voice, he said stuttering.

"O-oh right, sorry about that. I will explain everything later. For now, we have to get out of here."

"..."

"Hold on, can't you see it, Velrath?"

Velrath stared at him confusedly, he then said.

"See what?"

Zane paused for a moment, he stared at Velrath with a blank expression, he then said.

"T-the mark! The mark on my hand, can't you see it?"

Velrath stared at Zane with a straight face. He then said with a casual tone.

"Yup, you are definitely still half asleep."

He paused for a moment before continuing speaking, he then said.

"Anyways, let's get out of here before the monsters sense you again. Hell, it was rough holding all of them back with my current magical prowess."

Zane's expression was unchanged, he stared at Velrath for a moment, he then shook his head and said.

"...Alright."

'Could it be that, only I can see the mark on my forearm?'

Sigh

Right now, they had to get out of here as fast as they can. Not only will Zane have to worry about the monsters chasing after him, he will also have to worry getting discovered by the knights. Velrath's destructive spells probably alerted the knights guarding the forest. If he was discovered roaming around without a hunter's licence. He would have to face the consequences.

[Velrath, let's teleport back near the city.]

Although teleporting near the city might consume alot of mana, it wasn't really a big deal to someone like Zane. Infact, Zane still had a ton of mana reserves. All the spells he had used didn't really consume his mana that much, well, aside from the advance spells he used.

Although its not like it would matter. Zane's mana is technically close to infinite, so no matter how many spells he casted a spell, it wouldn't cause him any great troubles at all.

[Alright.]

Velrath then started to possess Zane's body. Since Zane still didn't know how to use the teleportation magic spell, he had to ask Velrath to do it himself. Velrath possessed Zane's body, which basically allowed him to peek on Zane's memory. However, not by choice.

Velrath actually can't see Zane's entire memory. He could only see the major parts of his memory that Zane can't stop thinking about. However, he could also stop Velrath from peeking a certain part of his memory, even the major parts, by only focusing on a certain experience.

For example, if Velrath tried to peek on Zane's memory, he could resist Velrath from peeking into his memory. By blocking his mind from thinking anything, Velrath wouldn't be able to see anything. Zane technically has the overhand of his own body.

Zane is only focusing on visualizing the structure of the place or spot he is trying to teleport to. Since he didn't really want Velrath to peek any more of his memories.

Zane then closed his eyes, he then visualised the structure of the place, trying to image the place in his mind.

Then, a golden magic circle formed below Zane. Golden particles also surrounded him. Not so long after, only an empty space could be seen, on the spot where Zane had been.

...

Slowly opening his eyes, he saw a carriage not so far away from him. For some reason, seeing the carriage, comforted Zane's mind. He didn't expect this so called 'gain experience' to turn into a surviving experience. Honestly, he didn't want to go back here anymore. Well, not until he had become stronger.

Putting all the hardships he experienced on this forest aside, he also learned alot about what he experienced here. He experienced fighting monsters for the first time, which gave him a grasp of what to do next time, when he encounters a bunch of monsters.

Usually, those who belongs on a clan that are known for their magical prowess, or their talents for using weapons, and summoning spirits, already have experience in facing off monsters. Which, might become a daily routine for Zane, once he moves to the main castle. So, this wasn't too bad, honestly.
