Chapter 443: Did Someone Call For Bug Spray?
"I feel like I should warn you, I am not a benevolent creature," chuckled the little girl in white as she stared down at the woman. "Out of all these humans here, only one will be saved. Are you sure you want it to be your son and not you?"
"I’ve lived my life," gasped the woman. Never taking her eyes away from her son, she continued to struggle toward him. "He has barely started his."
"Tell me your wish," whispered the girl. "And I’ll make it come true. All it will cost is your soul for all eternity." There was a long pause as the woman struggled to breathe. She could feel a sharp pain in her lungs and knew without a doubt that one of her ribs had punctured her lung and now it was filling up with blood.
Her mouth was coated with the metallic taste of her own blood, but she ignored it. "I wish for my son to live, no matter what. You are welcome to my soul, but..."
The girl let out a tsking sound as she shook her head in disappointment. "You are making a wish for your son’s life. Are you really trying to go back on our original bargain?"
"I want to be a ghost," hissed the woman as she moved forward an inch. The girl, still crouched, hopped after her like a little Easter Bunny, a bright smile on her face.
"A ghost sounds fun. I don’t think I’ve seen one of those around yet. Sure. I’ll let you be a ghost." With a snap of her fingers, the entire world stopped. "Do you have a favorite demon? I’m a sucker for all seven Sins, so if you want him to be a particular one, speak now or forever hold your peace."
"I don’t understand," muttered the woman as she came to her feet. The pain had disappeared the second the girl snapped her fingers, and without a second thought, she raced over to her son.
Finding a grown man standing on his back, the woman flew into a rage and pushed the man off her son before gathering Bobby in her arms. "Mommy is here. Everything is going to be fine. I found a nice little girl who will help us. I told you that I would protect you forever."
"Tick tock," said the girl, coming over to the mother and child. "Pick your demon."
"Sloth," spat out the woman, never looking away from her child. She could feel the life draining out of him as she continued to stroke his head. "I want him to never have to worry about anything. I want him to live a life of happiness and contentment."
The girl shrugged as she approached the kid. "Sloths are also nice to cuddle with," she assured the mother. "And you will be there to make sure that he has nothing to worry about, right?" A small blue flower appeared in the little girl’s hand, and she pushed it into the child.
The moment the flower was absorbed into the boy, his mouth opened, and two centipedes raced out. "The bugs aren’t fans of demons," smiled the girl. "It’s the best way to make sure that he stays alive."
"Thank you," sighed the woman, kissing the boy’s forehead. "Thank you so much."
Spinning around, the girl disappeared into thin air.

"Hattie LaRue!" bellowed Tank as he stalked through the Market Square. It was like a scene from a war zone. Buildings were crumbling, even as men and women raced past, screaming out in fear as worm-like bugs raced after them.
The way the bugs were moving was almost like dogs, rocking from side to side on more legs than any being should ever have. Their legs were moving so fast that it was like they were flying; nothing on the ground managed to slow them down. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
When a human fell or the bug got too close, the black creature would jump up, latching onto the human with its pinchers before injecting venom into its victim.
The only thing that seemed to scare the bugs were Tank and the rest of the men as they raced into the heart of the chaos. It didn’t take long before the humans realized that the bugs avoided the nine men and started to crowd around them.
"Save us!" begged one woman as she threw herself into Lust’s arms. Her legs wrapped around his waist tightly as she buried her face in his neck and sobbed. "Please," she begged, her lips brushing against his skin. "I’ll do anything."
"Fucking hell," grunted Lust, shuddering at her touch. Without even thinking, a dark mist flowed over him, seeping into the woman where the two of them were touching. "I really don’t like to be touched."
Letting out one last gasp, the woman fell onto the ground, her face rotting from Lust’s toxic mist.
"Harsh," smirked Wrath as he wrapped his hand around the man as he got too close. "But effective." With a slight move of his wrist, he snapped the human’s neck before dropping him to the ground.
"Why are they all coming to us?" demanded Sloth as he side-stepped around a child who was trying to grab his thigh. "Shoo," he muttered, flicking his hand away. "Get away."
"The bugs don’t like demons," announced Hattie, appearing in the center of the men. Her white dress and shoes were covered in blood, but the bright smile on her face let the guys know just how happy she really was.
"Happy?" muttered Envy as he used his thumb to brush a speck of blood from her cheek.
"I did my good deed for the year and saved a kid. Of course, I am happy," smiled Hattie as she looked up at the man. "But I’m afraid that if Bishop doesn’t hurry his ass up, the Sanctuary is going to fall all on its own."
The men nodded their heads as more panicked screams echoed around them.
"Did someone call for some bug spray?" smirked Eric, appearing in front of Pride with twenty men at his back. "Because I just so happen to have some on hand."
