Chapter 474: And That’s When I Knew...

Li Dai Lu let out a long sigh as she left City A Base, her ’best friend’ still recovering from her time in Camp Hell.

"Not what I was expecting," she sighed as she and her men continued to walk down the path in front of them. Normally, she would have already pulled out her RV and disappeared into the night, but she was still too out of sorts for something like that to happen.

"What were you expecting?" asked Wang Chao, his eyes scanning everything around them. There was something different in the air, and he didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. All he knew was that they had managed to destroy Camp Hell, and that part of his woman’s life was over and done with.

And she was expecting twins.

"I say we go back to the mountain," grunted Liu Wei, adjusting his glasses. "At least until the babies are born. Not that we’ve dealt with everything, I think we need to take some time to ourselves."

"We had two years of that," reminded Li Dai Lu as she decided that they were far enough from the base to take out the RVs. "Remember?"

"You weren’t pregnant then, remember?" smirked Liu Yu Zeng. "I’m with big brother on that one. We go where we know it’s safe."

"We go where Li Dai Lu wants us to go," grunted Chen Zi Han, glaring at Liu Yu Zeng. "But if you don’t think that you can protect her..."

"Oh fuck you and the horse you rode in on," sneered Liu Yu Zeng. "All I am saying is that with the twins, we have different priorities right now."

"Do we?" muttered Li Dai Lu, closing her eyes for a moment as she took in a deep breath. "I just wish I knew what to do next and where to go. Is that really so much to ask? I mean..." Her voice tailed off as everyone climbed into the RV.

Liu Yu Zeng got behind the wheel and started the camper even as Chen Zi Han went straight into the kitchen to make his woman a meal.

"I could really use a cup of coffee," sighed Li Dai Lu as she collapsed into Liu Wei’s arms. "And a cake."

"No coffee," replied Chen Zi Han. "We have to limit your coffee intake while you are pregnant. We don’t want it to harm the babies."

"Careful," snarled their woman, looking more like a rabid raccoon as she twisted her head to look at the man. "Rule #1 still applies."

-----

"You good?" asked Dante, his voice soft and soothing, the moment I appeared in the kitchen. Apparently, my house had decided to bring everyone back to the same place. I guess it didn’t want me wandering back to paradise looking for the guys.

"I will be," I shrugged. It wasn’t so much the wish that I didn’t care about. It was the house now trying to take more and more control than what it should have. If this wasn’t a perfect example of ’be careful what you wish for,’ I didn’t know what was.

After all, I created this place to be my home. To be my sanctuary, a place that I could go and hide away from everyone.

And now look at it.

"I say we watch a movie," smiled Beau, trying to lighten everything up. "How about we watch every superhero movie that has ever been created from beginning to end. That should take us a few days, right?"

I blinked at the smile on his face. Honestly, that seemed a little too close to cruel and unusual punishment for me to be that happy about it. Not to mention how many crappy versions had come out when it came to some superheroes.

For once, I think I almost wanted a wish to come in, simply so that I could avoid that particular brand of torture.

The moment the house disappeared again, I knew...

I fucked up.

------

Appearing in the middle of what looked like a mobile home, I stared dumbfounded at the scene in front of me. A woman was sitting on the lap of a man, and there were three others around her. One was making something that smelled really good in the mini kitchen. One sitting beside her and the third, driving the thing.

"What the fuck!" growled the one in the kitchen, spotting me first. Before I could say anything, let along grumble at the really uncomfortable situation I had found myself in, I felt something try to suck the very life out of my body.

"Yeah," I grunted, becoming pissed. "We’re not going to be doing that." Stepping back, I didn’t know how I did it, but I managed to break away from whatever power was trying to drain me dry.

The RV, because that was all it could be, slammed to a stop, causing me to lose my balance. "What in the sweet fuck is going on here?" I grumbled, flinging my arms out to catch myself. Realizing that I wasn’t speaking English anymore, I continued to curse under my breath.

"That is what I would like to know," smiled the man, sitting on the couch. He wasn’t the one with the woman on his lap, but the way he looked at me, the way he smiled...

He might actually be able to rival Dante or Chang Xuefeng with that look and aura.

"Just how did you manage to find your way in here, and how do you want to die?"

The woman had remained silent, her eyes narrowing on me as she studied me. "You are new. I don’t remember meeting you in my last life."

Fucking hell. Another rebirther.

"Don’t act like you are anything special," I snarled, rolling my eyes. "I think I could throw a rock into the air and have it land on someone who had been reborn. But I digress. Which one of you made a wish? Hurry up and tell me now before the guys figure out that I am really not in K City anymore."

The woman cocked her head to the side as she stared at my chest. I might have taken offence if she hadn’t acted like she was looking through me. "Why don’t you have a flame?"
