Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 478: The Original Gods
Chapter 478: The Original Gods
"You aren’t making any sense," said Li Dai Lu, her head held high. "You aren’t trying to get out of your side of the deal, are you?"
"I wouldn’t dream of it," sighed Daddy, rolling his eyes. "Are you paying attention? I’m only going to say this once. The Originals were never born, nor created. They cannot die because they have always just been."
"That is the worst explanation I have ever heard," sneered Liu Yu Zeng. "And I’ve heard a lot of excuses. How can something just be?"
"There are six Originals," sneered Daddy and I could tell that he was getting to the end of his patience. "Creation and Destruction. Meet Destruction." Pointing to Eric, Daddy continued. "While Cain might have been born from Eve, the moment he decided to commit the first murder, he became one of the Originals. Destruction is..."
"Fun," purred Eric. "It’s why I can’t stay dead. I’m not reborn, I don’t transmigrate into another body... I look the exact same as I did as a kid. It’s kind of fun, really."
"You were born, that means you aren’t an Original," sneered Wang Chao. "Nice try though."
"The next pair is Chaos and Balance," continued Daddy, talking over Wang Chao. "Chaos was around before Creation was, but neither one were born. But everything in the universe needs balance, and that is where Hattie comes in. Even her wishes balance everything out. She had Chaos in her, but she also had order. She was never born; Chaos didn’t fuck a woman and Hattie came out as a result. She was created from the universe as a way of leveling out Chaos."
I kept my mouth shut since all of this was new to me. For a moment, I wondered how Daddy knew all of this when I didn’t, but then I figured out it was Daddy. He’s been around long enough to know everything.
"Death," said Liu Wei, his chin jutting out as he stared down Chang Xuefeng. "No one created Death."
"Nope," agreed Daddy with a smile. "Death is one of the Originals, too. However, Death can’t be chained down. Reapers can. Want to guess where you stand on that scale?"
"I am Death. Just like my brothers are the other Horsemen," disagreed Liu Wei.
"You are nothing more than a child created when people demanded an explanation of why there was war and death. But you are unable to separate yourself from War, Famine, and Disease which means that you are an agent of death, but not Death itself."
When Liu Wei opened his mouth, Chang Xiefeng quickly slapped him down. "I mean, if you want to test your theory... let’s see who will die first. I assume that you have a flame?"
"I protect it," announced Li Dai Lu.
"But he still has it," smirked Désiré. "Which means that he can be snuffed out like a candle on a birthday cake."
"Try to kill me," shrugged Chang Xuefeng, putting out the challenge. "I’ll even be nice and let you go first. That way, when I kill you, your brothers can’t bitch and complain."
"Liu Wei," snapped Li Dai Lu, her eyes burrowing in on me. "Step back."
"Now there’s a woman with a brain," praised Ronan. "You should use it more. Might help with things."
"Who is the sixth Original God?" asked Wang Chao, stomping down his temper.
"Time," shrugged Daddy. "I can’t say I’ve met the person, but like recognizes like."
"And you swear that this is the truth as you know it?" sighed Li Dai Lu. Cocking my head to the side, I realized that she finally realized that the five of them wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight.
"It is the truth," sneered Daddy, his face impassive. "Whether you believe it or not, it doesn’t change a thing. The flames that you see are the life, the soul of someone or something. Everything that had been created has it."
"And you’ve always been the Original Death?" muttered Chen Zi Han.
"I considered myself the Angel of Death," nodded Daddy. "Until I broke the chains holding me down. That was when I realized just what I truly was."
"So if I had broken the chains, I could have been the Original?" snarled Liu Wei.
"No," Chang Xuefeng smirked. "You never stood a chance."
------
The moment the deal had been fulfilled on both ends, I found myself back home. Well, home was a bit of a stretch. I found myself on the other side of the bridge, leading to my home.
I was really going to have to figure out a way take a more active role in my... transportation.
"Balance, huh?" I murmured, looking over my shoulder as the guys appeared behind me. "Are you sure about that? I don’t feel very balanced."
"You create realms for those who don’t have a home," pointed out Dante as he wrapped his arms around me.
"You are merciful to those who have been betrayed," reminded Ronan, smiling at me gently.
"You destroy those who deserve it most," continued Dimitri. Walking over to where I stood, he took my hand, ignoring Dante, and kissed it.
"You create chaos when the world needs to burn," said Salvatore.
"And you calm things down when it is time to rebuild," finished Désiré. "I think you are the epitome of Balance."
Letting out a long sigh, I decided to put a pin in that whole thing. Like Li Dai Lu, I was a bit skeptical when it came to Daddy’s explanation, but at the same time, I would never doubt him.
"I think you need a nap," smiled Eric, plucking me away from Dante and carrying me over the bridge. "I’m even going to hand cuff you to me so that the house can’t make you disappear."
I paused for a moment before nodding my head. "I think I like that idea."
The door opened before I could so much as touch the knob. "Welcome home, Princess," smiled Papa Khaos as he looked at me in Eric’s arms. "He’s a new one... or an old one, depending on how you look at things."
Eric looked at me, trying to take his cues from mine. "Meet Papa Khaos," I smiled, even as Eric placed me gently on the ground. "He is the Original God Chaos... and the one who gave me part of himself so that I could... exist."
Yeah, that was going to take me a while to accept.
