Chapter 496: The Other Woman

I couldn’t help but burst out laughing at Bishop’s statement. I mean, he wasn’t wrong, but clearly he was missing the point.

"You’re right," I agreed, seemingly surprising him with that statement. "But at the same time, you are oh so wrong. Want to know why?"

"If everyone is replaceable, then why aren’t you?" hissed Bishop, trying to raise his head. However, even the fact that he couldn’t was telling.

"Because I’m not just anyone," I snickered, crouching down until I was right in front of him. "I’m the fucking Devil." Coming to my feet, I let out a long sigh as I studied the demon. "I think I have a love/hate relationship with you," I continued. "Just when I think you’ve been redeemed, you go and do something stupid again."

"I hate you," growled Bishop, his eyes flashing as his demon tried to rise. However, the idiot didn’t realize that by calling on his demon, I had already won. "When you turned your back on Sanctuary and refused to help us, I already knew that I wanted nothing more to do with you. You are the one who ruined what we had. Not me."

"What we had?" I sneered, checking my nails. I could tell that Bishop’s comment was pissing off Tank who was hiding in the shadows, but the smart Hellhound knew better than to interfere. "You’re acting like a jilted lover. We never had anything. I was useful to you, so you liked me. The moment I refused to be used, you didn’t. That sounds like a you problem. Now. I highly suggest that you submit before you die."

His face twisting in pain, Bishop’s head dropped forward like the weight of the world was on it.

Such a dramatic man.

"Fine," he snarled through gritted teeth. "I submit."

"Too bad," I pouted, feeling the chain between us snapping into place. "And I was so looking forward to your second fall. Oh well, better luck next time, I guess."

Snapping my fingers, I went to the next person calling me, Tank hot on my heels.

"Lucifer," the man who said my name said it with such ecstasy that for a second, I thought he was going to come in his pants. "I knew you would come for me."

"I hate to break it to you," I muttered, cocking my head to the side as I stared at the man. He looked familiar, he really did. But for the life of me, I couldn’t remember where I had last seen him. "But I don’t even know who you are."

The man’s face slackened, like I had just told him I killed, mutilated, and ate his mother, all in one go. Seriously, the man was devastated. And all because I said that I didn’t know who he was.

"That’s Adam," announced Chang Xuefeng as both he and Tank appeared in the small closet of a room. "He’s tried to kill you a few times now." freēnovelkiss.com

"I’d never hurt a hair on her head," snarled Adam, his eyes narrowing on my men like a beast ready to defend its territory. "I’ve been trying to kill all of you."

"And doing a very shitty job of it," smirked Tank, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "After all, we’re still standing."

"You don’t deserve her," snarled Adam, lunging toward Chang Xuefeng. However, before he could so much as touch my Daddy, someone yanked him from behind.

"Let’s use your big brain," chuckled Eric, tossing Adam into the only chair in the room before coming over to stand beside me. "You are the one who doesn’t deserve her."

"You know nothing," hissed Adam, his eyes narrowing on Eric. "You have no idea what life was like before your mother showed up."

"Showed up," nodded Eric. "Right. Like she wasn’t taken from your side to be your lifelong companion. I have never seen a woman so devoted to someone... she might as well have come from your feet with how much you walk all over her."

"That’s the point," hissed Adam, turning to me. "I was made for you. Created to be your partner in every way. If Eve had never shown up, our lives would..."

"Honestly," I said, holding up my hand. "I probably would have ended up killing you long before this point."

Eric didn’t even bother to suppress his bark of laughter at my comment. "If you think that’s bad, you should see the body he’s built for you."

"Come again," grunted Cheng Xuefeng, his eyes turning completely white as he looked at Adam.

"Father dearest has a sleeping version of you locked away in the side room," smirked Eric, even as Adam turned pale. "I told him that it was nothing close to the original, but he refused to give up. He was looking for a way of bringing her back to life, to be his wife."

A gasp at the door told me that we were no longer alone. Spinning around, I actually recognized the woman in the doorway. "Eve, right? You are the one who helped me find Tink. Thanks for that," I smiled at her.

However, she wasn’t even hearing me.

"Why can’t you just appreciate what you have?" she begged, her steps faltering as she stepped into the overcrowded room. "Why couldn’t you love me the way that I love you? What have I done that deserves this? Why..."

Her voice trailed off as Adam’s face turned dark. "Because," he hissed. "You have no backbone. No will. You bend and bend and bend until you are practically kissing your own ass. Talking to you is like talking to a wall or watching paint dry. After countless years of you being at my side, I want to rip my eyeballs out every time I see you."

The room was so silent that you could hear a pin drop. However, Adam wasn’t even close to being done.

"I hate you with every aspect of my being. If you didn’t take a bite of the apple, then I could have still been by her side. It would have been the three of us, and everything would have been perfect."

"She’s the one who gave me the apple!" screamed Eve, pointing to me. "I was trying to be like her, I was trying to be what you wanted! Of course I gave you the apple that she gave me. How else would I ever get you to look at me?"

"Why do I feel like I am the other woman?" I asked, even as Eric scoffed at my question and Tank’s shoulders started to shake.

"Because you are!"
