Chapter 151: Chapter 151 A Hideous Past

Kelly’s POV

“What do you mean?” Matt’s face darkened and he clenched his jaws. It looks like he doesn’t have any idea about what’s happening in the family he’s trying to protect. I understand him. As part of the Foster family, he wanted to keep it intact. But unfortunately for him, the family has been ruined a long time ago.

I laughed sarcastically. “Will you still help me if I tell you that your parents might be involved?”

He took a single step forward. “What do you mean, Kelly?”

“Don’t try to help me without knowing what’s happening behind the curtain, Matt. You might end up ruining yourself.”

I walked past him but he firmly held my elbow, gripping it tight. “Just fcking tell me what’s happening in this family, Kelly.”

“It’s for you to find out,” I answered coldly and pulled my arm back. I entered the house completely as Emily and Felicia followed me.

“This is the study room, Miss Kelly. Everything valuable was being kept inside this room. This...” She grabbed a thick photo album as she smiled at me. “Compiled here are the photos of your mom and her siblings on their special occasions.”

I stared at her and sat on the couch. She handed me the photo album which I gladly accepted while Emily was roaming around the room.

I caressed the thick cover of the photo album. It was obviously personalized since it has letters engraved on it. Foster. I’d like to be part of this family since I lost mine, but they don’t want me so I had no choice but to accept it.

“Felicia...” I called using a calm and sad voice. “Can you tell me about this family?”

“Sure, Miss Kelly.”

I slowly opened the photo album. The first photo was of two people, an old man and woman.

“Those are your great grandmother and great grandfather. They died in a car accident together. Leaving their two children. Your grandma and grandpa.”

I flipped the page and I saw a photo of a familiar woman. My grandma. My mom’s mother. Beside her was a man who resembled her. I know things about my grandmother. She was a single parent. She became a mistress of her husband without realizing it and after she learned that, she left him and raised her children alone. She didn’t even let her children carry their father’s name.

When I flipped the page again, a photo of my mom welcomed me. Tears pooled in the corner of my eyes. My mom was so young but my heart recognized that it’s her.

“Your mom was a bright child, Miss Kelly. She was adored by your parents the most. Reason why your uncle Connor and aunt Sara started hating her at a young age.” ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

I pressed my trembling lips. “She was so precious, Felicia. My mom looked very kind.”

“She was. My mother told me how kind she was.”

I squeezed my eyes closed and flipped the page after opening my eyes again. It’s mom again, wearing a party hat and blowing the candles of a huge cake.

“Mom...” I sobbed as I continued flipping the page until I could no longer find any photo of my mother.

“Y-Your mom was abducted at the age of 12, Miss Kelly. Your grandparents did everything to find her and when they did...the kidnappers tried to flee away with your mom until the car exploded...with your mom inside.”

My hands trembled. I feel so heartbroken. My heart was clenching just by thinking about what mom had gone through.

“My mother regretted everything, Miss Kelly. While the Foster family is mourning for your mom, my own mother was suffering alone. She was even blamed for your mom’s abduction.”

I shook my head and wiped my tears. I looked at Felicia. “No, Felicia. My mom didn’t die that day.”

She nodded and smiled. “She didn’t, Miss Kelly. And you are the living proof.”

I sniffed and caressed my mom’s photo again before I lifted my face. “Did your mother tell you anything about what happened before?”

Felicia became alert. She roamed her eyes around and it landed on Emily who’s examining the shelf of books.

“It’s fine. Emily’s my friend. You can trust her,” I said to Felicia as I saw hesitation in her eyes.

Slowly, she nodded and stared at my eyes intensely. “Miss Kelly, my mother thinks that it was your grandma’s brother who paid someone to abduct your mother.”

My forehead creased. “W-What do you mean?”

She sighed. “Don Gallian Foster doesn’t like your mother because at a young age, her future was already dictated by your grandmother. Since your grandmother was the eldest and the one managing the family business, your grandmother expected your mom to grow as a woman who can manage the family business.”

I gritted my teeth and balled my fists. “So he paid someone to kidnap his sister’s child?”

“That was what my mother thinks.”

“It could be true...”

“But there’s no way to confirm it now since Don Gallian died a long time ago.”

I swallowed hard. “Does he have a family?”

She shook her head. “He was too busy hating your mother. But I heard he has an adopted kid. I just don’t know his name.”

I slowly nodded. “Thank you, Felicia. It’s a great thing we came here.”

“Of course, Miss Kelly. But...I heard you’re investigating your mother’s death.” Her eyes were worried and hopeful.

My forehead creased. She knows something even when I didn’t tell her about it when I called. “Who told you?”

“Your aunt Sara came here not a week ago. She asked me things about how Attorney Lee found you and your mom’s whereabouts. I couldn’t say anything because I don’t know about that.”

I pressed my lips together. Sara’s starting to investigate on her own. Does that mean she wants to know the truth? But the real question is...is she on my side?

The door suddenly slammed open. Matt, with a raging expression entered and walked towards us. He glared at Felicia. “Say it again.”

Felicia looked shocked and scared at the same time. “S-Sir Matt...”

Matt gasped and turned his back as he pulled his hair. He looked at me with eyes full of disappointment. “A-Are you saying this family is hiding a hideous past?”

I gritted my teeth. “If you don’t believe me, you can investigate on your own. Just ready your heart because...it might hurt you real bad.”
