[BL] Debut in Interstellar After Retiring as Grim Reaper-Chapter 157 - 156: Stand
Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Stand
Chapter 156: Stand
"Stand at the edge of the cliff
Where I can no longer step..."
Gu Yijin opened the performance officially as he started singing. The background in their performance is on the top of a high mountain. However, the atmosphere is unlike a mountain that is full of green and bright colors from flowers. It’s not about the refreshing atmosphere that brings soothing energy, instead they are in the mountains with no leaves nor any color other than the dried leaves and branches on the ground. The large trees without any life and even near a cliff.
"Take one step and maybe you’ll die
Take a breath but feels unreal,
Can you survive?"
Xu Jingzhuan seconded with his deep voice. Their movements were fast and within precision, with an undoubtedly stubbornness that’s inside them. No matter how lifeless they live, no matter how cruel where they are, they will still stand.
"If the world will crumbs,
I will still stand.
I will grow— will always be unwavered..."
Gu Yijin is never an expressive person. Just like his personality, he is very silent— a person that seems born to be a lone wolf. But then, how did he end up like this?
Gu Yijin’s parents died in a Zerg war. His parents are both soldiers who dedicated their lives to the country, thus he knew that keeping himself still will not be the answer for his loss. His family died as a hero so he had no choice but to face the reality all by himself.
Due to his parents’ insurance, Gu Yijinwas able to live by himself from a young age. The authorities tried to send him to his relatives but he refused firmly, saying no one can take care of him other than himself. Fortunately, the government is very open to minors. They let him live for himself after seeing his ability to do basic needs and decide for himself. He was allowed in the condition for a monthly visit from the government.
Due to this, other than saving himself from those greedy relatives, he became independent... for too long and too much.
Gu Yijin was able to fend for himself and tried various ways to survive, thus he grew quickly and early. Gu Yijin used to be himself.
From the start, he knew he was not suitable for this competition.
He doesn’t have a companion and doesn’t know how to mingle with others. This was the most crucial if you want to debut as a group.
He doesn’t know how to fit himself, so how did he decide to join this competition rather than joining a single one?
"I can still stand, can I?
Even if I’m at the edge— I can!"
The performance heated when the air rushed through the whole venue. The crowd seems to hear the sharp whistle from the air— like shouts from someone saying he can stand still no matter what happens.
... Until Gu Yijin who took steps forward and abruptly fell from the cliff.
"!!!"
The crowd gasped in horror. Yet the scene stayed at the peak when Xu Jingzhuan moved fast and swiftly caught Gu Yijin’s hand.
While the members were performing behind them, the two were in a tight situation. They can hear Xi Jingzhuan’s hard breathing as if he was getting tired from holding Gu Yijin’s hand. Until such time, their clasp hands slowly slide down little by little.
Seeing this critical situation made the crowd feel anxious. Their hands are loose! Gu Yijin will fall!
Some couldn’t even help but stand and look at their situation. Even if they knew this was just an illusion created by their mental powers— what they’re seeing cannot endanger the young man’s life, yet they couldn’t help but hold their breath and they were caught off guard by this sudden scene.
"But I fell down and face the truth,
Maybe I cannot stand and grow..."
As soon as these words were sung by a member, the music suddenly stopped and the members also froze in their feet.
In the next second, Gu Yijin and Xu Jingzhuan’s hand separated and Gu Yijin fell down. It was already a shocking moment but what made everyone gasp again was Xu Jingzhuan didn’t stand still, instead— he jumped down.
"Ahh!" Some from the audience couldn’t help but scream lightly from this shock. Their faces turn pale but unexpectedly, the other team members didn’t even take a single action on this incident.
Gu Yijin’s team looked at everyone with a blank expression on their face. Half of their faces were covered by the dark and it felt like a daunting atmosphere.
"..."
The crowd once held their breath again for these abrupt changes of the atmosphere. Seconds passed still but the performance remained frozen that some trainees couldn’t help but look at each other in confusion.
They knew that there’s nothing wrong because they trust the management but they were just in doubt why they froze for some time.
Another thing is that the silence feels too eerie.
Unlike the sharp felt screams of the air, this silence is sending shivers down their spine.
Although it was just silence... The unknown feeling that gradually creeps inside them is giving them anxiety.
The unknown that doesn’t give them a mystery but instead shaking their nerves as seconds clocking by.
And just as their anxiety is on the higher peak, the center of the stage floor opens and Gu Yijin jumps high from below, revealing his new appearance.
"!!!" The crowd gasped in surprise again and looked at the young man with wide eyes.
Gu Yijin’s clothes have blood stains on it. His face has scars and his body has bruises probably from that ’fall’. However, the eyes that are full of stubborn and unyielding never fades inside him.
"Just I thought I succeed alone,
It turns out that I’m with you..."
Yet when he sang these words, the stubbornness lessened with a softer gaze. Xu Jingzhuan walked from behind the members with the same state as Gu Yijin— scars and wounds all over his body.
"I can stand without being alone—
Withstand it and never regret it..."
Gu Yijin thought he was not fitted in this group when Xu Jingzhuan picked him. As he said, he was a loner and he never knew how to be with someone.
Yet things changed just like the lyrics.
He was alone, but they were there.
He was struggling alone but they were willing to lend their hands so he could stand still beside them.
Gu Yijin never knew the definition of companion but through this competition, he learned and realized how great it will be if he can debut and go together with his team.
Walking to the path didn’t seem too lonely for him now because he felt that at each step he took, there would be people who’s with him, just like his parents.
"I’ll grow,
I stand and survive with you..."
Gu Yijin’s team ended the performance with these lyrics and at the same time, the dried and withered mountain gradually changed. Little greens started to grow— the leaves from the trees, the grass on the ground and some small flowers with white colors that gave the freshness of this concept, the total contrast from earlier.
When the whole mountain scenario finally changed, their performance officially ended. Gu Yijin’s tem quickly stood in line horizontally and bowed to everyone.

Before Han Suwen’s team went to the stage, Director Qian called the shooting pause for a while and called Bai Yue to the secret room. As for the others, Qian Jin instructed the staff to do an individual interview for a moment.
The trainees each went to the small room and sat down in front of the camera.
A virtual question floated in the air.
[ How do you think your performance was? ]
"I’m actually still nervous until now." Sheng Yan answered as he shyly smiled. "It was my first time showcasing that theme but I really do love it. I also hope I can perform like these concepts or with different styles from the other trainees."
[ Who’s group performance caught your interest the most? ]
"As for now, I like Classmate Gu’s team." He Yan answered and felt envy. "I also want exciting situations like them. It was so new and I want to try different styles. So I hope I can perform like them." He Yan nodded repeatedly at the camera as if he was hinting the staff behind baldly.
"By the way, I’m anticipating the next group! It’s Classmate Han, right? I wanted to see Qin An and Brother Ren on stage together!" He happily said but slightly pouted afterwards as he looked at the camera again with an eager hint in his eyes.
"I’m so envious that they actually grouped together." He sighs dramatically. "This is really my biggest wish. I want to be with Brother Lou and Qin An!"
The staff at the back of the camera looked at the monitor wherein the young man’s eyes were shining brightly and looked at them with such anticipation. They felt funny but speechless at the same time.
They can’t decide on this matter, alright? But they also wanted to! The stuff outside is already enough to give them headaches so they wanted something refreshing.
It’s just that they really have no choice this time as Bai Yue’s situation is getting bigger and scandalous.
Qian Jin talked to Bai Yue about the matter but the results just surprised them.
Because Bai Yue wanted to do a live confession after their performance on stage.
