Chapter 262: Chapter 138: Exploring the Legendary "Holy Shrine"! - Part 2

Ronan thought to himself as he casually extinguished the ice and snow vortex in his palm, withdrawing from his meditation on self-cultivation, and cast his gaze forward.

Over the vast snowy forest, the sky stretched wide open, with only his solitary figure flying.

This place felt familiar; Ronan had been here before. It was exactly where Soraya had taken him hunting the Third Rank Cold-Scale Python.

The three Cold-Scale Pythons that carried a trace of the Ancient Ice Crystal Demon Snake bloodline no longer existed here, and the people from the three great Wizard families of White Stone Castle had long withdrawn. One could say this area no longer held any value for exploration.

But Ronan still wanted to take a look.

It was mainly because this matter involved Angelie, making Ronan unable to curb his curiosity about what exactly Angelie’s group aimed to achieve by coming here.

"It seems to be around here..."

Ronan flew over an area.

Looking up, the ground was a mess, filled with huge scars left from the bombardment of Spells.

This place was originally a dense forest, but now it was completely flattened, and in many areas, one could still see snake tracks as massive as huge wagon wheels.

Three days ago, it was here that Soraya and four other Level 3 Wizards battled the three Cold-Scale Pythons. The energy particles in this area hadn’t dispersed evenly and were obviously much colder than other places.

Following the traces left by the Cold-Scale Pythons, Ronan slowly searched in a direction.

After flying out for a few miles, he finally found the Python’s nest—

It was a supermassive pit!

Thick white fog lingered above the huge pit, with lots of ancient vines and rotten branches covered in frost crisscrossing each other, forming a thick natural fabric that almost entirely covered the pit, leaving only a narrow crevice in the center.

Looking down from above, the pit appeared like a giant black snake’s eye, with the pervasive white fog as the sclera and the narrow crevice as the slit-like pupil.

Even though the Cold-Scale Pythons that resided in this nest were no longer there, cold air continuously spewed out from the crevice, forming the white fog above the pit.

Ronan looked around and, finding no other suspicious places apart from this nest, decided to go deeper for a look.

His eyes shimmered with a faint white light, and a rune pattern resembling an eye faintly appeared at the center of his forehead, signaling the activation of Expert Level Detection Skill.

He casually tossed a fireball into the crevice of the snake nest’s entrance. The blazing fireball shrank rapidly under the intense cold as it entered the crevice, and the light it cast was much less than what Ronan had expected.

Ronan inwardly felt a shock; just the residual cold air was enough to strongly suppress his Fireball Technique.

Although it was only a Low Zero Rank Level Magic, it was important to note that he was a proper Second-level Wizard, and a casually cast Zero Rank Magic from him should surpass the power of an ordinary First Rank Magic.

It was simply inconceivable.

Ronan threw several more Fireball Techniques, even igniting some of the dry vines and decaying wood around the crevice, before slowly approaching.

With Expert Level Detection Skill combined with his Body Forging instinct, Ronan didn’t sense any unknown danger hidden within the nest.

He slowly sneaked into the nest and immediately felt his body enveloped by a profound coldness and darkness.

Continuously casting Fireball Techniques around him, the cold was barely driven away, and the firelight gradually illuminated the scene inside the pit.

The pit was much shallower than Ronan had imagined, reaching the bottom after just about thirty meters.

The bottom was a large black circular platform scattered with the bones of various Magic Beasts, and more bones piled up in a circular pattern around the platform. Some skulls were enormous and fearsome, their hollow eye sockets eerily staring at Ronan under the firelight’s glow.

Ronan gently landed on the platform, his feet stepping into a thick, slippery layer of Cold-Scale Python’s body fluid, extremely resistant to cold and not easily frozen, usable as a material for concocting certain Spell Potions.

It was clear that the snake nest had been searched before; anything of slight value had already been taken, leaving only the snake liquid and scattered broken bones that the Level 3 Wizards had overlooked.

Ronan took out an empty Potion vial, casually collected some snake liquid into the bottle, then gently shifted the scattered bones under his feet with his spiritual power to inspect the patterns on the black platform.

This was probably the ancient ruin Soraya had mentioned.

This ruin was probably the simplest and most rudimentary Ronan had ever encountered.

His spiritual power detected that the surrounding area and underneath were all unexcavated soil and stone; the entire extent of the ruin was just this small, and it had also been used as a nest by the Cold-Scale Python.

However, judging by the degree of decay of the bones on the ground, it hasn’t been long since the giant pit relic was turned into a Snake Nest, at most a few months, definitely not more than a year.

Soraya said that the three Cold-Scaled Pythons they hunted were all drained of essence blood, like they had just gone through a major battle and were not yet healed, probably because of the impact of attacking the relic’s barrier.

And the "thing" hidden within the relic might be the key to the awakening of the Ancient Ice Crystal Demon Snake Bloodline in the three Cold-Scaled Pythons, and very likely the real reason Angelie and her group were here.

The pattern on the black platform underfoot was as simple as could be, just some rough lines, indecipherable in meaning.

Ronan casually threw out a few Fireball Techniques, using the light bursting from the ascending fireballs to look around the illuminated walls of the giant pit.

Indeed, there were some mysterious ancient patterns on the circular inner walls of the giant pit.

Ronan squinted his eyes and observed carefully for a while, feeling that part of the drawings seemed to depict some ancient ritual, but due to severe damage and the erosion of cold air, many patterns were indistinguishable, and he was uncertain if they were really what he thought were ritual images.

"Four Level 3 Wizards’ combined knowledge couldn’t figure it out, what could I possibly discern?"

Ronan shook his head and suddenly noticed something hidden behind a large pile of broken bones on the platform directly in front of him.

He released a burst of spiritual power, clearing away the bones blocking his view, and finally saw what was behind them.

It was a broken black Stone Pillar.

Placed on a pedestal slightly higher than the platform.

The Stone Pillar was only about two meters tall, with a pair of wing-like ornaments extending from both sides at the top, forming a semi-circle with the pillar itself.

Carved on the Stone Pillar was an image of a kneeling woman, her hands raised upwards, the open palms just coinciding with the ornaments extending from the sides of the pillar’s top, giving the impression of a person kneeling on the ground, struggling to support something above.

Aside from some ancient and mysterious aura, the Stone Pillar looked plain, with no trace of residual Energy Particles.

However, at the moment Ronan saw this Stone Pillar, his mind "buzzed," slightly vibrating.

He stared at the black Stone Pillar in front of him, his mind flashing through a large amount of information and images at the speed of light...

He was sure he had seen or read about this type of Stone Pillar sculptures somewhere.

Where?

It seemed like...

"Shua—"

A faint light flickered from Ronan’s Space Ring, and an old, yellowed notebook quietly appeared in his hand.

The notebook flipped open by itself without wind, making a "whoosh" sound.

Finally, it settled quietly on a particular page.

On that page, there was a hand-drawn picture, the item depicted... was almost identical to the statue Stone Pillar in front of Ronan!

"Hiss—"

Ronan gasped lightly, incredulously comparing the statue Stone Pillar in front of him with the content in the notebook in his hands, his eyes growing brighter. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

This notebook had been in his storage item for a very long time.

The notebook came from Old Wells.

Mainly recorded in the notebook was the method to store a mysterious power known as "Holy Shrine Power."

And according to the notebook, the ancient statue Stone Pillar now before Ronan... was just as described in the notebook, the so-called—"Holy Shrine!"

Inside the semi-circle at the top of the statue Stone Pillar, there supposed to be "Holy Shrine Power" stored.

Of course, it had now disappeared, having been taken away.

Or rather... it had been eaten by the snake!
