Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 144: Name
Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Name
For a moment, there was only silence. Then, slowly, the lid of the box opened, and Luna’s pale, trembling face peeked out.
"I-It’s me..." Luna whispered.
One of the men spoke into his earpiece. "Sir, we’ve found the young lady. She’s safe."
Adam Price’s jaw dropped. "What... What’s going on?"
Before he could make sense of the situation, more men in black suits entered the room.
And right behind them was a middle-aged man with brown hair, wearing a sleek, expensive suit.
His eyes were frantic, his expression full of worry. But the moment he saw Luna, his whole face changed.
"Luna!" he called out, rushing forward. His voice cracked with emotion.
"Dad?" Luna whispered, her own voice shaky.
The man reached her and wrapped her in a tight hug, tears glistening in his eyes.
"I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I should have found you sooner. Are you hurt? Did anyone hurt you?"
Dad?
Adam Price was shocked.
He knew the man in front of him. His name was Nathan Griffin. The owner of a well know metal company.
His worth was in the millions!
He was a millionaire!
And to see him in person was already a great fortune!
Luna shook her head, her hands clutching her father’s jacket. "No... I’m okay. By the way, dad, I heard the sound of a man...is he?"
Nathan instantly understood Luna’s words and turned toward Adam with a scrutinizing gaze,
"What is your name?"
"Adam." Adam Price answered subconsciously.
"Adam? So you were the one who had saved my daughter." Nathan asked.
It took a few minutes for Adam to understand everything.
Maybe Adam Waters had rescued the woman and now Nathan had mistaken him for Adam Waters.
But just from the way he asked for the name, it was clear that Nathan didn’t know what Adam Waters looked like.
So...
With a smile, Adam nodded,
"Yes."
Nathan didn’t believe him right away and instead asked,
"Then what was the signal you had asked my daughter to give in case I come to find her?"
Adam Price froze for a moment and instantly thought of how the bodyguard had knocked on the box three times.
He cleared his throat and said,
"I told her to wait until someone knocked on the box three times. That way, she would know it was safe to come out."
Nathan’s eyes narrowed for a moment, studying Adam like he was trying to see right through him.
Adam felt sweat forming on his forehead. But then Nathan’s expression softened, and he nodded.
"That’s correct," Nathan said, relief flooding his voice. "You really did save my daughter."
Adam let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding.
"Yeah... I couldn’t leave her there. I made sure she stayed safe until you arrived."
Luna, however, frowned and said,
"But did you say you will leave since the guys are behind you? And why is voice sound so...thin suddenly?"
Nathan’s eyes sharpened.
Adam Price almost fainted from the pressure. His heart pounded so loud he thought everyone could hear it. But he quickly forced himself to calm down and came up with an excuse.
"Oh...you see, it was because of the drug. And as for leaving? I did lead all the guards away. However when I thought how you would be alone here, I returned and wanted to check if anyone had discovered you or not."
Nathan’s eyes stayed sharp, but he seemed to consider Adam’s words.
"The drug..." Nathan repeated slowly.
"That would explain why your voice sounds different. And you say you returned to check on Luna’s safety?"
Adam nodded quickly, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Yeah. I couldn’t just leave her alone. What if someone else found her before you did? I had to make sure she was safe until you came."
Nathan’s expression softened just a little. He looked down at Luna, who was still clinging to his arm.
"Is that true, Luna? Did he really help you?" Nathan asked gently.
Luna hesitated. Her blind eyes looked unfocused, but her expression was thoughtful.
"I-I think so. He told me to hide in the box and wait until I heard three knocks. And... and when those bad guys were chasing him, I heard them running away. So... I guess he did lead them away."
Adam’s heart stopped pounding so hard. Maybe he could still pull this off.
Nathan let out a long sigh and nodded. "Alright. It seems you did help my daughter, after all."
He reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a sleek silver business card.
"Adam, was it? I owe you a great debt for saving Luna. Take this card. If you ever need anything—money, a job, protection—just contact me. I will make sure you’re well taken care of."
Adam stared at the card in shock. This was even better than he expected. He reached out with a shaky hand and took the card, holding it like it was made of gold.
"Th-Thank you, sir. It was... it was the least I could do," Adam stammered, trying to sound humble.
Nathan nodded, then turned his attention back to Luna, his expression full of worry and kindness.
"Come on, Luna. Let’s get you out of here. I’m taking you home." Nathan said, his voice gentle.
"Okay, Dad," Luna whispered, her hands still gripping his jacket tightly.
Nathan looked at his bodyguards and gave a quick nod. They surrounded him and Luna, making sure no one could get near them.
As they were about to leave, Nathan glanced back at Adam.
"Come, I will drop you. I also want to hear everything that happened from your perspective."
Adam’s stomach twisted. He hadn’t expected that. But there was no way he could refuse now.
"O-Of course," Adam said, forcing a smile.
The bodyguards led them outside. Adam was surprised to see all the shiny black cars waiting for them.
’My chance had come! I can finally soar in the sky! I don’t need the stupid company! Just working in Nathan’s company can help me reach different heights! And if I marry her daughter...the entire corporation will become mine! Just you wait, Adam...just wait...I will teach you a good lesson!’
