Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Marriage Preparation

Mrs. Lancaster gave him a confident smile.

"How do you think I have survived this long in my natal family?"

.........

"Adam, you have proved yourself to be exceptionally talented, and my daughter loves you too. So I wanted to ask if you like my daughter and would be interested in getting married to her?" Nathan Griffin asked.

Adam Price almost lost his composure.

Get married to Luna?

His eyes involuntarily turned to the beautiful woman with pale skin and good facial features. With her background and her looks, anybody would die to be with her.

Unfortunately, her beautiful eyes were devoid of light and looked lifeless.

’Even though she is blind...as long as I marry her, I would be able to inherit the billion-dollar company! Not to mention, she is so beautiful. It would be fun to do it with her.

Ah! Adam Waters, I thank you for your good deeds! Since you have snatched the mechanics company from me...I take this as compensation.’

He cleared his throat and said in a touched voice,

"Thank you so much, Mr. Griffin. I would love to! I am honored to marry your daughter."

Nathan Griffin laughed,

"Good! Good! Then I will order my people to start the preparation of the wedding."

Adam Price nodded and turned toward Luna,

"Luna, I promise to protect you from now on!"

Luna smiled, though her smile was slightly restrained.

Nathan and Adam talked for a while before Adam stood up to leave.

When it was time for Adam to leave, Luna suddenly said,

"Before leaving, why don’t you hug me?"

Nathan paused before laughing,

"My daughter is indeed not shy of me!"

Adam Price agreed and hugged Luna. He even buried his neck in her nape, smelling the fragrance of peaches unique to her.

Luna felt a bit uncomfortable, but she didn’t make a scene.

Adam Price pulled away and took out a braclet from his pocket,

"This is a small gift from me. It is not much, but it is my family heirloom. I hope you can wear it all the time."

Luna gave a tight smile and took the bracelet.

After Adam Price left, Luna said in a lost tone,

"Father, I keep on feeling as if he wasn’t the one who had saved me."

Nathan chuckled,

"You are overthinking, Luna. To make sure he didn’t lie to us, I interrogated the other four escorts."

"So why isn’t he ready to tell me how I saved him?" Luna questioned sharply.

Nathan blinked, surprised by Luna’s sudden sharp tone.

He tried to keep his voice calm and gentle. "Luna, maybe he just doesn’t want to talk about it. Sometimes, people don’t like to relive scary moments."

But Luna’s expression didn’t change. Her lips were pressed together, and her hands were clenched on her lap.

"Still," she said, "if I really saved him, wouldn’t he be happy to talk about it? Why does he keep dodging the question every time I ask?"

Nathan rubbed his chin, thinking hard.

"Actually," he said slowly, "when I asked him about that part, he said he doesn’t remember clearly.

He told me he hit his head while escaping from the bad guys, and things got blurry."

Luna’s eyebrows lifted slightly. "Hit his head?"

Nathan nodded.

"That’s what he said. He even showed me a small bump behind his ear. One of our doctors looked at it—it was real. Maybe the stress and fear messed with his memory."

Luna looked down, frowning.

"But when I was trapped, I clearly remember talking to someone who sounded strong and calm. That Adam sounds... different."

Nathan frowned slightly.

"Do you want me to look into it more?"

Luna hesitated for a second. Then she nodded.

"Yes, please. I want to know the truth. I don’t want to marry someone just because he says he saved me."

Nathan looked serious now.

"Alright. I’ll talk to my people again. I’ll ask the bodyguards to go over everything one more time."

Luna gave a small smile, finally. "Thanks, Dad."

Nathan stood up and squeezed her shoulder gently.

"You’re not just beautiful, Luna. You’re smart, too. I’ll find out what’s really going on."

What they didn’t know was that Adam Price had heard everything.

The bracelet that he had given Luna had a tracking device inside it.

Adam had left the room, but he wasn’t far.

He was sitting in a car parked right outside the massive 10,000 square feet villa.

He knew Luna was suspicious, and he needed to make sure she wouldn’t figure out his secret.

The bracelet had been a part of his plan—something to keep tabs on Luna without her knowing.

He could track her movements, listen in on conversations, and know exactly what move was she going to take.

"This b*tch...I clearly tried my everything to make her believe me! But this b*tch! Ah! Looks like I need to contact those escorts again..." He muttered.

................

Aurora took a day off due to a fever.

She cursed her body for being weak. She also had to cancel her meeting with Adeline. And all of her plans had to be put on hold.

The next day, Aurora felt better and decided to go to school.

After reaching her classroom, she spotted that her desk was...gone.

In an instant, Aurora thought that Caroline and Mandy were behind it, but when Mia spotted Aurora, she waved her hand and said,

"Aurora here! Come here!"

That was when Aurora realized that her desk had been moved beside Spencer!

The guy had the nerve to smirk while looking at her.

Aurora’s anger flared up.

Did he do it?

Was her thinking true? Is he doing everything because of a motive? Is it because of some kind of bet?

Aurora gritted her teeth and walked up,

"Did you..."

However, before she could ask her question, Mia said,

"Aurora, do you know that right under your desk, there was a small hole? Yesterday, a centipede crawled out of it.

I was scared as hell! When Spencer learned about this news, he kept insisting that we shift your desk. He even went as far as getting the entire school pest-controlled.

Our location was sprayed the most, so we couldn’t sit there. So the teacher shifted us here. All the students are saying now that Spencer is overdoing it!"

The anger inside Aurora’s heart vanished completely.

Others might not know, but Spencer knew that she had a phobia of insects.

He could have used it against her and even shouted in front of the entire class to gain the title of hero...but he didn’t.

Just to protect her privacy and give her a safe seat...He went as far as getting the entire school pest-controlled.

Aurora stared at Spencer, her mouth slightly open. She didn’t know what to say. Her heart felt weird—like something soft and warm was wrapping around it.

She sat down on her seat with pursed lips.

Spencer looked at her and grinned.

"I didn’t do much. Just wanted to make sure you wouldn’t faint in class or something."

Aurora quickly looked away.

"You could’ve just told me," she muttered.

"I thought you’d yell at me again," he replied with a chuckle.

"So I figured it was better to just do it quietly."

Aurora didn’t answer.

She sat down at her new desk and tried to focus on her book, but her eyes kept sneaking glances at Spencer.

He wasn’t even looking at her anymore—just scrolling through his phone like it was no big deal.

Mia leaned over and whispered, "I think he likes you.You should become his girlfriend."

Aurora rolled her eyes and said,

"Last time my dog protected me from a stranger. Should I marry it too?"

Before Mia could say anything, Spencer chuckled,

"As far as I know you don’t have any dog."

Aurora gave him a bright smile and said,

"You only know me for the past 4 days."

Spencer wasn’t offended, instead he stretched his vein hand and held Aurora’s wrist.

His hand was warm, and it made Aurora’s heart skip a beat.

She looked down at his fingers holding her wrist, and for a second, she forgot how to breathe.

"Then give me more days," he said softly, his voice calm but serious. "I want to know everything about you."

Aurora’s ears turned red. She tried to pull her hand away, but he didn’t let go right away.

"Spencer—"

"I’m not doing this for fun, Aurora," he said, his smile gone now. "I like you."

Her mouth opened a little, but no words came out. Was he really saying that? In the middle of class?

She looked around quickly, but nobody else seemed to notice what was happening.

Finally, he let go of her wrist.

"Think about it," he said, leaning back in his chair like nothing happened.

Aurora stared at him for a long moment. Her heart was beating so fast it was hard to think straight.

Mia leaned in again and asked,

"What did he say?"

Aurora blinked before saying,

"Was Mia that dog?"
