Chapter 170: Chapter 170: No One Loves Villains

About fifteen minutes later, a detective came in. He was a tall man with a tired face, holding a file in his hand.

"Hello, Aurora. I’m Detective Miles," he said. "Can you tell me where you were last night between 6 and 9 PM?"

Aurora blinked. "I was at home. Studying. My mom was there too."

Detective Miles looked at his papers. "And do you know Mandy?"

Aurora tilted her head. "Yes... She’s in my class. We don’t really talk much."

He nodded slowly.

"Someone said you hired a man to bully Mandy. Is that true?"

Aurora looked shocked—on purpose. "No! I never did that! Why would I?"

The detective narrowed his eyes.

"We got a statement from someone. They said you were behind everything."

Aurora leaned back in the chair and frowned. "Did that person show you any proof?"

The detective didn’t answer. Instead, he asked, "Do you know Caroline’s phone was hacked?"

Aurora froze for half a second but quickly smiled.

"No, I didn’t know that. That’s horrible. Hacking is a serious crime."

Detective Miles watched her carefully, but Aurora didn’t flinch.

Just then, the door opened, and Spencer walked in with a sharp-looking woman in a black suit.

"That’s her lawyer," Spencer said.

The lawyer nodded.

"My client will not answer any more questions unless there is a proper charge or proof."

Aurora smiled sweetly. "Can I go home now?"

The detective sighed. "For now, yes. But don’t leave the city."

As Aurora stood up, she looked over her shoulder

Aurora walked out of the police station with her schoolbag still slung over her shoulder.

The sun was shining too brightly for her mood. She felt tired, but at least she wasn’t in handcuffs.

Spencer held the door open for her, and once they stepped outside, he turned to the woman in the black suit.

"Ms. Ray, what do you think? Can they really arrest her later?" he asked, his voice low and serious.

Ms. Ray took off her sunglasses and gave a small nod.

"They can try. But right now, they have no proof. Only someone’s statement. That won’t hold in court unless they find real evidence."

Spencer looked at Aurora. "Did you really do it?" he asked quietly, not judging her, just trying to understand.

Aurora looked at the sidewalk and kicked a small rock with her shoe. "I... I didn’t hire anyone."

Spencer understood. She didn’t hire anyone, but she did threaten someone to do it on her behalf.

"Don’t worry, no one will touch you," Spencer assured her.

Aurora paused and looked at him with a dazed expression,

"Spencer...why are you so good to me?"

"I want something from you," Spencer said after a pause. He had realized that for some reason, Aurora doesn’t trust love.

"What is it?"

Aurora stared at him, her eyes wide. "What is it?"

Spencer smiled a little, but it wasn’t a happy smile. It was more like he was sad about something.

"I want you to stop pretending you don’t need anyone," he said quietly. "I want you to let people help you."

Aurora blinked, surprised. That wasn’t the answer she was expecting.

"You’re always trying to fix things by yourself," Spencer continued. "But look where that got you. Almost in jail. Again."

Aurora looked down at her sneakers. "I just... don’t want to owe anyone anything."

Ms. Ray cleared her throat.

"You don’t owe anyone if they choose to care. Letting people in doesn’t make you weak."

Aurora didn’t answer. The wind blew a little harder, brushing her hair into her face.

Spencer stepped closer. "You don’t have to do this alone anymore. Not with me around."

Aurora looked up at him. Her lips trembled, but she quickly forced a smirk.

"Eh? But I don’t need your help. Anyway, thank you for your help. One day I will return the favor."

With that, she turned around and left.

Spencer wanted to call her out, but Ms. Ray stopped him, shook her head,

"Don’t go."

"But she...she looks so lonely," Spencer muttered. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Ms. Ray looked at him calmly. "I know. But sometimes, people like her need space first. She’ll come around."

Spencer stared in the direction Aurora had walked. She was already at the corner, her head down, hands in her pockets. The wind tugged at her jacket, and she looked so small all of a sudden.

"She acts tough," he mumbled, "but I think she’s really hurting."

Ms. Ray nodded. "She is. But trust takes time, Spencer. You did what you could today."

Then she paused and said,

"Take my advice, if you truly love her, give her time and patience. Women like her don’t trust easily. She doesn’t show it...But I can sense it, her disbelief...the walls she had built around her heart..."

Spencer stayed quiet for a second. Ms. Ray’s words sank deep into his heart.

He nodded slowly. "Yeah. I’ll wait. Even if it takes a long time."

Ms. Ray gave him a small smile. "Good. Now go home, kid. And don’t forget to eat something."

Spencer chuckled a little. "Yes, ma’am."

.....................

Aurora walked all the way home without taking the bus. Her legs were sore, and her backpack felt heavy, but her mind was even heavier.

Spencer’s words echoed in her mind.

Was everything as Simple as Spencer showed it?

Did he truly like her?

"No...Aurora, you are a villain! No one loves a villain. He will back off once he knows your future." She muttered. Her chest ached.

Just as she said that, the doorbell rang.

Aurora’s brows furrowed, and she looked through the peephole. Seeing Olivia anxiously waiting outside, she opened the door.

The moment Olivia saw Aurora, she hugged her and said,

"Are you okay? I heard you were arrested? "

Aurora was stunned before smiling,

"I am fine. What can happen to me? Instead, the ones who are in trouble are the ones who sued me."

She won’t let anyone go.

Caroline. Mandy. Or their high-ranking parents. They dare to mess with her, so they should be ready for retaliation.
