Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Replacing

A pause.

Then, Olivia’s lips curled into a delicate, almost wistful smile.

"And I hope," she said softly, "that if—someday—the innocent Rose mistakenly frames any of you, if she ruins your reputation, if she turns you into the villain... you’ll be able to forgive her, too."

The silence that followed was deafening.

Rose’s smirk faltered, a flicker of unease crossing her face. Natasha swallowed, shifting uncomfortably in her seat.

Even Avery, so confident in her authority, found herself momentarily at a loss for words.

Without giving Avery a chance to speak, Olivia sat down in her seat.

Though it seemed she was at a loss, the reality was, that she succeeded in planting the seed of doubt in everyone’s mind.

Today, the one who was humiliated was Olivia, but someday, they might get humiliated too.

Will they be forced to forgive Rose too?

Just thinking so made the student’s face ugly.

....................

Back at home.

Aurora had already come up with a great idea to spend money on her family.

She simply has to exchange all the knockoff items with the real items.

With how clueless Olivia was about the real edition of the VJ ring, they won’t notice.

Her first target was jewelry.

She planned to change all the jewelry to true gold. And once she replaced all of them, she would hint to her family, how her fairy godmother might change all the fake gold to real gold.

"I am so smart!" Aurora patted her back.

Once she had enough money, she would proceed with her plan of teaching Miller and his cronies a good lesson.

Just like every day, there was no one in the house, Aurora went through the knockoffs, her eldest sister had and set her sight on a ring.

She went to the nearest store and bought the exact ring for $593.

While purchasing, Aurora realized a problem she hadn’t thought about before.

What if her sisters or mother gave away the ring or lost it?

Disaster!

That would be a disaster!

To prevent that from happening, Aurora went out of her way and placed it conspicuously.

With seven dollars, Aurora bought chocolate for Theodore and when he came back, she gave it to him.

Theodore thanked her with an absentminded expression.

Aurora realized his expression was off and asked,

"What happened?"

"Nothing much." Theodore waved off. Then remembering something, he took an expensive chocolate from his backpack and gave it to Aurora.

Aurora was surprised, "Where did you get it? It looks so expensive."

"A famous actor was celebrating her birthday on the set, I was lucky enough to get one chocolate."

"Oh," Aurora said and peeled the wrapper, before taking a bite. Seeing his lost expression Aurora asked,

"Brother is something bothering you?" freewebnσvel.cøm

"Aurora will I ever be able to make it?" Theodore suddenly asked his gaze and at some point lowered his gaze to the ground.

"Why are you asking? I know you will." Aurora cheered.

After all, in her dream, her second brother ended up becoming a somewhat famous actor. Though he wasn’t wealthy, he had enough money to fake being a rich person.

Theodore smiled bitterly,

"You know sometimes, life seems so difficult. Walking in a straight path, we hope to reach the destination, but what if we don’t? What if we end up in a dead end? What if all the efforts we have put in till now become nothing but waste?"

"Then try again," Aurora said nonchalantly.

"Easy to say," Theodore muttered. He had been auditioning for various roles from 14 till the age of 16. However, even now he didn’t get any prominent role.

All he had was some minor roles.

"Brother, why don’t you see everything from a different angle? Just think like. What if you are destined to become successful? Maybe you won’t be a worldwide famous figure, but you might end up becoming a nationwide famous figure. Maybe the success you are chasing might not be fulfilled, but you will achieve a minor success."

Theodore blinked, "I know...I just feel down."

"If you are struggling, it means you are halfway there." Aurora patted Theodore’s back. "And not to mention, you are considered successful after till now you have snagged up to 5 roles."

Theodore’s face darkened, "Don’t..."

Aurora however ignored his warning and continued,

"Till now you have played the role of a boy wetting his bed even though he is already 14, remember the number of girls in your high school who turned their heads to look at you? They stared in your direction for a good 10 minutes. Jesus! They surely love you."

Theodore: "..."

Theodore groaned and buried his face in his hands. "Aurora, for the love of everything good in this world, stop."

Aurora, of course, did not stop.

"And let’s not forget your most glorious role yet," she continued, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"The emotionally tormented high school student... who tragically loses his beloved pet goldfish and spends five minutes dramatically crying on screen—"

"IT WAS A SERIOUS ROLE!" Theodore interrupted, his face now redder than a ripe tomato.

Aurora grinned. "Oh, I know! It was very touching. I was touched. Mom was touched. Even the neighbor’s cat looked like it was about to cry—"

Theodore groaned again and dramatically threw himself onto the couch. "I’m never going to live that down."

Aurora clapped a hand on his shoulder, eyes full of faux sympathy.

"Of course you will! The moment you land a big role, people will forget all about your past performances."

Theodore looked up with hopeful eyes. "Really?"

Aurora nodded solemnly.

Then, after a pause, she added, "Well, unless they Google you. Or watch reruns. Or see memes about it online."

Theodore shot up. "THERE ARE MEMES?!"

Aurora puffed up her chest, "I will make them."

Theodore’s soul visibly left his body for a moment.

Aurora patted his back, trying to hold back her laughter. "But hey! You’ve got experience! And everyone knows experience is key in the acting industry."

"Yeah, experience in playing losers," Theodore grumbled.
