Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 29: Compensation
Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Compensation
Truth didn’t matter when perception had already ruled against them.
"Someone has to get a teacher," one of the girls in the crowd insisted.
"No need," came a cold, authoritative voice from the entrance.
The sea of students parted as Mrs. Callahan, the vice principal, stepped into the bathroom. Her sharp eyes scanned the scene, quickly assessing the situation. A moment of silence stretched between them before she spoke.
"Would someone care to explain this?" she asked, her voice eerily calm.
Instantly, multiple voices erupted at once.
"They were beating Olivia up!"
"She was screaming for help, and when we got in, they were cornering her!"
"They hit her!"
Rose felt her stomach churn. They were being convicted before they even had a chance to defend themselves.
Mrs. Callahan turned to Olivia. "Olivia, is this true?"
Olivia hesitated. Then, with deliberate slowness, she lifted her head from Janet’s shoulder, revealing red-rimmed eyes and a quivering lower lip.
"I... I—" Her voice cracked, hoarse, vulnerable. She shook her head as though she was too traumatized to even speak.
Janet who saw the bruises, suddenly showed them to Mrs. Callahan,
"Mrs. Callahan please see this."
With that, she showed Olivia’s hands and neck, as well as the bruises that were on Olivia’s forehead and the corner of her mouth.
"These weren’t present till today morning." Janet continued.
All the other classmates nodded.
"Rose, Kira, and Natasha, in my office, now." Mrs. Callahan glared in their direction. Then she turned toward Olivia and softened her tone, "Olivia you too."
Rose instantly retorted,
"Mrs. Callahan, we weren’t the ones who had beaten Olivia, in fact, she came in the bathroom on her own and..."
"Beat herself? Is that what you want to say?" Mrs. Callahan asked.
Rose wanted to nod but realized how dumb it was.
Natasha’s face darkened when she realized they were trapped in their own game.
Wasn’t this the same way, she had framed Olivia yesterday?
In the end, the parents of both sides were called.
Rose, Kira, and Natasha insisted they didn’t beat Olivia, however, the bruises on Olivia’s arms and face were enough to prove they were wrong.
At first, their parents argued too, however, when Olivia showed them bruises on her back, they fell silent.
Even if Olivia can make bruises on her face, surely she can’t make bruises on her back, right?
Rose, Kira, and Natasha were asked to write an apology letter, while the principal tactfully didn’t mention the suspension.
It was all because Rose’s father was a powerful businessman.
Mary was so furious that she insisted on making an FIR.
Rose’s mom Mrs. Lancaster, proposed to deal with the matter internally and promised to give a compensation of $10,000.
Kira and Natasha’s mom offered to pay for the medicinal expense and $2000 as mental compensation.
Other teachers and the principal in the office too asked Mary to drop the matter.
Olivia having achieved her motive, too coaxed her mother, when the principal softly asked her to drop the matter.
After all, the matter could develop into a serious one.
Worse, if Mary truly went ahead and filed a complaint against Rose, Kira, and Natasha, then the matter would be classified as bullying, which could lead to the worst-case scenario: Expulsion.
Mrs. Lancaster, Kira, and Natasha’s mother paid the compensation under the watchful eyes of the vice principal, and principal.
Only after Olivia’s constant comforting, did she stop and leave the office with Olivia.
Olivia was thrilled with the thought of $14000 gained by her family.
Now, they can at least afford to pay part of the fees for her eldest brother and sister’s university education.
Though her parents had saved quite a bit of money for her brother and sister’s university fees, this $14000 can be considered a significant boost.
Not to mention. she has finally taken her revenge on those who bullied her.
Lets see if they dare to bully her in future!
Just as she was rejoicing in her mind, her mother suddenly sat down on the nearby bench and started to cry.
Olivia was stunned and hurriedly hugged her, "Mom what happened?"
However, Mary didn’t respond, she continued to cry.
Her beautiful blue eyes were brimmed with tears, slid down her cheeks continuously, causing Olivia’s heartache.
"Mom? Please tell me what has happened. Mother?"
"I am so useless, Olivia. I couldn’t even take a stand for you properly. All I could get was some papers(money). I let you suffer...If only I knew those three girls were bullying you, I would have taken a stand long ago. You have to suffer so much because of me." Mary sobbed as she said those words.
The joy in Olivia’s heart vanished completely.
In her happiness, she forgot, what her mother would feel, after seeing her all battered and bruised.
Even though the money was earned, she knew her mother wouldn’t be happy.
She could only silently comfort her mother,
"Mom, I am alright. Nothing wrong has happened. The injuries will fade away eventually."
Mary, however, continued to cry.
It took her some while to collect herself and she held Olivia’s hand with red eyes,
"Olivia, in the future, if anyone ever bullies you, you will come to me, understood? Don’t overlook it"
Olivia nodded her head firmly.
When she returned home, Aurora was munching on some snacks while watching TV.
Seeing her mother’s red eyes, she instantly stood up and asked worriedly,
"Mother, what happened?"
Mary shook her head, while Olivia slowly explained everything to Aurora.
Aurora sighed.
Honestly, she felt her second sister was amazing. Not only did she avenge herself, she even scammed $14000 from her enemies!
So powerful!
This was the power of pity and Olivia had achieved mastery in it.
"But sister...what if they try to get back at you?" Aurora asked in a worried tone.
"Don’t worry, they won’t. They would now focus on improving their reputation." Olivia nonchalantly answered.
........
At night when Adriana returned, she was surprised to see a box on her table, along with a note written in unfamiliar handwriting:
From Fairy Godmother.
