Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Analysing

Some couldn’t let go of their obsession, while others were tied by their obligations.

"What should we do now?" Theodore muttered in a lost voice.

They have footage, but they were clueless like a headless fly.

Even with the footage, they can only prove work harassment. At most Amrk will have to pay a fine of $100 or at worst, he would end up in jail for a few days.

But that was it.

Other than that, Mark would walk free.

The thought was unbearable.

Lucas exhaled sharply, his mind racing. His grip on the desk tightened, and he glanced at his siblings, reading the same storm of emotions in their eyes.

A fine? A few days in jail? That wasn’t justice. That wasn’t enough.

Not for the years of humiliation. Not for the countless sacrifices their father had made to keep them safe and their family intact.

Not for the sheer audacity of Mark’s obsession, his twisted need to tear their father down simply because he couldn’t accept that Mary had chosen someone else.

Lucas clenched his jaw, his voice quiet but firm.

"Let’s start with the rich man who framed our father. If we can prove that the rich man and Mark had colluded together to scam money from father, the case would be more strong."

"Well, you have a point."

The siblings started to come up with different ideas.

Aurora on the other hand felt a strong sense of helplessness.

She has $95000 in her bank account. If only she can give the money to her father. Then not only he can fight a legal battle against Mark, but also not worry about the university fees.

The siblings having watched enough turned to leave.

Just as they stepped out of the internet cafe, Adam found them. His expression was thunderous.

However, the siblings weren’t scared. They walked up to him.

"Do you all think you have grown up? How dare you run away? Hand me over the USB drive! Right now." Adam scolded them.

He stretched out his hand, but the siblings just stared at him.

Adriana was the first to react, she rushed toward Adam and hugged him.

"I am sorry...I am sorry...father. I am truly sorry. I never knew...you sacrificed so much for our happiness. I always blamed you...and overlooked your struggles, I am sorry."

Lucas hugged Adam from behind and said softly,

"Dad you don’t need to worry about the university’s fees. We will manage it."

Adriana nodded, "Yes, I will take a student loan."

Theodore and Olivia hugged Adam from the side.

"Dad, I will take revenge on your behalf. Just wait, one day, when I become a renowned actor, I will hire the best lawyer for you." Theodore said softly.

"Father...I have a much better plan. I can plan out a perfect revenge, and we won’t even need a lawyer." Olivia said softly.

Aurora struggled and adjusted a little before she hugged Adam’s waist,

"Dad, why did you pick me up from school every day? In the end, you had to endure scolding every single day, just because of me!"

Adam stiffened, his arms hovering awkwardly in the air as his children clung to him from all sides.

For years, he had endured everything in silence, believing it was his duty as a father to shield them from his struggles.

And yet, here they were, holding him as if they could shoulder the weight he had carried alone for so long.

A lump formed in his throat. He swallowed hard, forcing his voice to remain steady.

"Aurora, don’t say that," he said, placing a trembling hand on her head.

"I picked you up from school because I wanted to. Because you’re my daughter. You don’t owe me anything for that."

Aurora shook her head stubbornly, her grip tightening around his waist.

"But I do, Dad. We all do. We’ve been so blind."

Adriana wiped her eyes, her voice thick with emotion.

"I used to think you were weak for not standing up to Mark, for letting him push you around. But now I see it. You weren’t weak. You were enduring it for us."

Adam let out a shaky breath, his fingers curling into fists.

"It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I didn’t want you to know. I didn’t want you to feel burdened by—"

Lucas pulled back slightly, meeting his father’s gaze with unwavering determination.

"But we do know now, Dad. And we’re not going to just sit back and watch anymore."

Theodore nodded, his expression firm.

"You’ve fought alone for too long. It’s our turn now."

Adam sighed, shaking his head.

"This isn’t your fight. You’re just kids. You have your own futures to worry about."

Olivia smiled faintly.

"Dad, we may still be young, but we’re not powerless."

She glanced at her siblings before looking back at Adam. "We have something Mark doesn’t."

Adam frowned. "And what’s that?"

"Each other," Olivia said simply.

Adam looked at them—really looked at them. For so long, he had seen them as children, fragile and in need of protection.

But standing before him now were five young adults, their eyes burning with resolve.

His heart swelled with pride.

He never knew when his children grew up so much.

All of them returned home, no one dared to mention the footage to Mary.

They knew their mother and her history well enough. If they showed her the footage, she would definitely have a mental breakdown.

"For now, let’s act as if we are going to file a FIR. We can bluff for the time being. This rich man is sure some scammer, who just wanted to scam father all along.

If we say we are suing him, he will either calm down or become more agitated.

If he calms down, we will get more time to investigate and it will prove that either someone has genuinely stolen his car’s parts, or he is smug that no one can prove Dad’s innocence.

However, if he becomes even more agitated, then it would prove that he is a scammer and we can wait for him to make a mistake." Lucas calmly analyzed
