Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 49: Salary
Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Salary
"Yes. Send it to me," Emily said urgently.
After all, this time of gigs wasn’t much for Mia who was a part-time mistress.
"Oh, Emily are you really that desperate now?" Mia asked in a sympathetic tone.
Emily’s grip on the phone tightened before she forced a smile and said,
"I was just curious..."
"Oh, it’s alright. Anyway, I won’t be needing this type of gig, with my sponsor there is hardly anything I need to worry about.
You might know him, he is Gray Winston. The heir of Winston’s group.
You know just the other day I asked him to buy me a diamond necklace, and the very next day he gave me a beautiful $400,000 diamond necklace.
Poor him, he loves me too much!" Mia sighed as if it was burdensome to her.
Emily forced out a smile and said,
"Can you please send me the number?"
Mia paused before saying,
"Hey calm down! It’s just a small gig, it won’t be paying more than $1000 or $2000. I will send it though. As your best friend, this is the least I can do."
Mia bragged for 20 more minutes before hanging up. All this while Emily patiently listened to her chatting and once the call was over, she waited for the number.
Within seconds, a message popped up on Emily’s screen with the unknown number.
Without hesitation, she tapped it and hit the call button. Her palms were sweaty, her heart pounding.
The phone rang. And rang. No answer.
Emily took a deep breath, staring at the screen as the call ended. She hesitated for a moment, then tried again.
This time, the call wasn’t even connected. Just a dead line.
Her chest tightened, despair creeping in.
She had let her mind wander too far and allowed herself to dream of an escape from this miserable existence.
And for what? A disconnected number?
She scoffed, shaking her head.
"How stupid can you be, Emily? Thinking some random call could be your way out."
She tossed the phone aside and buried her face in her hands.
She should have known better. She was stuck here—with George’s insults, Margaret’s cruelty, and an endless cycle of hopelessness.
Then, her phone vibrated.
She froze. Her breath caught in her throat.
The screen lit up with an unknown number.
The same number.
Emily’s heart skipped a beat. A mix of hope and fear surged through her veins. With trembling fingers, she picked up the phone and answered.
"H-Hello?" she stammered.
A cute female voice replied on the other end.
"Hello?"
.....
At noon.
Aurora was with her family when she felt her phone vibrated. Her heart skipped a beat and she calmly waited for the phone’s vibrations to be turned off.
She quickly put her phone on airplane mode and acted calm. However, her speed of eating food quickened.
"Why are you eating so fast?" Mary asked, narrowing her eyes.
Aurora swallowed and forced a small smile. "I’m just hungry," she said casually.
Adam looked up from his phone. "You’re acting weird."
Aurora shrugged, reaching for her glass of water. "Not really."
She needed to be alone.
Aurora finished her meal quickly, wiping her mouth with a napkin. "I’m done. I’ll be in my room," she said, standing up.
No one stopped her.
Aurora entered the bathroom and called back.
A hesitant mature voice sounded from the other end,
"H-Hello?"
"Hello?" Aurora said smoothly. "You called earlier."
There was a short pause. Then—
"Yes... Are you the one offering the job?"
Aurora’s eyes flickered with interest. "Maybe. Who’s asking?"
A nervous laugh came from the other end. "I—My name is Emily. My friend told me about this... uh, role. She said someone was looking for a person to act like a rich businesswoman for three years?"
Aurora leaned against the bathroom sink, her lips curling into a small smile.
"That’s right," she said. "I need someone to play the role of a successful businesswoman. It’s a long-term job, and it pays well."
Emily hesitated. "But... why? Why would you need someone to pretend to be rich?"
Aurora chuckled lightly. "That’s not for you to worry about. You just need to follow my instructions. Do you think you can handle that?"
There was silence on the other end.
"Alright. How will you pay me?"
"I will pay you $3000 monthly." Aurora declared. " All you have to do is..."
Emily was stunned. $3000/ per month? Just for showing up once a month in front of the Waters family? What type of a fairytale job it was?
"Did you hear?" Aurora asked.
"Yes. I am ready." Emily agreed.
"Good. Each month $3000 will be credited into your account." Aurora said.
"Okay," Emily said, still in shock. "$3000 a month... this doesn’t feel real."
Aurora smirked. "It’s real. But you have to follow my instructions exactly. No mistakes."
Emily nodded, even though Aurora couldn’t see her. "I understand."
"Good," Aurora said. "Your first task is to meet me tomorrow. I’ll send you the location. Be there at 10 AM sharp."
Emily swallowed. "O-Okay. I’ll be there."
"Don’t be late," Aurora warned before hanging up.
Emily stared at her phone, her heart racing.
It felt too easy, too good. But she wasn’t in a position to ask questions. This was her chance to change her life.
....
On the other hand, Aurora didn’t need to put the details in the rebate system anymore, the money was credited.
Her bank balance had already reached $185,400.
With a little more push, she would soon reach $200,000.
At first, Aurora thought it was a huge amount, but now...at the thought that she be lying in bed for the next 3 years, Aurora wanted to clear certain things up with the white mist.
As the day neared its end, Aurora fell asleep and was surrounded by the familiar yet unfamiliar white mist.
"So Aurora...have you made your decision?"
"Will the rebate system continue to work if I fall into a coma for the next 3 years?" Aurora asked.
The white mist was silent before replying,
"No."
