Chapter 286: In The Cave

Jules pov

My heart was racing so fast that I could hear it In my ears as I exhaled a shaky breath. The entrance of the lair seemed like it was mocking me at this point because I’ve been standing out here for minutes now.

I sucked in a deep breath for strength, and then I tentatively walked into the cave. I reminded myself that he was yet to growl at me, and I reminded myself that he definitely know that I was coming in right now since he must have definitely smelt me. That’s a great sign, right?

I kept my eyes wide open, but it was completely pitch black inside the large cave which made it impossible for me to see anything.

I willed upon a ball of sunlight on my upturned palm which instantly brightened everywhere up. I kept staring sideways as I kept walking deeper into the cave, because I was scared of encountering something else in here.

My heart was lodged in my throat, I wasn’t even breathing as I kept going forward. I kept thinking I’d come across blaze at every next moment but that wasn’t the case, and that made me grow nervous and strung up while wondering if he was really in here.

I kept walking in, and at a point, a low sound slowly began to echo off the wall. I instantly stiffen, eyes going wide as I hastily glanced around from where the slithering sound came from. It ended up being a snake and I heaved out a relieved sigh while feeling ridiculous.

However, after taking two more steps forward, I suddenly felt a strong presence in the air, one which made me stumble. My heart hammered against my ribs and I struggled to gasp for breath as a low growl began to fill off the cave almost immediately. I was frozen in place, while the growl echoing from behind me grew even louder.

I managed to turn around and my heart almost flew past my throat at the sight I was greeted with.

It was Blaze.

He was the same way I last saw him six months ago, but it still managed to send a huge wave of shock through my insides. He took a step forward, eyes filled with so much anger while his teeth get bared. I let out a panicked scream, heart dropping into my stomach in fright as I jumped backwards. The ball of sunlight I had been using to see went off once my concentration went away from it, plunging me in pitch darkness.

I couldn’t see a freaking thing, but I was certain Blaze could right now and that made the nervous ball of wreck within me to heighten even more as my entire limbs trembled.

I struggled to will upon another burst of sunlight but my mind was too all over the place to fully focus on my magic, so nothing ended up happening.

Oh shit. I’m so fucked.

Steps got closer to me, menacing steps that sent frightened shudders down my spine. I felt sick to my stomach and it felt like I might faint from fright.

He clearly dosent remember me. Was he gonna kill me now?

As his foot steps echoed when he kept stepping forward, I began to take a step backwards as well till cool rocks was behind my back, leaving me with nowhere else to run to.

Once again, just like my first encounter with him, I was completely cornered and ensnared by him.

"Blaze?" I called out tentatively, eyes struggling to see a thing in the pitch darkness.

A low, deadly groan filled the air in response.

"Why are you here again?" His voice was disoriented and filled with so many echoes when he spoke.

"Why do you chose to play this game? Are you here in his appearance because you know I cannot kill you when you wear the face of my mate?" He continued, sounding extremely furious and I flinched and squeaked at the same time, right before his words settled into my head.

What was he talking about...?

"Blaze? I don’t..." I began but trailed off when he was suddenly in front of me, growling right into my face. I’d have pissed myself right now If I had a thing in my bladder.

"Didn’t I ask you to stop wearing my mate’s face? And didn’t I tell you I’d kill you if you do it one more time?" He continued angrily and fright consumed my entire body as I struggled to comprehend what he was saying.

Have lost souls been appearing to him with my appearance?

Lost souls were mystical beings who had the ability to do that.

"I’m not... Blaze... it’s truly me this time." I managed to get those words out after a heartbeat but all I got in response was a chilling snarl that made me squeal.

"Don’t fucking dare say that, you jinn! You’ll never be my mate, you’re nothing but a lost soul who’ll end up disappearing one day. However, I’ll end your existence today for disobeying my order." He growled loudly and my knees trembled from fear.

Fuck! He thought I was a spirit.

"Blaze! It’s me... your mate, labyrinth." I tried once again, desperate for him to believe me. My heart was breaking on the inside and I was drowning in fright. I was silently pleading for him to believe me. Amidst the disorientation of his voice, his normal one was still underneath it all and I couldn’t believe I’ve gone six months without listening to it.

However, in the next moment, a large, clawed hand suddenly gripped my throat tightly, cutting my lungs off and I instantly began to choke and gasp for breath as I reached for his large wrist with my two hands at once in reflex.

"How dare you say his name?" He whispered in that daunting voice of his, just as his grip tightened up and I saw my life flash behind my eyes in the moment.

Oh heavens. Save me. freewebnøvel.com
