Dark Magus Returns-Chapter 1220: His Arrival (Part 1)
Of all the things that could happen, Raze never expected this. When he looked up at the sky, it was without a doubt—a portal. Something he had seen appear a few times before.
It wasn't just him that recognised it, but those on the battlefield did as well—and it struck fear in all of their hearts. Even if they hadn't seen one, they had at least heard of what a portal was able to do. One appearing here right now meant there was a portal break occurring.
In the middle of the battlefield? Raze thought. Did it come because of all the magic being used? It's been so long since I've seen one—or even seen a reaction of sorts—which is why I started using magic on Pagna without any consequences.
I assumed it was due to whatever Alter was doing with Alterian that caused the portals… so why did one appear now? Was the level of magic just too much?
Regardless of the portal, the matter was that Enaxx was still alive—and they weren't strong enough to best him. A few beasts coming out of such a thing wouldn't be enough to beat him. It might be enough to affect the battlefield, but that was all.
"A portal—did you do this?" Enaxx asked. "Have you called for help?"
With Enaxx not having been in Pagna for long, he didn't know much of the rules that had been set or for what reason. So he assumed all of this was done by Raze or at least one of those by his side.
As they all stared at the portal together, the first thing they could see was a muscular arm stretching out. It was bare—pink skin could be seen—but there was quite a bit of dirt that covered it.
Followed by the bare arm, the rest of the body came through. The upper half appeared naked, while the bottom half still wore a pair of worn-out pants that were ripped and ruffled.
"It's a man, not a beast?" Lince commented.
Right after that, the rest of the man's body broke through and he fell right to the floor—landing in front of everyone. Soon after he entered, the portal closed immediately.
"Wait—it wasn't a portal break?" Lince said, confusion written all over his face. "Why has this man just come out of there, though? Where did he come from—and what's with his feet?"
The man was barefoot, his black hair dangling past his waist—but his figure was extremely muscular, next to no fat on him. From just looking from behind, both Raze and Amir had an idea of who this person was.
"Is it… who I think it is?" Raze asked.
"I spent a lot of time with this man, so I'm pretty confident in my analysis," Amir stated. "That right there is exactly who you think it is."
"Can you two not keep it a secret between yourselves and just tell me who that man is!" Lince said.
Right then, the man turned his head—he looked at one of the Enaxx clones—and then turned to face Raze and the rest of the group.
"Haha… hahah!" the man shouted. "I'm here! I'm finally here after all this time—and look at it, look at what I managed to drop right into the middle of. I never thought I'd see my enemies right here."
Lince, after seeing his face, was starting to piece together who this man might be. He was the information gatherer of the Demonic Faction, after all—but this man was not from their faction.
"The old leader of the Dark Faction—that's Murkel!" Lince claimed, his eyes widening as the weight of the revelation hit him like a thunderclap. "I thought… he was dead." "I thought… he was dead."
Raze and Amir both knew that Murkel was far from dead. He had managed to escape in his last moments—heading back to the world wherever he came from. Most likely that of the beast that dwelled within his body.
Whether he could come back or not was a different thing. Whether he wanted to was another.

In the back of Raze's mind, he did think that maybe one day he might have to deal with this particular man—but why did it have to be today of all days? Why did he have to appear when they were at their weakest—and in the most crucial fight of their lives?
"Our luck can't get any worse. We have enough trouble dealing with one person as it is," Lince said. "Or five."
Since the old leader was present and the new leader was there as well—there was no question that Murkel would attempt to get his clans and factions back.
Which was why Lince was upset and wondering what they could even do.
That was until Enaxx started to prepare a spell. Oddly, all of the other Enaxx clones—rather than surrounding Raze—had moved from their positions and quickly gathered up.
"You again!" Enaxx shouted at the top of his lungs.
An array of spells shot out from the five Enaxx's—just like those that were used on Raze and his group. Each one of them crashing into where Murkel stood.
Did he just attack Murkel? But why? Why would Enaxx attack Murkel? It was as if he knew who he was… but how is that even possible? Raze thought.
When the dust started to settle, what they could see was a giant red crystallisation that had appeared from Murkel's arm. It had expanded into a towering, jagged barrier of blood-red crystal, intercepting the full brunt of the devastating spells. Not a single crack, burn, or mark could be seen—it was as if the barrage had never even touched it.
The red crystal started to shrink until it disappeared into what looked like Murkel's own arm.
"I was thinking, out of the two of you, which one I should take out first. I think you just made up my mind," Murkel claimed.
