Desire Me If You Can-Chapter 88
The cool breeze that usually blew gently had suddenly turned chill. Grayson stopped and stared intently at Dein’s back as he stood still. Taking slow steps toward him, the phone call continued as he approached. After just a few steps, he was standing behind Dein, and the voice from the phone became audible in his ears.
"I was mistaken last time and ended up coming to your house... Do you remember?"
The voice had turned desperate, and Dein brushed his hair back, trying to recall.
"I remember."
A sigh of relief could be heard from the other end. However, Dein was secretly thinking about something else. He had always lived by the principle of not involving himself in other people’s affairs, but recently, he had been too caught up in them—whether it was the woman with whom he had only shared a single night or any other situation.
This would be the last time. I won’t do anything like this again.
He decided not to drag things out, adding quickly.
"Have you made up your mind? When are you going to do it? It would be nice if it could be on one of my days off."
At his blunt question, she hurriedly replied.
"Yes... yes! Of course, I'll do it, thank you..."
With a weak voice, Dein didn't react much and gave her the date of his day off before hanging up. He casually put his phone into his pocket and was about to take another step when he turned his head without thinking. He was startled when he saw Grayson standing right behind him.
"Ah shit, what the hell!"
Dein spat out a curse and made an irritated face. Grayson gave him a brief glance. Dein, frowning, noticed Grayson’s gaze shift toward the pocket where Dein had just put his phone.
"Was it her?"
With a blunt question, Dein didn't bother pretending not to know.
"Yeah, the same woman you saw."
When he responded indifferently, Grayson’s expression darkened. Realizing something wasn’t right, Grayson spoke in a low voice.
"Are you really going to the hospital with her?"
His calm tone sounded strangely chilling. Dein, feeling uneasy, responded in his usual manner.
"Yeah, I promised."
After that simple answer, Grayson fell silent again. What is this silence? Suddenly, a foreboding feeling arose, and Grayson narrowed his eyes, squinting at him.
"...You don't really think it's your child, do you?"
"Ha."
What was he even thinking? Dein couldn’t believe it, and he wasn’t even angry. He just stared at Grayson with a twisted smile on his lips.
"Do you even know what my traits are? Do I look like an idiot to you?"
Grayson took a step back, clearly caught off guard.
"...That's not it."
"Then what? What are you trying to say?"
Dein snapped, his irritation rising. Grayson paused for a moment as if thinking, then suddenly broke into a small smile. It was an action that had nothing to do with the situation, and Dein paused in surprise. After seeing Dein's expression, Grayson quickly wiped the smile from his face, realizing it wasn’t the right time to laugh.
"...No, I mean..."
Grayson seemed like he wanted to say something, but that was as far as he got. Seeing him stop, rubbing his forehead with one hand, Dein became even more confused.
Of course, this might just be my own misunderstanding. Dein thought. Who could really tell what’s true or false with this guy? Maybe even he doesn't know. He’s just someone who mechanically shows whatever expression fits the situation.
Dein didn’t wait any longer and turned to leave. Grayson just watched his retreating back. But then—
"Don’t waste your time on something pointless."
A low voice came from behind, causing Dein to stop in his tracks. Grayson, now speaking louder with a bit of force in his voice, added:
"That woman is just using you."
What the hell is he talking about? Dein shook his head in disbelief and continued walking, but Grayson warned again from behind.
"You’ll regret it. You’ll regret doing this."
Dein tilted his head back and looked up at the sky with a sigh. He then turned around, locking eyes with Grayson. With a cold stare, he spoke. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"Who asked for your opinion?"
Then, without hesitation, he turned away and walked off. Grayson called after him one last time.
"I’ve warned you. Whatever happens next, it’s all on you."
Dein, about to open the back door to the fire station, glanced back at Grayson. Grayson was staring at him with a cold look. Dein grimaced and, in a quiet voice, answered.
"Oh, how scary."
With those words, Dein shut the door with a loud thud right in front of Grayson.
Crazy bastard.
Dein sat in the waiting room chair, frowning. With his legs spread apart, one of his legs was rapidly shaking, his face full of irritation. Who does he think he is, telling me what to do? Doesn’t even know his place.
"You’ll regret it. You’ll regret doing this."
He was already regretting it enough. But when Grayson Miller said that, his stomach twisted. Damn it, he muttered a curse under his breath, then immediately scanned the room, making sure no one was paying attention. Fortunately, the waiting room was quiet, and the other patients and visitors were sitting far away. Thank god for that. As he felt a small sense of relief, a woman who had brought him water approached.
"Hey, is coffee okay?"
"Yeah, thanks."
She handed him the drink, and as she sat down beside him and drank water, she spoke while taking a sip of hot black coffee.
"Thank you for coming with me, Dein. I had no one else to ask..."
Dein silently drank his coffee, glancing at her disheveled side profile. After all, he’d never see ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) her again. There was no need to listen to her deep thoughts. That was what Dein thought, but Sabrina had different thoughts.
"Maybe it’s better not to have a child if the father isn't around?"
"...Ha."
Dein let out a sigh, still looking elsewhere, as he responded.
"That’s your choice. If you can't handle it, it's better to get rid of it."
Sabrina visibly flinched. Maybe she was still hesitating. After a moment of thought, she muttered to herself.
"Having a child isn’t always the best thing."
"Huh?"
"Why are you making the decision for me, you bastard?"
Dein lifted his head at the sudden curse. A tall woman was staring down at them while chewing gum. With platinum blonde hair, she was stunning enough that people around her gasped as she passed, but Dein didn’t hesitate because of her looks.
It was the purple eyes.
The sweet scent surrounding her left no doubt. What the hell? Just as Dein stood up, Sabrina quickly stood up as well.
"Larien!"
A pale-faced Sabrina was staring up at the woman, who was a good head taller than her, glaring down with terrifying eyes.

Ezra hesitated and turned around at the continuous whistling sound. It was Grayson whistling while checking his equipment.
“Anything good, Miller?”
When he asked curiously, he stopped whistling and said, “No.” And he answered. The grinning face was a stereotypical one, but Ezra didn't know.
"It's obvious that there's something good going on, what is it?"
He glared at him mockingly and went back to his work with a smile. Grayson looked up at the clock on the wall with a still smiling face.
Grayson's eyes narrowed as he checked the time.
It must have started by now.
The minute hand on the wall moved to the side with a clicking sound just in time.
"You fucking punk, who the hell are you to tell me to get rid of the baby?"
Larien shouted with a harsh curse. Are you crazy? Dane looked down at her in disbelief. The woman, who looked to be at least 180 centimeters tall, glared at Dane as if she was going to eat him instead of being intimidated.
