Chapter 348: Chapter 348 What was he hiding?

Nina’s face turned pink in an instant. "Wh-What?! He’s not even supposed to be here right now!" she said, flustered.

Lilith chuckled softly. "Mm. But he is here. Watching everything... like a quiet bodyguard."

Nina tried to look away casually, but the red on her cheeks gave everything away.

Lilith turned back to her script with the same cold elegance. "Focus on your lines. You’re sweating more over gossip than your actual scene."

"I’m not—! Ugh!" Nina groaned and quickly walked away.

Lilith smiled to herself.

At night, Lilith sat near the window, lights dim, city shining outside.

She picked up her phone and called her human doll.

The phone rang once... twice... and just as it was about to cut off, someone picked up.

"Hello? Miss Lilith??" came a rushed voice from the other side.

It wasn’t human doll.

It was his assistant—Quinn.

Lilith’s expression darkened instantly.

"Where is he?" she asked, frowning.

"I—I’m sorry, Miss Lilith," Quinn stuttered. "Sir is in the middle of an international meeting. He told me to keep his phone nearby. I didn’t see your call in time. Please forgive—"

"You’re lying," Lilith said calmly.

Her voice wasn’t loud.

But it was cold enough to make Quinn’s face turn pale.

On the other side, Assistant Quinn started sweating, quickly pulling up something on his screen. "I... I swear, Miss Lilith! If you don’t believe me, hold on—I’ll send you proof right now!"

He placed the call on hold, and a moment later, Lilith’s phone buzzed.

She opened the message.

It was a photo...clearly taken in secret, slightly blurry, but she could see Alexander sitting at a long conference table with several men in suits. Papers, screens, and files were everywhere. It looked like a high-pressure meeting.

"Alright," Lilith said, still unconvinced. "When is he going to be free?"

"Well... Sir’s schedule is completely packed this week," Quinn replied nervously. "The new project is taking a huge toll on us all. But I’ll try to find a moment—if there’s even five minutes, I’ll let you know."

Lilith didn’t say much.

"Okay," she replied flatly, and ended the call.

She placed the phone beside her, stared at the city lights in silence.

Something still didn’t feel right.

On the other side of the call, Assistant Quinn slowly pulled the phone away from his ear and stared at the screen for a second, frozen.

Then, he let out a deep sigh.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve, eyes still wide.

"She’s scary..." he whispered to himself.

He sighed again.

And again.

He sat back in his chair, looking around the quiet meeting room, hoping no one had seen how pale he turned during that call.

Even though the air conditioner was on, his neck felt hot like he’d just come out of an oven...

Shooting had become busier than ever.

Lilith’s scenes were mostly at night now, under cold lights, with wind machines and long emotional dialogues that drained her bit by bit.

By day, she barely got any rest.

She would come back to her hotel just before sunrise, fall into bed, and sleep like a rock—only to wake up late afternoon, get dressed again, and rush to ESE Production House to check on engine progress.

Thanks to her devil soul and inner healing powers, she could keep up.

Her skin didn’t dull. Her body didn’t break but her mind started to burn.

She hadn’t heard anything from her human doll in weeks.

It was starting to bug her now.

She didn’t want to overthink, she shouldn’t even be thinking about him. He was abroad. Busy. Meetings, business, expansion... all the usual excuses.

But something didn’t feel right.

Because the last message she had sent about the necklace and the roses..he read it. She had seen the "read" mark.

And he was the jealous type.

If he even saw a single flower from another man, he wouldn’t be able to sit still.

So why... silence?

Why didn’t he reply?

Lilith stared at her screen for a moment, then slowly typed again.

This time, something different.

A love message.

Her expression stayed blank. Cold. Not even a smile. But her fingers moved calmly.

Lilith:

Baby! Why are you not replying to me? Are you ignoring me...?

She sent it without blinking.

And somewhere far away...

Assistant Quinn choked on his coffee.

He stared at the screen, jaw dropped. "B-Baby?!"

His hands trembled slightly. He looked around the quiet room, hoping no one saw the message pop up on the boss’s phone.

Quinn had no choice. He picked up the phone. Opened her chat. And replied.

Quinn (as Sebastian):

Sorry baby! I’m busy with meetings. I hope you eat well. I will call you soon...*heart emoji*

He stared at what he typed.

His soul left his body for a second.

"I’m going to die," he whispered.

He sent it anyway.

And on the other side—

Lilith stared at the reply.

Coldly.

But deep inside, something clicked.

That wasn’t him.

He never sent messages like that. Never used emojis. Never said "I hope you eat well."

She didn’t panic. She didn’t say anything.

She simply typed again.

Lilith:

Baby, do you remember the last time we went on a date at the beach?

It was a trick question because they never did.

A few seconds later, the reply came.

Quinn (as Sebastian):

Yes.

Lilith’s eyes narrowed.

She placed the phone down.

Silently.

And the air around her turned colder.

What was he hiding?

That question echoed in Lilith’s mind again and again, but no answer came.

She knew something was wrong.

She was not a normal woman to be fooled with messages and fake photos.

She had ruled realms. Seen through gods. Played with fate.

And now? She was being lied to by the man she once trusted most.

Her human doll.

Same day, the studio was unusually noisy.

Everyone knew a new actress was joining for the role of the male lead’s mother. The news had been circulating for days, but no one confirmed who it was. The production team had kept it tight-lipped—no leaks, no posters, no teaser.

Only one thing was sure—

She was a big name.

Lilith was sipping her tea near the makeup trailer when she heard the sudden sound.

Screaming.

From everywhere.

Hair stylists. Assistants. Even a few senior staff gasped loudly.
