Chapter 852: Who’s got so much time?

There were many groups that arrived after Wu Long’s group had passed through the outer passages of the Ancient Ruin, but the furthest they could get to is the chamber where Wu Long did a service for the betterment of society out of the generosity and goodness of his heart.

Past that chamber the formations were still intact and no one could pass through, no matter what methods they tried, including the obvious brute force breakthrough.

By now most have given up, but there were a few persistent ones who returned on the 6th day and waited long into the night to see if they could still get anything by ambushing someone coming out.

Wu Long didn’t feel like dealing with them now, as he would be fighting with them over the final treasure anyway, so they waited for the ‘noon’ of the 7th day when it would be time to move, consolidating their gains in the meantime.

After all, let alone Wu Long, Cai Yin, Gong Liwei and Hong Yue who had all made their own progress in this chamber, even Helian Muyang had to meditate in order to prepare to pass his Heavenly Tribulation, since as far as he knew, he would still be facing a dire trial, which he was unlikely to pass no matter how he looked at it.

The hall they were in started visibly deteriorating as they waited for the time to go out though, as cracks began appearing in the stone, and small pieces began falling off of the ceiling. The monument on the Throne of the Taker already lost all the characters and patterns engraved on it, and from the deep cracks appearing in it, looked like it was going to fall over.

“Is it because you took away the knowledge?”, Gong Liwei asked, looking around, as they were already preparing to go out.

“Yes,”, Wu Long nodded, “This place stood an unthinkable amount of time, intact only because of the ancient symbols, which are actually called Sun Symbols. The reason they were circulating through the bottom of the pools into the back of those two side walls and then coming back through the statues is because they were constantly powering all of the formations. Now all the formations which kept this place going are failing one by one”

“T-They could perpetually power it all?”, Gong Liwei asked in shock.

He nodded with a smile, understanding the astonishment, starting off his explanation with a small precursory note, “As far as I can understand, a piece of the two suns separated during a solar flare, and fell onto the Emerald Falls Continent, possibly even in Prehistoric Era”

He then continued, “That ‘molten shard’ – if you will – of the sun, formed a mountain, which was carved clean off, the top half refined to make these Sun Symbols, while its base still embedded in the ground is now what is called the One Sun Stone which opens this Sun Shadow Secret Realm. So the symbols and the platform still hold a connection to the sun that birthed them, and thus able to harness its energy”

“This Ancient Civilization possessed that kind of power?”, Cai Yin widened her eyes.

“Haha, no”, Wu Long shook his head, “They inherited both the Sun Shadow Secret Realm and these Sun Symbols from an even more Ancient Civilization”

He explained, seeing their confusion, “I told you before, even if we lump everything between our Current Era and the Prehistoric Era together into one single Ancient Era, it’s just because we do not know the timeline during that extensive period, in which uncountable number of civilizations like ours and this one existed, without explicit continuity between them, so for them, the civilizations that came before them also were lost civilizations of their understanding of an Ancient Era”

Wu Long then concluded the explanation with, “The mountain of the sun shard was carved, and the Sun Symbols were refined from the top half long before this Ancient Civilization that built this place existed by another one. Even this place was built atop what they back then already saw as an Ancient Ruin. Though they did of course find a way to access the power of the Sun Symbols and built this ceremonial chamber on their own”

A somber silence hung in the air after they heard his explanation, finally uncovering at least partially the secret origin of the One Sun Stone and Sun Shadow Secret Realm.

Wu Long himself was quite pleasantly surprised that a Secret Realm he chose out of many possibilities held such a big secret.

Of course, it was very possible, even likely, that other Secret Realms nearby also held powerful secrets, perhaps even as significant as this one.

But as Wu Long once explained to the beauties of the Frozen Garden Palace while being in the Blue Moon Secret Realm, the universe was vast, and impossible to completely grasp in one hand, it was important to let go and acknowledge what one had, instead of lamenting what they did not have.

Since the door was previously opened and closed with a formation which was now gone, Wu Long simply forcefully pushed the massive stone slabs apart to the sides, though they began crumbling much faster because of that. And the group swiftly left the place which now began crumbling faster and faster, burying the secrets it once held.

The plateau in the center of the continent looked almost as it did in the outer world.

However, there was a large dome of a natural barrier around the whole plateau, barring everyone entry.

The groups of people who entered the Secret Realm were already gathering from all directions around the barrier, remaining at large distances between each other, only allowing their allies within close range.

This caused the whole crowd to spread out all around, so that they only saw a small portion of other people.

Even those who were camping around the ancient ruin that Wu Long’s group was exploring had to abandon it and move toward the plateau at some point.

None of them started their Heavenly Tribulations, fearing that the others will target them in that vulnerable moment. Or rather, it was guaranteed everyone in the vicinity will try to interfere.

And at the same time, doing it too soon while being too far away from the plateau risked the chance of not having enough time in the Secret Realm to be able to compete for the main treasure, since no one knew the exact moment the barrier will start opening.

The timing had to be just right.

They all were waiting for the barrier to show the first signs of dissipating before starting their Heavenly Tribulations, as it would take considerable time, at least 2-3 hours, for the barrier to either completely disappear or become weak enough that it could be broken through.

At that time, everyone would be too busy with their own Heavenly Tribulation to attack others as well, so it was a mutually assured safe timing.

Wu Long’s group arrived in a leisurely manner, among the last ones to come to the area around the barrier.

His eyes flashed with profound patterns, and then narrowed at the sight within.

There was no city atop the lake on the plateau, but a large tree, its roots sprawling far and wide. The lake turned into thousands of small rivers, going between the roots. This made the waterfall, which the city in the outer world was so proud of, uneven, made of thousands of various smaller waterfalls, many of which were from tiny streams.

The tree itself was about the size of a small mountain.

And within the lush green leaves…

‘A Mortal Grade Wuxing Dao Fruit!!!’, Wu Long’s pupils shrank at the sight of a certain fruit which seemingly had profound patterns in the fruit skin.

His mind stirred, as it was an incredible treasure, and rare enough to put its value in the top 10 treasures of the Boundless Mortal World, and top 1000 of the Boundless Profound World.

It was a fruit which gave the one who consumed it, as long as they were still in Nine Mortal Realms, an elemental attribute they were not born with. Though it was restricted to the Five Elements of Water, Earth, Wood, Fire and Metal.

And Wu Long had with him, the perfect person to consume it.

After all, he already had the ability to obtain elemental attributes, and both Cai Yin and Hong Yue would not benefit from having one, it would be arguably a hindrance for both.

Gong Liwei, on the other hand, would gain massively from obtaining the Wood element, one that had a special connection to the Medicine Dao.

He then searched further, finding 3 less powerful, but still valuable Mortal Grade Thousand-Year Dao Fruits, five Mortal Grade Hundred-Year Dao Fruits, and nine Mortal Grade Ten-Year Dao Fruits, as well as 99 Mortal Grade One-Year Dao Fruits.

“Mm, good treasure”, Wu Long nodded, as his group landed onto a spot they picked like any other.

All of these treasures had to be consumed in Nine Mortal Realms, so none of those waiting for the barrier to start dissipating will be actually undergoing their Heavenly Tribulations at that time though, as that would also be the moment they saw what was inside.

At a certain point, as Wu Long was looking intently into the barrier, he proceeded to float up and lead his group including the three beauties and the couple, closer to the barrier, as thousands and thousands of talismans began floating around them.

“I’m going to have to spend most of my stock of high-level talismans here, but it’s worth it… I have to hurry up about finding Symbol Masters for Zhiqiu though, or she’ll seriously start sulking soon”, Wu Long mumbled under his nose, since most of what talismans he was now using were produced by him and Lian Zhiqiu, with only more general-purpose talismans bought or ‘found’ by Kwon Qianhong.

When he thought of her expression at the moment he would tell her that he spent nearly all of the talismans she made for him already, a wry smile appeared on his lips.

“What the-… what are they doing?”

“Leave them be, there’s lots of idiots who tried”

“Yeah, there’s always someone who think ‘THEY will be the ones to get through’ while all others are waiting because they’re ‘not special’ or something”

“Haha, seriously makes me wonder whether I should laugh at the sheer arrogance and entitlement or cry lamenting the stupidity of human nature”

The people watching from distance began murmuring as Wu Long’s group were the only ones who were approaching so close to the barrier at this point, though there were seemingly numerous attempts before them.

Wu Long’s talismans spread far and wide in all directions, becoming hidden from view as soon as they left his vicinity.

But if Hua Ziyan, Xue Bing, or any of the Core Disciple ladies of the Frozen Garden Palace were now here, they would instantly recognize this giant formation, that utilized the Feng Shui, and natural Spiritual Qi currents and ley lines.

Of course, it was a different World, and completely different parameters, so Wu Long optimized the formation a lot, not to mention that aside from one feature, it had completely different purposes this time.

‘Mm, preliminary preparations done… now for the actual stuff’, Wu Long, meanwhile, was lightheartedly humming a tune as he worked, creating another glowing formation circle between his group and the barrier.

Hundreds of talismans were forming a network of intricate patterns, as this smaller formation invisibly connected to the large one above, and eventually, a profound formless wave spread through the barrier.

This, finally, put everyone around on alert, but it was too late.

Wu Long’s group simply went forward, through the glowing formation circle into the barrier, disappearing within.

Some, who were the first to react, and thus approached just as Wu Long, the last one to pass through, disappeared. Though a few of them could swear they heard him saying “As if I’d waste time away from my lovely ladies on waiting around. Who’s got so much time to waste it like this?”
