Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 103: Annoyance…
Chapter 103: Annoyance...
Lucien spoke slowly towards him, as not to disturb Gareth,
"That person is an Elemental Aurauser and one of the skilled forgers."
After a slight pause he continued, "While most people think that to make weapon or nexus tool, it needs to go through 2 procedures, one is forging the weapon itself without any enchantments, but the different being it would be created by materials of Archon grade, so in that sense it would not be normal weapon even without magical enchantment or rune engravings."
"But you might not know this, which is that some forgers are so good that their will power or intent as a warrior is so strong that the forging itself ends up giving them a certain special quality or ability. But it is a capability mostly unique to warrior branch specialists, whose aspects are both of the warrior branch."
"Of course it is not impossible to replicate that effect as generalist Seeker, but its too damn hard, not to mention 90% of the times, the tools which gain special ability or feature on the forging process tend to reject any other external enhancement of magic or rune engraving for that matter."
"Because unlike magic enhancements, which are mostly static, they do not grow alongside the power of the user, I mean yes, some made through very advanced runic sorcery do grow alongside the user, but most magically enhanced tools don’t. On the other hand, tools that grow an ability while forging grow alongside their user more naturally. Those tools are called True Forged tools."
"Similar to that, if the magical enchanter of a tool forges the tool with his/her own hands and makes it on their own from start to finish, that is called True Enchanted Tools. As for those tools made normally, forging part done by one party and engraving or enchantment done by another is simply classified as general tools."
Axel listened attentively to all the explanations, he actually did not find this information in the books, which surprised him a bit. Perhaps these classifications weren’t official, but more so terms used by crafters of the tools.
Right in that moment, Gareth seems to have been done with his hammering; he was not hitting the sword anymore, he was cooling it down for now. After that, he somehow used some spell, which evaporated all the sweat from his bare body and maybe cleaned himself as well.
Then his gaunt figure turned towards them, and the two of them showed a slight bow as a gesture of respect. Lucien stepped forward and said, "We apologize for disturbing you, Sir Gareth."
Neither Lucien nor Axel was surprised that his figure turned towards them right after he was done hammering, a 3rd phase Seeker’s senses were extremely wide and powerful after all.
Gareth waved his hand dismissively, surprisingly, his gaze first turned towards Axel as the man smiled and said, "So, what do I owe the pleasure of Mr. Nomrad, or should I say Salazar?"
Lucien showed a confused expression, where did he hear the name, but then thinking of something, he immediately asked Gareth, "Sir, Gareth, are you talking about the contestant from the competition?"
Gareth nodded, "Of course, who else would be Salazar?"
Lucien turned his head and looked at Axel with visible shock. But Axel’s facial expression remained neutral. Axel answered without bothering with Lucien,
"Actually, sir Gareth, I came here to see the general forging procedure."
"Lucien is supposed to show me it, since he says he is quite good at that."
Gareth glanced towards Lucien, who seemed to be still in shock. From the way Gareth glanced towards Lucien, it seems they already knew each other beforehand. Lucien likely comes here pretty often to do forging of his own, surmised Axel.
Meanwhile, the reason why Lucien was beyond shocked was because..
Even while being a holder of the dragon bloodline, it would have been hard for him at that time to show such exceptional strength against a species that is infamous for their brute strength and love for battle. It was just that, at that time, he was in front of all the other descendants of the high echelons of the kingdom, so he could not in any way show how rattled he was on the inside by the strength of that contestant named Salazar.
He was sure the examiners and many other people picked up on that, that there is no way a human would have such strength to counter a goddamn orc, even for a small moment. That’s just physically not possible. The doubt in his mind became so great that he asked it out aloud despite knowing that it was something he should not pry into.
"A normal human cannot have such strength as you showed at that time, if you really are the contestant named Salazar?"
Axel looked at him neutrally and said, "Well, let’s just say my family training is a bit special."
Gareth raised one eyebrow at that statement, but did not comment further. But it seems Lucien wasn’t satisfied with that answer, "What kind of technique? A mere technique can’t help a human overcome their biological limit."
The underlying meaning behind his words was pretty clear: the guy was pushing his buttons to see if he was a bloodline holder just like him. But this only generated an intense wave of annoyance in Axel.
He looked at Lucien coldly and said, "Lucien, do not forget who my grandfather is; the scope of his abilities is beyond your imagination, so do not make abrupt assumptions about what can and cannot be. You underestimate humans as a species too much."
Gareth showed a small smile on that statement of his, and there was an understanding look in his eyes. Lucien frowned and started thinking deeply about the topic. Axel simply ignored him after that. Gareth looked towards Lucien, who seemed to be lost in his own thoughts. Gareth did not understand why the prince was reacting like that, well, as far as he knew, the 4th prince was known for his exceptional physical prowess even before becoming a Seeker, did he perhaps see the Nomrad heir as a threat now? Someone who would steal his spotlight?
Well, that kind of thinking was quite normal among the descendants of the high society. If the boy really thought like that about Axel Nomrad, he wouldn’t show him proper forging on purpose and might even mislead him. Sigh, he should have been more careful, revealing that he was Salazar was perhaps not the wisest thing to do.
So, he decided to waste some time and decided to take on the task himself to make up for it. He said,
"Alright, since you’re here anyway, I will be the one to show forging basics to Mr. Nomrad."
Lucien finally broke out of his stupor as he hurriedly tried to decline the offer on behalf of Axel, but Axel himself was pissed off from this guys behavior, it wouldn’t make much difference in seeing forging from Gareth or that guy. Lucien wasn’t that good yet. So, in a way, it was better to see it from Gareth.
Axel said to Lucien, "It’s fine, Lucien, you should go back, since Sir Gareth is more experienced, it would be better to see his forging instead."
Lucien wanted to say something and rebuke that statement, but Gareth and Axel both ignored him and went inside the furnace room and closed the door. Lucien had a sour expression on his face, he realized too late how insensitive it was for him to say those things.
But he had reasons for saying those things, he just wanted to probe him, in fact, a part of him was excited at the prospect that Axel could be someone secretly with a bloodline, a half blood similar to himself. He really should have thought this through damn it. Specially, speaking those things in front of another person like Gareth.
He thought about what Axel said about his grandfather. he also knew of Damien Nomrad’s existence; the man was a walking treasure trove in the literal sense, at least that’s how people described him.
And the man had apparently created a new branch of runic sorcery, biological rune engravings. Now that he thought about that, could it be that Axel had permanent runes engraved in his very body, which permanently increased his strength supernaturally?
Well, for one, like Axel stated. It was entirely possible in that sense. Is that the reason why Axel was never dragged down to some interrogation room despite showing strength that crosses human limits, because having a half blood is a serious risk for the entirety of humanity? Not that he had anything to say, when he had the blood of the goddamn gold dragon running through his veins for that matter.
The important thing was not to get caught. Getting caught by any of the prominent figures will get you killed, for that matter. Fortunately, for him, though he did not reveal his overwhelming strength anytime, just his high physical flexibility as well as superb combat prowess, which let him win almost any battle among his peers with extreme ease.
Except for fighting with Sophia, she...is just a monster, a monster on a completely different level. I mean, what kind of human, arm-wrestles with the most powerful dragon blood holder and wins in a pure physical contest, as for combat? Yeah, let’s not even mention that. Thought Lucien and went back on his way. It seems he owed Axel another round of apologies and 2 favors by now. He had to think of something else to appease that guy, sigh.
