Falling for the Omega Idol-Chapter 72: HE’S ADORABLE, HE’S CUTE
Chapter 72: HE’S ADORABLE, HE’S CUTE
ROBIN and Taeyang glanced at each other as they spoke simultaneously, their expressions reflecting two completely different emotions.
Robin was curious. Why would number one ask Haneul if he was going to have lunch? It seemed clear that it would lead to an invitation. At the same time, he felt a bit worried. Number one was an Alpha, and Robin hoped he didn’t have any hidden motives for wanting to have lunch with Haneul.
On the other hand, Taeyang’s brows furrowed slightly when he heard the pink-haired guy ask Haneul which room he was assigned to. He knew they were friends, but was this normal? Maybe he was being overly sensitive, especially since his understanding of secondary genders came solely from what he had read and not from personal experience. But still... something felt off.
If anyone could read his thoughts, they’d probably tell him that it felt "off" only to him. And that, in itself, already spoke volumes.
Haneul blinked, caught off guard by both of them speaking to him at once. As he hesitated, trying to decide whom to respond to first, Jung Taeyang suddenly spoke up.
"Please be mindful of what you’re asking. There are cameras everywhere. You wouldn’t want to stir up a controversy with Haneul right at the beginning of the program, would you?"
Both Robin and Haneul showed a confused look once they heard Jung Taeyang’s question. It took a full on minute before it registered to the two of them what he meant by what he said.
"Wait- are you saying that because you thought I’m an Alpha?" Robin asked, tilting his head.
Jung Taeyang’s expression seemed to ask, "Aren’t you?"
Haneul felt the need to clear up the misunderstanding, but just as he was about to speak, Robin continued talking.
"For your information, I’m an Omega. So, if there is someone here who could stir up a controversy with Haneul, it would be you, an Alpha. Unless, of course, you’re also an Omega."
Robin said that last part with a smile. But since it was very obvious that Jung Taeyang was an Alpha, what Robin said only sounded like a mockery.
Haneul glanced at Jung Taeyang, worried that the other might get angry. If they started an argument here and the cameras caught it, then that would really be a controversy.
He recalled how Jung Taeyang was known for his no-nonsense attitude. Early in his career, he faced numerous controversies over his so-called ’attitude problem’ because he refused to play nice with people he didn’t like. He wouldn’t even bother to fake it. Rumors about him being an entitled, rude brat were rampant back then. If it weren’t for his musical talent and chaebol background, he might not have lasted in the industry.
As Haneul searched for a way to calm things down, he noticed Jung Taeyang’s expression. The other looked slightly stunned, his eyes a bit wider than usual and his brows knitted together, like someone who’d just been caught off guard by a plot twist in a movie. It wasn’t an over-the-top reaction, but a subtle mix of disbelief and confusion, as if he was trying to figure out how Robin ended up being an Omega.
It was kind of... adorable?
The moment he thought of that word, Haneul quickly caught himself. You crazy person, adorable, really?
"You’re... an Omega?" Jung Taeyang asked, his face still etched with disbelief.
"Yes, I am. Do you need to see my ID to believe it?" Robin replied, still smiling, but anyone who knew him well could tell he was getting irritated. "Or would you prefer I release a whiff of my pheromones right here, just to prove I’m really an Omega?"
Jung Taeyang didn’t respond immediately, as if he were genuinely considering Robin’s last suggestion. Watching this, Haneul noticed the muscles in Robin’s face twitch. This was probably the first time he’d seen the usually good-natured Robin so close to losing his temper. It seemed that Jung Taeyang’s bluntness really rubbed him the wrong way.
Before things could escalate into a full-blown argument, Haneul quickly stood up. "I’m getting kind of hungry. How about the three of us go grab lunch?"
-----
The three of them made their way to the hotel’s main restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant was spacious enough to accommodate all one hundred contestants, but not everyone chose to eat there right away. Many had gone to check out their assigned rooms first, so only a few were there for lunch.
The hotel had transformed the restaurant into a buffet-style setup, making it easier for the contestants to grab their food quickly.
After getting their food, the three of them easily found a table to sit at.
Haneul glanced at Robin and Jung Taeyang. The two remained silent, not saying a word to each other. With a sigh, he decided to break the ice.
"What do you think of this first mission?"
"Hmm... it’s definitely tough," Robin replied. "Memorizing both the lyrics and choreography in such a short time is no easy feat."
Haneul nodded, admitting, "The choreography is definitely going to be a challenge for me."
Taeyang’s ears perked up at that, and before he could think it through, he found himself saying, "If you run into any difficulties with some of the routines or can’t remember something, I could give you a hand."
Realizing what he just said was so out of character for him, it was already too late to take it back. He glanced at Haneul, who was looking up at him with wide eyes, blinking in surprise, his expression almost childlike in its confusion.
Cute...
Taeyang almost let out a curse because of that sudden thought. He was about to suggest that Haneul could simply ignore the offer if it made him uncomfortable, but before he could get the words out, Robin Leroux—yes, it’s the name of the pink-haired guy who apparently was an Omega—suddenly chimed in.
"How generous of you, Mr. Jung," Robin said with an exaggerated tone. "Could I also take advantage of this kindness?"
