First Demonic Dragon-Chapter 931: Fractured Mind
Abaddon grabbed the arms of the corpse holding onto his neck.
Without the slightest bit of anger or malice, he used his strength to pull the zombie off of him slowly.
Even if he was being 'attacked', he still wanted to avoid anything drastic.
Among the various flavors of the undead, zombies were among the most pitiful existences. Every moment they maintain consciousness is comprised of pain and hunger.
"S-So… I'm so.." Nathan tried to speak, but none of the words would come out properly.
Eventually, he wept from the agony of the pain coursing through his body. A black tear fell down his cheek as his chest rose and fell heavily.
Bekka saw her husband's body tense up, and she knew exactly what he was about to do.
Before he could foolishly try to heal him with aether, she wrapped her arms around his midsection and tried to pull him back.
"I know you want to, but please… don't." Bekka said breathlessly.
Abaddon barely heard her. The urge to do what he felt was right had almost completely drowned out her voice. Luckily, there was nothing that could overshadow her warmth.
"C-Can you help him?! Please, you have to help him!" Isaac called out.
"Tch..." Kanami held her hand up to his forehead and released a small pulse of mana through her palm.
The wave knocked young Isaac unconscious almost instantly, leaving Kanami to catch him in her arms.
She started to pull out the memory from his head as well.
"Wait." Abaddon said without turning back.
Kanami paused, but only to smile at her brother apologetically.
"I know it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but it's the best thing to do. He shouldn't hold onto these memories. They won't serve him even in the slightest. Would you wanna see me like that? Or Mal?"
Abaddon fell silent. His sister watched the back of his head like a hawk.
Eventually, he shook his head in denial. Kanami started pulling out the memory immediately.
Abaddon looked up at the corpse in front of him with complex eyes. At first, they had a faraway sadness to them that was difficult to suppress, but it slowly devolved into a smoldering rage.
"...Get out."
"H-Help me..."
Abaddon steeled his resolve.
"I can feel you watching me. Get out of him, Percival."
Nathaniel's body went limp again. One of his crushed eyes became a milky white color, and then a metallic silver.
The body developed a bloody nose. Instead of being watery and sanguine, the liquid was gooey and black like tar.
Abaddon was almost certain that he had seen it before. He would have remembered instantly if his mind wasn't in such a jumble.
"...You.." Nathan wheezed. "Is this... supposed to be your human disguise...? Glasses may have worked for Superman, but I fear you may be a far cry from that."
Abaddon's jaw set in place. "...I should never have doubted that it was you. You're hunting down my disciples now? I will kill you a thousand times over for this."
'Percival' tried to laugh using Nathan's body, but his diminished lung capacity made that kind of thing harder to achieve.
Instead of laughing, he just ended up hacking up a mouthful of black tar.
Bekka's nose wrinkled in disgust.
When Percival finally got himself back under control, he attempted to crack a smile. Broken teeth, jaw, and all.
"Well... I don't know what you were expecting me to do... You don't call... don't write... How else was I supposed to get your attention?"
"You could surrender yourself to heaven's gates like any other sane person would do."
"Oh, I guess, I guess... But then again, 'sane' doesn't actually fit my bill all that well, does it..? I never have been quite right upstairs..."
"Something that is easily corrected with the loss of your life." Abaddon growled.
"Oh, is that all..? I assume you know that death doesn't agree with me... Although getting to see the ravishing Lillian again certainly would do me wonders- AAAAAHHHHH!!!!"
Abaddon instinctively put all of his force into his grip on Nathaniel's arms. He crushed what was left into black, necrotic pulp in less time than it took to blink.
But it was then that Abaddon realized the fullness of what he'd done. Isaac wasn't gone; he was just being hijacked.
His body was still his, whether it was dead or not. He was the one feeling everything happening to him. Not Percival.
The zombie panted slightly as he finally got himself under control. When his breathing returned to normal, that same infuriating smirk returned to his face.
"Hah... dragons and short fuses... the jokes write themselves at this point." He chuckled dryly. "Go on, don't let my occupying this shared space stop you.... Really, let me have it. I deserve it."
Bekka stared at the ground as it cracked underneath her husband.
Sediment and sand began floating up from the pit around him, and his body temperature shot up so high that the clothes on his body started to burn up like tissue paper. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"I will hunt you to the edge of creation for this." He promised.
Abaddon's voice was frightening, disorienting, and upsetting all at once.
The only one who remained unfazed by such a thing was none other than the antichrist himself.
"...No need to go that far." Percival exhaled. "We'll see each other soon enough... Until then, I have more work to do. I needed a bit of help accomplishing that, so I had to borrow a few good workers that you left lying around... You don't mind, do you?"
The coffin finally caught on fire from the heat. Bekka and Kanami became temporary firemen as they put out spotty flames every few seconds.
"How are you here, Percival?" Bekka growled. "Demons are barred from Earth, and Asherah is keeping a close eye on this planet for you."
"Puppy Queen..!" Percival grinned. "I didn't see you there behind this smoldering case of IED. How are you, baby doll..? Did you miss me-"
Abaddon wrapped his hand around Percival's windpipe.
With his body temperature as high as it was, it was no different from placing one's bare flesh against a boiler.
The sound of rotting flesh sizzling and bubbling was nightmarish. The resulting screaming, even more so.
Abaddon almost took so much delight in the sound that he almost completely forgot that there was someone else trapped in the vessel in front of him.
He probably wouldn't have remembered if Bekka hadn't forcefully pulled his arm away.
Percival's body finally recovered, and he grinned again as he glanced passed Abaddon towards Bekka. "Saving my life now, are we? My, our relationship is improving delightfully fast... Should I buy a ring at this rate..?"
"It will be the greatest joy of my life to get to kill you again." Bekka trembled with her own rage. "I cannot wait to see you scream in agony as you try to free yourself from the obscurity that follows you around like a plague."
Now, it was Percival's turn for his expression to turn ugly. His breathing became even more labored as his broken teeth ground against each other.
But eventually, he took several deep breaths and sighed before putting on his usual twisted smile.
"Haaa... Almost had me there, you mangy bitch. But I'm afraid it'll take a hair's breadth more than that to get a rise out of me. You must not be used to this. I'm sure with a vessel like that getting men to rise is easy for you-"
Abaddon lunged at Percival again. This time, Bekka and Kanami had to hold him back from acting erratically.
Kanami could feel her brother's blood boiling. He no longer had a single care in the world about who else was inhabiting the dead body in front of him. He just knew that he had to make him stop talking.
