Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Reunion is Arranged by Heaven

The trip from City S to Imperial Capital wasn’t far; it was a mere two-hour flight.

Serena Summers slept soundly the entire way, constantly nuzzling her cheek into the man’s embrace, wishing she could hide herself away and not want to move at all.

Like a cat that hasn’t fully woken up, she snuggled into her owner’s arms and acted like a spoiled child.

Adrian Holt felt as if his entire heart had melted.

He sighed as if resigned to his fate, bent down, scooped Serena into his arms by her waist, and strode down the plane with long steps.

The two didn’t carry any luggage with them, only some small gifts they had bought at the mall earlier.

Serena was very light; carrying her felt almost weightless, so Lucas Shaw handled her with the utmost care, as if afraid to accidentally awaken her.

As they stepped out of the airport, Adrian Holt was met by two men approaching, both exhibiting exceptional appearances and auras.

One man exuded a cool and distant air, his handsome features accentuated by a tailored dark-navy bespoke suit that hugged his perfect form, adding to his already-chilling presence.

The other was dressed in casual attire, exuding an air of casualness in every movement.

Standing in the crowd, the two were strikingly conspicuous.

Adrian Holt lowered his eyes to the girl sleeping soundly in his arms, his lips slightly pressed together, his grip around her subtly tightened a few notches.

Upon seeing Adrian’s face, Edward Selwyn and Vincent Carter were simultaneously taken aback.

They exchanged a glance and then quickly approached him.

"Senior brother, second senior brother," Adrian’s tone was cool as he nodded towards the two men.

Edward Selwyn’s eyebrows twitched imperceptibly, but he did not respond, his gaze fixed on the girl in Adrian’s embrace.

Vincent Carter examined him with a curious look, "I heard you lost your memory? Then how did you manage to find your way back?"

His question hit the nail on the head.

Logically, if someone truly lost their memory and disappeared for two years, it would be difficult to find their way back unless they came across someone familiar or remembered something.

But Adrian Holt had returned on his own.

Adrian Holt cast a dismissive glance at him, thinking that not all information might be true.

Who says Vincent Carter is so absorbed in filmmaking that he has no scheming? Could someone without any scheming survive in the entertainment industry for so many years?

He parted his thin lips, replying in a tranquil tone, "Perhaps it was destiny’s arrangement that I would encounter her once again."

As he spoke, Adrian Holt lowered his lashes, his deep eyes intently gazing at Serena, his gaze brimming with tenderness.

Vincent Carter paused, then laughed out loud, patting Adrian’s shoulder, "It’s good that you’re back."

After his sea accident, Serena had changed, becoming desolate and hopeless, as if all the color had drained from her life.

The last time he saw Serena, despite acting as if nothing was wrong, anyone with eyes could see that she wasn’t happy.

If it weren’t for that sliver of hope in her heart, believing that Lucas Shaw would return, she probably would have followed him long ago.

Seeing her again, even in her sleep, it was clear that the shadow in her eyes had faded.

As a senior brother who watched Serena grow up, he wished for her happiness more than anyone else.

Edward Selwyn was silent all the way, exuding a bone-chilling coldness.

Once inside the car, with Vincent Carter sitting in the passenger seat, he felt as if the temperature in the vehicle had dropped several degrees, causing goosebumps to form on his arms.

He glanced at Edward, who was driving, then at Adrian sitting in the back row, feeling a mix of helplessness and amusement.

Edward had always been the one who doted on Serena the most. If she was seen as having been raised under his watch, then the person who truly brought her up would definitely be Edward.

In the past, their master often traveled the world to treat patients, and as the senior brother, Edward took on the responsibility of looking after the younger ones at home.

Edward Selwyn adopted a hands-off approach with both his third junior brother and Lucas Shaw.

But his treatment of Serena Summers was different—he combed her hair daily, bought her gifts, did laundry, and cooked for her, tending to her every need.

To say that he was looking after a daughter wouldn’t be an overstatement.

In these two years, as Serena Summers suffered, Edward Selwyn’s heart ached more than anyone’s. Naturally, he held resentment towards Adrian Holt.

Adrian Holt did not understand the relationship between Edward and Serena, so he naturally refused to show any weakness.

When two strong-willed and icy people come together, it’s like two glaciers colliding, a crash that could instantly shatter mountains and split the earth.

Poor Vincent Carter could only watch the two silently, not daring to take so much as a deep breath.

It was tragic, utterly tragic for him!

Serena Summers, who was asleep, felt a chill and instinctively curled up, her slender arms tightly wrapping around the man’s strong waist.

Adrian Holt, sensing the movement in his arms, withdrew his gaze and the icy aura on his body instantly dissipated without a trace.

The silent contest between the two men was easily dissolved by a small unwitting gesture from Serena Summers.

Adrian Holt lowered his eyes, the ice in them slowly melting.

He tightened his arm around Serena Summers’ arm and gently patted her back with his warm palm, coaxing in a deep voice, "Go to sleep, I’m here."

Perhaps reassured by the man’s deep soothing voice, Serena Summers’ furrowed brow gradually relaxed, and she drifted back to sleep.

"She went to treat someone?" Edward Selwyn also repressed the chilliness emanating from himself, lowering his voice to ask.

"Mmhmm." Adrian Holt responded briefly in a cold tone.

With one arm, he held Serena Summers closer for comfort, while the other gently caressed her cheek with his fingertips.

"That girl just can’t stay still; she always ends up tiring herself out," Vincent Carter remarked helplessly.

In the meantime, Edward Selwyn had already driven his car into his villa; after parking the car, he lifted his gaze to the rearview mirror and glanced behind, saying, "Get out, the suite you’ve got hasn’t been lived in for a while and is untended. You can stay here for the time being."

Adrian Holt didn’t refuse and carefully lifted Serena Summers out of the car.

Edward Selwyn’s villa was located in the city center, in the same neighborhood as the house that Lucas Shaw had bought two years ago. Their two villas were neighbors, very close to each other.

This villa was specially picked by Edward Selwyn.

...

When Serena Summers woke up, she found herself lying in a neatly arranged room.

The style of the room was the same as the one where she lived in the mountains—a pure and girlish pink, clearly arranged by her senior brother.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes, stretched lazily, turned over, and bumped right into a sturdy, warm embrace.

She looked up to find Adrian Holt watching her with a smile in his eyes.

"Awake?"

"Yeah." Serena Summers lay back down in a lazy slump. She slept too long and felt sore all over, and had even less inclination to move.

"Get up and move around a bit, we’ll go down to eat later."

"Don’t wanna get up." Serena Summers lay on the bed, whimpering and stretching her arms out to the man, signaling for him to carry her down.

Adrian Holt couldn’t help but laugh helplessly.

Logically speaking, whether or not she had amnesia, he and Serena Summers had only known each other for a few days.

But no matter how affectionate Serena Summers’ gestures were towards him, he never felt anything odd in his heart; in fact, he even felt that everything was as it should be, it was only natural.
