Chapter 196: B*TCH SLAP

WOAH.

As soon as Yuno stepped into the room, he felt the strong Mana coming from Kwon Hojun.

But...

"Hey, aren’t you being a little too clingy, Kwon Hojun?" Yuno scolded the kid. "Jaeha-ya, if you feel uncomfortable, tell me."

Kwon Hojun was sitting on the bed while Kim Jaeha was sitting between his legs.

But the clinginess didn’t end there.

Kwon Hojun actually had his arms wrapped tightly around Kim Jaeha’s waist, and Kwon Hojun even had his face buried in the nook of Kim Jaeha’s neck.

It actually reminded Yuno of how Ki Gayoon would often cling to him.

But Gayoon Hyung and I are lovers, so I don’t mind.

However, Kwon Hojun and Kim Jaeha didn’t have that kind of relationship.

"I’m alright, Yuno Hyung. I consented to this," Kim Jaeha assured Yuno. "I’m Guiding Kwon Hojun."

It didn’t seem like the kid was lying.

"Jaeha wasn’t forced to do this," Lee Sarang, who seemed to be there to babysit the two kids, assured Yuno. "I wouldn’t let Kwon Hojun force Kim Jaeha into doing anything against his will."

Ah, that was a relief then.

Yuno observed Kwon Hojun.

The kid didn’t lift his head even after hearing Yuno’s voice.

I’m pretty sure he’s conscious, but he didn’t greet me?

"Is Kwon Hojun not in his right mind?" Yuno asked worriedly. "I’ve seen other Espers awaken before, but this is the first time I’ve seen a natural S-Class Esper awaken."

To be fair, no one had awakened as a natural S-Class Esper for the last fifteen years.

Not in the official records, at least.

"Compared to how I awakened many years ago, I’d say Kwon Hojun is actually pretty tamed. If I remember correctly, I killed an entire pack of monster werewolves when I awakened. Then I accidentally left the military that came after me half-dead," Lee Sarang said casually as if she didn’t just scare Yuno with her story. "I would have gone on a killing spree had Gayoon Oppa didn’t stop me that day."

Right.

Yuno remembered the records that showed how violent the Top 5 Espers were when they awakened.

We just don’t talk about it because we choose to treat them as heroes instead of monsters.

Moreover, the Top 5 natural S-Class Espers awakened during the early times of the apocalypse, so their violence actually protected humankind from the monsters that descended on earth that day. freewebnσvel.cøm

"Then we’re lucky that Kwon Hojun hasn’t lost his mind yet."

"I think the kid’s awakening is... strange," Lee Sarang said hesitantly. "It’s true that we’re certain he awakened as an S-Class, so that makes him a natural S-Class. But nothing in the process seems to be natural."

"What do you mean by that, Sarang Noona?"

"The half Core that we recovered disappeared when Kwon Hojun awakened."

Yuno’s knees almost collapsed when he fully understood what Lee Sarang meant by that. "No, that can’t be possible..."

"I know, right?" Lee Sarang agreed, grabbing Yuno by the arm since it still looked like he would collapse out of shock. "If the public finds out that a Civilian can awaken if you implanted a Core in their heart, then the world would get turned upside down. I can already imagine low-ranking Espers being targeted for their Cores to be extracted and sold to anyone who wants to awaken. Even dead Espers won’t be able to rest in peace because there would be people digging up their graves for their Cores."

To be fair, for the past years, most Espers died inside the dungeons.

So, there aren’t bodies to be recovered.

On the other hand, Espers who died outside the dungeons were usually cremated. But, of course, there were some who chose to be buried due to religious reasons.

Cores would die soon after their hosts died if they weren’t harvested.

That was exactly why ’Father’ created Items that could store and keep Cores alive.

Haaah.

Now Yuno felt like a fool.

If it’s possible to harvest Guides’ Cores, of course, it’s possible to harvest Espers’ Cores, too.

In his defense, Espers’ business was none of his business.

Even so...

"Yuno-ya, don’t worry about it too much," Lee Sarang said before letting go of Yuno’s arm. "Gayoon Oppa will take care of everything. He has already started a fight with Sungbin Oppa and the others. He won’t let this mind-blowing information get leaked to the public."

Of course, he knew that Ki Gayoon would do that.

However, Yuno was still worried.

And, if I’m honest, this scares me.

It wasn’t the Gates or the dungeon monsters that threatened the Awakened People then and now— it had always been human greed all this time.

I don’t want those bastards to start another human experiment...

"Argh..."

Yuno and Lee Sarang both turned to Kim Jaeha when the kid let out a groan.

Oh.

Kwon Hojun was absorbing Kim Jaeha’s Mana way past the latter’s limit.

Jaeha-ya will faint at this rate...

Kim Jaeha may be an A-Class Guide, but a newly awakened natural S-Class Esper who wasn’t in his right might was still too much for him.

It’s a job for me, an E-Class Guide.

"Sarang Noona, please protect me," Yuno said while approaching the two kids. "I’ll guide Kwon Hojun until he returns to normal."

"Alright," Lee Sarang said. "But be careful. Kwon Hojun is overprotective of Kim Jaeha. He glared at me when I tried to approach them earlier."

"It’s because Noona is an Esper. I’m a Guide, so I’m not a threat to Kwon Hojun."

And Yuno was right.

Kwon Hojun didn’t react even when he stood next to them, with a little space between them.

A Guide’s presence is always welcomed for an Esper on the verge of losing it.

"Kwon Hojun, raise your head."

Yuno had to use his Mana to force Kwon Hojun to listen to him.

An E-Class Guide’s Mana had the scent that attracted natural S-Class Espers, so he wasn’t surprised when Kwon Hojun lifted his head with a surprised look on his face.

Oh, his eyes are still a bit reddish.

But since Kwon Hojun’s eyes were not glowing red anymore, it meant Kim Jaeha did an excellent job guiding him with only a hug— one of the simplest forms of physical contact between an Esper and Guide.

It only meant one thing.

These two kids have a high matching rate.

"Yuno... Hyung?"

Oh.

Yuno was relieved when recognition crossed Kwon Hojun’s eyes. "Yes, it’s me," he said, extending his hands to the kid. "Let go of Kim Jaeha and hold my hands."

Kwon Hojun nodded politely, and then he unwrapped his arms around Kim Jaeha’s waist to hold Yuno’s hands quietly.

"Good boy."

Lee Sarang then quickly and carefully carried the almost unconscious Kim Jaeha in her arms. "I’ll bring Kim Jaeha to Woonhak Oppa."

Yuno just nodded, and then he sat on the chair next to the bed— still holding Kwon Hojun’s hands. "You’re greedy, huh?"

Kwon Hojun just tilted his head to one side, obviously confused and clueless.

"You’re absorbing my Mana, like a gluttonous kid who doesn’t know when to stop eating," Yuno warned Kwon Hojun lightheartedly. "Hojun-ah, be careful. You’ll get a stomachache if you eat too much."

TSK.

Ki Gayoon felt it as soon as Noh Yuno released a huge amount of his Mana.

When he didn’t know about E-Class Guides yet, he thought Noh Yuno’s Mana smelled delicious. Which was weird because he had never experienced that with other Guides before.

But he later realized the cause.

It’s because E-Class Guides are compatible with natural S-Class Guides.

That got him thinking, though.

"How did Yuno and the Lab find out that E-Class Guides are compatible with natural S-Class Guides when they didn’t work with us back then?" Gayoon asked out loud. "Yuno didn’t mention that part in his story."

"It’s probably a part of the memories that I sealed in my head," Moon Noa said even though Gayoon wasn’t asking him directly. "I know you already noticed it. But Yuyu’s memories are consistent."

Yeah, Gayoon noticed that.

But I thought it was only because Noh Yuno has selective memory— he only remembers things he wants to remember.

"The skill I used affected Yuyu because I borrowed a bit of his life force—"

"ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?!"

Gayoon really wanted to hit Moon Noa, but Leehan blocked his way with a shadow beast— the shadow of a monster wolf with three heads, to be precise.

It’s an S-Grade Beast.

Right, Moon Noa didn’t come alone.

"Leehan, I’m giving you three seconds to get out of my way," Gayoon said through gritted teeth. He was only being merciful because he knew Noh Yuno respected and admired Leehan as a hyung. "If you don’t move that stupid shadow beast out of my face, I’m going to kill you first."

"It’s not like I can do anything if you decide to kill me, Gayoon-ssi," Leehan said, laughing nervously. "But if you kill me and Noa Hyung-nim, I just know Yuno would hate you. Can you live with that?"

Hah.

So, this bastard is using Noh Yuno against me, huh?

"Fine, I won’t kill you," Gayoon said, raising his hand. "I’ll just break all the bones in your body."

But, first, he used his psychokinesis to make the shadow beast’s head explode.

"No!" Leehan yelled desperately. "You bastard, she’s my favorite pet!"

"Do I look like I give a fuck?" Gayoon scoffed, clenching his hand— causing Leehan to shot up mid-air, frozen and restricted. He was getting to twist Leehan’s body to break his bones. "I warned you, didn’t I?"

Leehan could only glare at him.

"Gayoon Hyung."

Tsk.

Gayoon knew he was going to be scolded, so he immediately dropped Leehan to the floor as soon as he heard Noh Yuno’s voice.

He then turned around to face his lover.

"Yuno-ya, they started it..."

Gayoon trailed off when Noh Yuno walked past him without even looking at him.

And then Noh Yuno slapped Moon Noa with the back of his hand.

Gayoon gasped softly, covering his mouth with one hand, falling in love with Noh Yuno all over again. "That’s so fucking sexy of you, Noh Yuno."
