The silence that followed was... heavy.

Yet it was soon interrupted when a certain fish spoke up.

"Are you alright in the head?" Arthur asked, puzzled.

However, Michael merely chuckled, glancing at the woman who seemed to not have processed what he had said.

She was just merely staring into Michael's eyes with a dazed look.

And soon, she spoke.

"You want to marry me...?" she repeated slowly, as if trying to make sure she didn't mishear him.

Michael simply nodded. "Yeah. It's either that, or you let us go free of charge. Not exactly planning to die here. Doubt you'd want more blood on your hands, especially when neither of us are demons, isn't that right?"

Her brows twitched as she ignored his comment. "I've had demons beg for their lives, angels curse me, and even monsters scream my name with their dying breaths... but this is the first time someone's tried to propose in the middle of battle."

"I like being original," Michael replied with a shrug. "So what do you say? Want to get married, miss Seraphim?"

"Irelia," she corrected. "And I'll have to politely decline your proposal. I'm not interested in marrying just anybody. So, how would you like to die?"

"Hmm... and here I thought we could come to some sort of an arrangement." Michael sighed. "Are you sure there's no way you'd marry me? I have a lot to offer."

"Like what? Your flailing wings that I can snip off?" Irelia tilted her head. "You're weak, you're somewhat pretty, and might I add, being pretty is your only redeemable quality."

"Is that so..." Michael trailed off with a grin.

All of a sudden, he dashed toward her and sent a full-powered kick straight toward her abdomen.

However, Irelia simply shot him an amused look and sent a kick in return.

She was probably expecting Michael to not back away and limit test the kick, which, in turn, would probably make him explode like a balloon.

But nope, he was going to do something a little different.

He focused on his body, which was practically made fully out of mana, and then, with a mere thought, he separated his leg in two, cleanly dodging Irelia's foot, and then reattaching his leg once again.

And that moment of surprise was enough for Michael to land a soft kick right to her abdomen.

But it felt like he had hit a brick wall instead.

The impact echoed like someone had slapped a slab of steel. Michael's foot throbbed immediately, and he stumbled back a step, wincing.

"Damn," he muttered, shaking his leg. "You working with internal armor plating, or are you just built different?"

Irelia didn't respond. She was staring down at her abdomen, where a faint scuff mark—an actual mark—was left on her armor.

Her expression turned blank. Then slowly, her eyes lifted to meet his.

"You touched me," she said, more confused than angry.

"Yeah?" Michael tilted his head, puzzled.

"You touched me," she repeated, this time with a hint of realization.

Arthur, watching from a distance, tilted his head. "Wait… was that like, a cultural thing? Are we getting cursed now?"

Kael leaned over. "I believe she's in shock."

"You know what else is shocking?" Arthur replied. "The fact that dipshit over there is still alive."

Michael rolled his neck and tried to look casual, but even he was sweating a bit. The slight sting in his foot wasn't just from the hit—it was from the backlash of hitting someone so absurdly sturdy.

Still, he smirked through it.

"See? Told you I had a lot to offer," he said. "Great flexibility. Decent aim. Somewhat charming smile?"

But his words seemed to fall on deaf ears as she raised her hand and then brought it down to her armor, rubbing the scuff.

She wasn't affected physically, but he could only assume his attack did a little more to her mentality than he could imagine.

After all, even if she wasn't an official Seraphim, her strength was still great, and for someone to catch her off guard like this must have been humiliating.

But since she was taking her time to process, Michael merely turned to Kael and Arthur before signaling them to fuck off.

"I'll catch up," Michael added. "Just go further away, yeah?"

"You don't have to tell me twice," Arthur replied with a chuckle, and without waiting even a second, dashed away.

Kael seemed a little more hesitant, but upon seeing the resolute look on Michael's face, he too ran away.

And now, only Michael and Irelia were left on the battlefield.

She was dazed, and he had plenty of clarity in his mind.

However, if he didn't know any better, then he'd think she would simply back away.

But that was just a foolish wish, since in the very next moment, Irelia snapped out of it and sent a glare his way.

He felt his body stiffen up, unable to move. And yet, despite all that, Michael didn't particularly feel any malice coming from her.

Instead, it was just raw curiosity.

And his theory was further confirmed as she began walking around him, inspecting every nook and cranny she could think of.

Obviously, she didn't take his clothes off, not yet anyway.

Still, he could salvage this situation pretty easily if he were to use Sanctuary and his powers over time.

After all, this Seraphim was strong, but she wasn't experienced.

Irelia resembled Arthur in a way. But Arthur was a fish, and she was a Seraphim, so there was a slight difference in that regard.

Of course, her strength wasn't to be underestimated either.

"I really hope you're not planning anything naughty by binding me down..." Michael muttered, causing her brows to furrow.

"Silence. I'm thinking," Irelia replied, walking closer and lifting both of his arms into the air.

She inspected his muscles, even trying to infuse some of her own mana into him.

Alas, his body no longer supported other people's mana, so her mana simply came in one end and traveled out the other.

Therefore, the only thing that did was make her even more puzzled.

"You're neither an angel nor a demon... you resemble a human the most, however, your blood seems to have different properties. As for your mana, it has draconic properties, angel purification, and even demonic destruction... how fascinating," Irelia muttered.

Then, she simply cut into his arm.

Yet no blood dropped down. Instead, a bit of white mana leaked out before closing the wound.

"You're like a balloon of mana," Irelia remarked. "Is this the forbidden body I heard so much about?"

"Wanna check it out more thoroughly?" Michael teased, and to his surprise, Irelia nodded.

"Indeed. I'll need to take your pants off."

"H-Hold on..." Michael swiftly used Sanctuary, breaking free of her control. "While I'm flattered, maybe some other time? This place isn't exactly the best to get in the mood."

Irelia tilted her head. "So you can escape my control as well... you're definitely an interesting subject."

"So that part about taking my pants off was a lie?" Michael commented with a sigh. "And here I thought you were some sort of pervert."

Her brows twitched. "Your foul tongue is going to get you killed one day. However, that day is definitely not today. I want you to come with me."

"And go where exactly?" Michael asked. "I'd rather just continue journeying on with the other guys, you know? I'm sure..."

He trailed off, glancing to the side where he saw Arthur and Kael being brought back by a couple of chimera Seraphim.

They were clearly unconscious, but then again, at least they were alive.

"Them? I've taken care of it," Irelia remarked. "Now then, I suppose now you have no choice but to come with me."

"Only if you smile," Michael added, trying to buy a little time for what he was planning on doing.

"You want me to smile? No." Irelia shook her head immediately and then proceeded to extend her hand toward him, trying to grab him by the neck.

Yet he merely took a deep breath, and in the very next moment, he froze time in a short radius around him.

She seemed affected, but not by much. Her movements were greatly slowed down, but she was aware of everything that was going on.

Nonetheless, since Michael managed to charge up such a time bubble, the only thing left was to simply run away.

The chimera Seraphim weren't even reacting. Therefore, Michael dashed over to Kael and Arthur, picked them up, and began flying away.

He could feel the fierce pressure coming from Irelia's direction, but he simply ignored it.

His mana was being drained at a rapid rate due to the time-stopping zone. However, he endured it, until eventually, he was tens of kilometers away.

Michael knew that was nowhere near enough to run away from the Seraphim. However, if he didn't release his time-stopping zone now, then he would literally explode.

Therefore, Michael focused and undid it, waiting for the inevitable to happen.

But even after several seconds had passed, no one arrived, nor could he feel that pressure from earlier.

That was why he let out a relieved sigh.
