Chapter 97: Blade Dancer v2.0 - 2

Zain tilted his head, watching Velra with a smirk.

"So, you usually fight with just your legs, right?"

Velra nodded confidently.

"Of course. It’s my signature."

Zain chuckled.

"Figures."

"You’re like a dancer with blades for feet."

"No wonder you’re graceful—but limited."

Velra raised an eyebrow. "Limited?"

"Mmhm," Zain nodded, eyes glinting.

"Which is why we’re fixing that."

He raised his hand again.

Velra’s body shuddered slightly as each new ability locked into place.

Her limbs pulsed with energy.

Sparks danced across her toes.

Her balance shifted—perfectly.

She rolled her ankles and stretched her legs with curiosity and awe.

She looked down at her own body like it wasn’t hers anymore.

"I feel..." she whispered. "Unreal."

Zain crossed his arms.

"Good."

"Now you’re what you should’ve always been."

Velra stepped forward and disappeared in a blink.

She reappeared behind Zain before he could blink twice.

"I didn’t even try to Quick Step."

Zain raised an eyebrow.

"That’s because your body’s smarter now."

She stretched again, legs coiled like springs.

"Spinning Kick... Hard Kick... Grace Form..."

"This all stacks with Waltz Zone."

"Exactly," Zain said.

"And now you have electric and venom trail support."

"Not to mention visual confusion from Afterimage Trace."

Velra blinked.

"I can trap enemies without even touching them."

Zain grinned.

"Now you’re thinking like my slave should."

Velra then stared at him, still trying to understand.

"Just... who the hell are you, Master?"

"How can you give people abilities? Just... give them?"

She shook her head slowly.

"I’ve never even heard of someone who could do that."

Zain only smirked, folding his arms.

"Like I said."

He stepped closer, his presence towering.

"I’m your Master."

"And you—"

He tapped her chest lightly with one finger.

"—are now my slave."

Velra breathed in sharply, then smiled.

"A slave you forged yourself."

Zain turned slightly, gazing at the bloodied ruins behind them.

"Now that you’ve been enhanced, don’t underestimate those low-tier abilities."

"You combine them with A-Rank stats, and suddenly, you dominate everyone in your path."

She nodded firmly.

Zain’s eyes narrowed. "It’s time."

"Time for what, Master?" she asked, tilting her head.

Zain turned back to her.

"Time to make yourself known."

"Your enemies need a name to fear."

Velra knelt on one knee again, head bowed with pride.

"Yes, Master. I will not let you down."

She raised her gaze, silver eyes burning.

"I am Velra... the Velvet Demon."

Zain smirked. "That’s a good name."

Velra nodded, lips curling into a proud, wicked smile.

"Then from now on... I kill in your name."

Zain’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

"Good. Then show me."

He stepped back slightly, giving her space.

"Show me what you can do now, Velvet Demon."

"Find your first target."

"Make it count."

Velra rose gracefully to her feet.

"Yes, Master," she said with a grin.

"And I already know the perfect one."

---

Zain and Velra moved quietly through the alleys.

They stepped lightly, barely making a sound.

Until Zain raised his hand and pointed upward.

From the broken ceiling above, they could see three figures.

They gathered around a makeshift outpost.

Zain narrowed his eyes.

"So that’s them?"

Velra nodded.

"Yes. That’s them."

Zain glanced at her.

"More of Karven’s pets?"

Velra’s jaw tightened.

"Friends."

"Another team that used to share jobs with his. Their leader..."

Her eyes fixed on the center figure.

He was tall, broad, shirtless with gray beast-skin pants.

"...is named Gurrak. I detest him."

Zain raised an eyebrow. "That strong?"

Velra shook her head. "His strength isn’t the issue."

She looked at Zain, her tone cold.

"His eyes."

"Every time our teams crossed paths, his eyes were always crawling across my body."

"Like I was a prize on a shelf waiting to be owned."

Zain’s smirk turned sharper.

"Well... good thing you’ve been claimed."

He raised his hand, calling the system interface.

Zain studied the three one by one.

"They don’t look weak."

Velra nodded.

"They’re stronger than my old team."

"Gurrak especially. He’s savage. Unstable."

Zain turned toward her, his tone teasing.

"Then... can you handle them alone?"

Velra’s lips curled into a dark grin.

"Of course, Master."

She looked down at her own hands.

"If I can’t defeat them even after being enhanced..."

"I don’t deserve to be your slave."

Zain let out a low chuckle.

"Now that’s what I like to hear."

He waved her forward.

"Go. Show me what a Velvet Demon really looks like."

Velra bowed her head once.

"As you command, Master."

Her voice dropped into a whisper.

"This time... I won’t let a single one of them leave breathing."

Then she vanished.

She was on the hunt.
