Chapter 151- Someone Is Going To Die Today

Beatrice POv

I had no words. Just pain. Shame.

"You didn't think, even for one second, that something was wrong? That maybe this guy was a red flag from the beginning?"

He shook his head slowly and then chuckled bitterly.

"You're dumber than I expected," he said flatly.

I didn't even try to defend myself. Everything he said was true. And the more I thought about it, the more I hated myself too.

Still, I muttered, "He's the dumb one. For scamming me. For tricking me into trusting him."

Declan spun around and glared at me.

"No, Beatrice. No. The only dumb person in this whole thing is you."

I flinched, but he didn't stop.

"That man—whatever the hell his name was—isn't the dumb one. You told me it's Dave, right?"

I nodded.

"Well, Dave isn't dumb. He's a fucking scammer. A professional. He knew what he was doing."

"You're the dumb one, Beatrice. Because you let him do it."

"Dave isn't the dumb one because he was smart enough to scam you and walk away with everything."

"Dave isn't the dumb one because he even fucked you less than 48 hours after meeting you. That man saw you coming from a mile away."

"And you? You walked right into it. Smiling."

My throat tightened. My chest felt like it was being squeezed.

"It's high time you face it, Beatrice," he said coldly. "In this whole mess, the only fool here is you."

"I understand why Tyler left," he added after a long pause. "He just couldn't handle the level of your dumbness anymore."

"And as for Dave," Declan said, with a smirk on his face, "kudos to him for scamming you off that mon—"

He suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

I blinked, confused.

"Why did you stop?" I asked, trying to read his expression. Something had shifted.

His eyes narrowed a little, his head tilted slightly like he was trying to force a memory to the surface. Then he spoke.

"The name Dave... it sounds so familiar. Like I know someone with that name."

That was the moment my breath caught in my throat.

Oh no. We were finally here. The part I'd been silently dreading. I knew this moment would come eventually. I'd been hoping we'd skip past it, that we'd stay focused on just finding Tyler. But now... here we were. Entering dangerous territory.

I cleared my throat, not saying a word.

Declan looked straight at me. "Do you have a picture of him? Anything? I need to see if it's the Dave I'm thinking of."

I nodded slowly, heart pounding.

"I need to be sure," he said. "And Beatrice, let me warn you—if you show me the wrong picture or try to play smart, I will know. And I swear to God, I will kill you."

I flinched.

"I'm not lying," I whispered and grabbed my phone with shaky hands. I started searching through my gallery. I remembered I had two pictures of him. One where he was fast asleep on my bed, and another where he was standing next to Declan.

That second one could ruin everything.

If I showed him that one, he'd know immediately. He'd blame me for not telling him. For being stupid. For not seeing the signs. I couldn't handle more blame right now.

So, I chose the one where Dave was sleeping. His face was half-turned, but still clear enough.

I handed my phone over.

Declan took the phone and stared at the screen. His eyes widened slowly. I could feel the shift in the air—something dark, something dangerous.

He didn't speak right away. Then his voice dropped, low and heavy.

"Before I say anything... whose house is this? Whose room was this photo taken in?"

I swallowed hard. "It's mine. My room."

"I thought so," he said bitterly. "So you even brought him into your house. Into your bedroom. You let him fuck you in the same room you sleep in every night?"

I didn't answer.

Honestly, I was tired of him slut-shaming me. Yes, I had sex. So what? I'm human. It's been a long time. I've been lonely. Does that make everything my fault?

He shook his head in disgust and stared harder at the photo, squinting.

"Wait... something's not right," he murmured. "Even though he's sleeping, his face looks familiar. The more I look, the more I feel like I know him. Not just the name... the face too."

I held my breath.

Then he exploded.

"OHHHHH FUCK!!"

His voice thundered through the room and I jumped, completely startled.

"That bloody motherfucker!!! David!" he roared. "His real name is David! People call him Dave! That bastard is my fucking bodyguard! MY GUARD!!"

My knees nearly gave out.

"So that's it?" he shouted. "That's how he knew? He saw me give you the money... and he used that information to plan everything?"

I nodded slowly. "Yes," I said, my voice trembling. "It was all a setup. He came into my life with a plan. He already knew how much I had. He didn't guess—he knew. Everything was fake."

Declan started pacing. His hands balled into fists. He looked like he was about to tear the whole house apart.

He suddenly turned to me again. "Do you still have the picture of the wallet he showed you? The one he claimed was his?"

"Yes," I said and quickly pulled it up on my phone.

I handed it over, and as soon as he looked at it, his rage doubled.

"This is my wallet!" he yelled. "This isn't his! This is mine! He used my wallet to scam you! This was an inside job!"

He turned to the side and pulled out his phone. His fingers moved fast—deadly fast. He dialed a number and pressed the phone to his ear. The call connected instantly.

"Meet me at The Rusted Anchor Motel. Now. Come with all my guns."

His voice was ice.

"Somebody is going to die today."
