His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 80: Injury and Tension
Chapter 80 - Injury and Tension
Shuri slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurry as she adjusted to the bright lights. The first thing she saw was Noran, his light blue eyes filled with worry as he looked at her.
"Rin, you're awake. How are you feeling?" he asked gently.
"Ran? W-Where am I?" Shuri replied, trying to sit up but feeling weak.
"This is the hospital, Rin. I found you hurt and unconscious. A strange man tried to pick you up..." Noran began explaining, his voice steady but tinged with concern.
However, he didn't mention that he had used his divine blessing to locate her, a power that seemed to have grown stronger now that they were reunited.
Noran had recently discovered more about this gifted blessing, secrets he chose to keep to himself for now.
He also left out the part where he had kicked Sigmund for trying to touch her, not wanting Shuri to see the violent side of him.
Shuri struggled to remember. The last thing she recalled was the sharp pain at the back of her neck before everything went dark.
"A strange man?" she echoed, trying to piece together the fragmented memories.
As Noran helped her sit upright, she thought hard, vaguely recalling Sigmund's face, but she wasn't sure. She decided to keep quiet about her suspicions for now.
"Does your arm hurt?" Noran asked, his eyes scanning her for any signs of pain.
Shuri glanced down at her arm, which was bandaged up. The wound was deep, but the painkillers were doing their job, and she felt no pain at the moment.
"I'm fine, Ran. Please don't worry," she assured him with a smile, trying to ease his worried expression.
"How can I not..." Noran stopped mid-sentence, biting his lips subconsciously.
He seemed to blame himself for not protecting her.
He was in the same shelter, yet she had gotten hurt.
Seeing this, Shuri reached out with her uninjured hand and gently touched his lips with her finger.
"Don't do that. You'll bleed," she frowned, disliking his habit of hurting himself whenever he was distressed.
This was why she hated making him worry; his concern always manifested in self-destructive habits.
Noran stopped biting his lips and held Shuri's hand gently. "Tell me, what happened?"
Shuri let out a sigh before recounting the events, telling Noran everything from how Jacob suddenly attacked her to the moment she fell unconscious.
"Do you know how Jacob is doing now?" she asked, sounding concerned.
Noran didn't look pleased. "He hurt you, yet you're concerned about him?"
"I don't think he wanted to hurt me, Ran. Something tells me he was being controlled. It was as if he were possessed," Shuri explained, searching for the right words to convey her feelings.
Noran furrowed his brow slightly. "Something tells you? Was it your special ability?"
Shuri's eyes widened in surprise at his question.
In their previous life, despite fearing Noran might find her abnormal and leave her, Shuri chose to be honest with him and told him about her divine ability to see through people.
However, instead of shunning her, Noran thought Shuri was amazing and assured her that he didn't mind her power, as he would always be honest with her.
Yet in this life, Shuri couldn't bring herself to tell him that she had lost this ability because she had used it in exchange for saving his life.
Pressing her lips together, Shuri murmured, "I just know he didn't mean to hurt me."
Noran noticed Shuri's discomfort when talking about her ability and sensed she was hiding something from him.
He decided not to pursue it further.
It seemed that, unlike their past life, they weren't completely honest with each other in this one.
Nevertheless, their love for each other remained strong.
Noran squeezed her hand gently. "Don't worry. I heard he was taken to the psychiatric ward and is undergoing various examinations."
Shuri's brows furrowed with worry. "Will he be charged?"
Noran sighed, understanding her compassionate nature.
"If it's proven he wasn't in the right state of mind when he assaulted you, he should be fine. But he will definitely need to undergo psychiatric treatment," Noran repeated what Nigel had told him.
Shuri breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm glad. I don't want him to suffer for something he couldn't control."
Noran's eyes softened as he looked at her. "You should focus on your recovery, Rin. Lie back down and get more rest."
Shuri shook her head. "I'm fine. I want to go home."
She looked eagerly at Noran, squeezing his hand. She didn't think her injury was severe and didn't like staying in the hospital.
Noran gently shook his head. "No, Rin. I've arranged for a thorough medical examination for you tomorrow morning. If everything is fine, then we can go home tomorrow."
Shuri pouted. "But I'm really fine."
Noran wasn't convinced. He had to make sure Shuri was perfectly healthy. He remembered she had suffered from a terminal illness in their past life, and he was afraid she might develop the same illness in this life.
He couldn't risk losing her again.
"Don't worry, I'll stay here with you. I'm not going anywhere," Noran assured her.
"But won't it be uncomfortable for you?"
Shuri glanced at the sofa bed that had already been prepared by the nurse beforehand for Noran to spend the night on, which was next to her bed in the VIP ward. She wanted to go back and sleep with him in their bed.
"If you don't want me to be uncomfortable, then don't get hurt again," Noran said with a smile, helping Shuri lie back down.
Shuri looked at Noran, who appeared rather tired and felt guilty for making him worry. He must be exhausted from taking care of her because of the incident.
So, she didn't argue further and lay back down. "You need to rest early too, Ran."
"After you, Rin."
As he bent over to kiss her forehead, Shuri playfully lifted her face up to kiss him on his lips, surprising him. freewёbnoνel.com
Then, she quickly covered her face with the blanket.
Noran touched his lips and smiled at her playful affection.
Seeing Shuri had turned quiet, he sat back down and watched her drift off to sleep before checking his phone.
Nigel had sent him all the information regarding what happened today and Sigmund's profile.
Noran furrowed his brows when he realized that Sigmund was the son of the chairman of Sung Medical Hospital and the director of the hospital's psychiatric ward—the very hospital they were currently staying in.
Sung Medical Hospital was the best hospital in Sol City, which was why he had Shuri admitted there.
The situation had become rather tricky.
He pondered whether he should move Shuri to another hospital for her medical examination. The thought of Sigmund having access to Shuri's medical information made his blood run cold.
Noran recalled the moment he faced Sigmund as Sigmund commanded him to hand Shuri over.
There was something about Sigmund's voice that compelled his body to obey, an almost supernatural force that tried to override his will.
Noran didn't know whether it was the presence of his blessing or his incredibly strong will that allowed him to resist Sigmund's command and attack him instead.
As Noran pondered this, he realized that Sigmund wasn't someone ordinary. There was an unsettling aura about him, something that hinted at hidden abilities beyond normal comprehension.
Noran tightened his grip on his phone, his mind racing with suspicion. From the look of it, Sigmund appeared to be after Shuri, and he probably possessed some hidden power that was impossible to prove.
Noran knew he had to keep Shuri away from Sigmund at all costs.
The risk was too great to ignore.
Without wasting another moment, he dialed Nigel's number and asked him to arrange for Shuri to be transported to another reputable hospital, somewhere he could trust, for her medical examination the next day.
When Shuri woke up the following morning, she was surprised to find Noran had arranged for a hospital transfer.
He briefly explained that he knew someone at another hospital whom he trusted to handle her full medical examination.
Shuri didn't question his arrangement because she felt that anywhere was the same for her.
As Nigel arrived to facilitate her discharge, Karlene burst into the VIP ward.
"Sis, are you alright?" Karlene's voice was filled with anxiety as she rushed to Shuri's bedside, completely ignoring Noran.
She immediately began examining her sister.
"Oh my god! You're injured! Which bastard did this to you?" she exclaimed upon seeing the bandage on Shuri's arm.
"I'm fine, Lene. It's just a scratch," Shuri reassured her.
"Are you sure? Will it leave a scar?"
"Don't worry, I will recover soon."
Karlene was extremely displeased. When Shuri didn't return home last night and couldn't be reached, the first person she tried to contact was Noran.
Since she didn't have Noran's number, she got his assistant's contact from the dog nanny.
With Noran's permission, Nigel informed Karlene that Shuri was in the hospital.
So, she rushed over first thing in the morning.
"Why was my sis injured? Why didn't you protect her?" Karlene demanded, glaring at Noran.
Shuri quickly intervened. "Lene, it wasn't Ran's fault. He saved me."
Karlene's frustration boiled over. "You're always siding with him. I really don't know what's so good about him besides his face! He can't even protect you!"
Noran frowned but remained silent, recalling how Karlene had said the same thing to him after Shuri's death in their past life.
He bit his lips subconsciously, agreeing with her in some part.
"Lene!" Shuri's tone was stern, her gaze steady as she saw that her sister had crossed the line.
She also noticed that Noran looked genuinely upset.
Karlene stayed quiet, a frown etched on her face, but she refused to apologize.
Noran, looking uncomfortable, excused himself to answer a call, leaving the sisters alone in the room.
Shuri sighed deeply. "Lene, I know you're worried about me, but please don't blame Ran. If it weren't for him, I don't know what might have happened to me."
Karlene's expression softened, a hint of guilt flashing in her eyes as she realized she might have been too harsh. "Fine, I'll ease up on him. But you must allow me to take care of you, alright?"
Shuri nodded quietly, feeling a wave of relief that Karlene wouldn't make things difficult for Noran.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door before it slid open.
"Dr. Lee, how are you feeling?" came a familiar voice.
Shuri's eyes widened in shock when she saw Sigmund entering the room, a creepy smile curling on his lips. His presence immediately sent a chill down her spine, and the atmosphere grew tense.
