His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 98: Wedding Date
Chapter 98 - Wedding Date
"Y-You want to harm our Jin... H-how... how dare you..." Aera trembled in fear and rage, her voice quivering with indignation.
She turned to look at Shuri, who now wore a concerned expression. "You see this, Shuri? This is the true color of your fiancé. He isn't just rude, he's cruel and crazy! He even thought of hurting Jin! How can you marry someone like that?"
Shuri sighed, feeling a headache coming on. Aera had openly provoked Noran, and since Noran hadn't emotionally recovered from the past trauma of almost losing her, he had retorted more aggressively than he usually would.
But before Shuri could say anything, Noran stepped in, his voice icy. "I can be a lot more cruel and crazier if you continue to pester Rin."
"I'm pestering Shuri?" Aera said in disbelief. "I'm just worried about her because she is about to marry a cruel man like you!"
Jin quickly stepped forward, trying to calm his mother down. "Mom, please, this isn't helping. Let's just leave."
But Aera shook off his hand, her eyes flashing with defiance. "What? Why should I leave? You think I'm afraid of him? I'd really like to see what cruel thing he can do to me!"
Noran's gaze turned even colder. "Didn't Park Bank recently lose a major investor? It would be a shame if they were to lose another one, wouldn't it?"
Aera and Jin's eyes widened in shock. How did Noran know about Park Bank's recent loss?
Recently, Park Bank faced a significant setback when one of its largest investors withdrew its funds, causing financial instability. The Park family had been scrambling to repair the damage, securing new investments and stabilizing their reputation. The loss had put tremendous pressure on Aera and her family, making them vulnerable.
Moreover, Park Bank had been struggling with many other issues for the past month.
Aera, feeling the mounting pressure, was more determined than ever to have Shuri marry into her family. She believed that Shuri's presence would bring prosperity and stability, mending the bank's precarious situation once she became part of the Park family.
"What do you know?" Aera pointed a trembling finger at Noran, her voice filled with indignation. "Do you think you have the power to affect our business?"
Noran's eyes narrowed, his tone turning icy. "I can make it a lot worse until your son won't have time to visit Rin."
"You're talking nonsense!" Aera scoffed.
To her and the public, Noran was just a renowned, talented classical pianist with no ties to the business world. They had no idea he was the Chairman of Paragon.
Sensing something off in Noran's confident demeanor, Jin quickly stepped in to calm things down.
"Mom, enough!" he raised his voice slightly, startling Aera.
He turned to Noran. "I'm sorry, Mr. Kingston. My mom has been rude to you. Please forgive her this time."
"Why are you apologizing to this rude man, Jin?" Aera said angrily.
"Mom, we really shouldn't be disturbing Shuri any longer. Let's just leave, okay?" Jin urged, attempting to defuse the escalating tension.
But Aera, stubborn and seething, seemed unwilling to back down.
Noran was on the verge of summoning his men to escort her out when suddenly, Shuri began to cough violently, her face contorting in pain.
Panic erupted in the room as everyone rushed to her side.
Noran's concern was palpable as he reached her first, his voice filled with worry. "Rin, are you okay?"
Without wasting another moment, Noran pressed the call button to summon the medical team.
Within moments, the medical team arrived, their professionalism evident as they assessed the situation quickly.
"We need everyone to leave the room," one of the doctors instructed firmly, his gaze sweeping over the anxious faces. Only Noran was allowed to stay behind as the others were ushered out.
"Why is that rude man the only one allowed in the room with Shuri? I need to file a complaint!" Aera fumed, her voice rising in the hallway outside the ward.
Jin tried to calm her down, placing a gentle hand on her arm.
"Mom, please don't make things difficult for Shuri. She hasn't fully recovered, and it seems she's surviving from a relapse," Jin said, his worry for Shuri evident in his tone.
Despite his desire to be with her, Jin knew he had no place in that room. He could only wait patiently outside, hoping for the best.
Karlene, on the other hand, remained quiet, her gaze fixed on her phone. When Shuri had started coughing earlier, Karlene had been close by and had caught the subtle wink from her sister, signaling that it was an act and not to worry.
Karlene had frowned, puzzled by how far Shuri would go to shield her fiancé from an uncomfortable situation.
Since when had her sister become such a great actor? She had never been good at lying, but now, because of Noran, she seemed to have developed a talent for it.
"Love is a bizarre thing," Karlene thought, "it can even develop new skills in a person."
Inside the ward, the medical team worked efficiently, checking Shuri's vitals and ensuring she was stable. Noran stood by her side, his hand gently holding hers, his worry palpable.
"She's fine," the doctor finally said, offering Noran a reassuring smile. "Just make sure she doesn't get agitated."
Noran nodded, his expression serious.
"She won't be seeing any more visitors," he informed the doctor in charge.
The medical team acknowledged his decision and left the room to inform the anxious group waiting outside.
Once they were alone, Noran, still holding onto Shuri's hand, asked again, "Are you sure you're alright? Should we stay a few more days just to make sure?"
Shuri smiled, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. "Don't worry, I'm really fine. I think I've developed a talent in acting, Ran."
Noran furrowed his brows at her words, a flicker of frustration crossing his features.
"Please don't scare me like that again," he said, his voice filled with genuine worry.
"I didn't mean to scare you," Shuri said softly before asking thoughtfully, "Are you alright?"
Noran replied, "I'm not the one who got injured."
His eyes were still clouded with concern as they rested on her face.
"I didn't mean physically," Shuri said, placing her hand gently over his heart. "Here... You're deeply hurt here."
Despite being the one who had been fatally injured, almost losing her life, Shuri could see that Noran was more deeply affected than she was.
He had become unstable, haunted by the fear of losing her again. She had recovered physically, but it was clear he hadn't recovered emotionally. Shuri didn't know how to make him feel better.
Noran widened his eyes slightly at her remark and took her other hand, the one resting on his chest, into his.
"I guess you're right."
He had lost her once and almost lost her again, which had driven him close to insanity.
"How can I help you, Ran?" Shuri asked softly, her voice laced with concern.
Noran smiled gently, though it didn't reach his eyes. "All you need to do is stay by my side."
Shuri kept quiet, sensing that just being by his side wouldn't be enough to help him fully recover. Even now, with her right beside him, he looked at her with a hint of fear and desperation in his eyes.
She knew he was still deeply shaken.
Gently, she lifted his hands to her lips. "How about we register our marriage this autumn?"
Noran blinked in surprise, the tension in his face softening slightly. "This autumn?"
Noran had been eagerly waiting for Shuri to set a date for their wedding and hadn't expected her to suggest one so soon. He looked at her, surprised but pleased. "Really? When do you want to do it?"
"On November 3rd," Shuri replied with a soft smile. "The same date as we got married in our past life. Our anniversary."
Noran's eyes lit up with recognition. That date was not only their wedding anniversary but also the day he had first stepped into her café, and they had met. It held a special place in both their hearts.
As expected, the proposal brought a smile to Noran's face.
"Alright, let's set our wedding then," he said, feeling a wave of happiness wash over him. The thought of making Shuri his official wife again brought a sense of relief and joy.
"I don't want a grand wedding. Just something simple," Shuri added, not liking the idea of drawing too much attention to herself.
Noran nodded in agreement, thinking it would probably be dangerous for Shuri if the news of their wedding date became public.
It would draw unwanted attention from those who wanted to harm her, especially Sigmund.
Unconsciously, Noran tightened his grip on Shuri's hand, his eyes sharp and filled with anxiety as he thought about Sigmund.
Sensing his unease, Shuri moved closer to him until she was seated on his lap. Her presence and warmth made Noran temporarily forget his anxiety as she hugged him and patted his back gently.
"Nothing will happen to me, Ran. It's you I'm worried about," she said softly. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
He had given up his blessing just to save her, and now Shuri was concerned about what misfortune might befall him.
Noran hugged her back tightly. "What if my misfortune is to lose you again? I'd rather die..."
Shuri quickly pulled back and covered his mouth with her hand, stopping him from saying more.
"I won't forgive you if you choose death," she said sternly, her voice devoid of its usual gentleness.
Noran was quiet for a moment, his eyes reflecting the depth of his fear and love for her.
Feeling rather helpless, he lowered his head to rest on her shoulder. "Let's leave Sol City, Rin."
