Chapter 951 -951: Flying Legs

Du Lai hadn’t responded when Yan Qingwen’s voice came through the walkie-talkie:

“Du Lai, we have now occupied four territories, and from a geographical standpoint, these four territories happen to form an equilateral triangle. The Inspector once said that there are a total of 36 territories. I suspect that the entire play area is one large triangle, and the King’s initial position corresponds to the three corners of the triangle. If this speculation is correct, then the progress of the other two Kings should now be not far behind ours.”

Du Lai frowned, “If it’s indeed a large triangle made up of 36 smaller triangles, we can advance at most two more before encountering an enemy King.”

“Yes,” said Yan Qingwen. “So from now on, we could be attacked at any moment, and the team members can’t be too scattered.”

“Are we supposed to just stay put?” Fu Miaoxue was a bit bored. “Out of the total of 36, we need to secure at least 19 to ensure our victory, and we only have four now…”

“Don’t rush, let’s think of a solution first.” Du Lai squatted down, casually picking up a stone, and drew a map of the triangle on the ground.

An equilateral triangle divided into smaller, equal triangles on the inside.

“Even if each person guards a sensor, we could occupy at most ten territories,” Du Lai threw the stone away, dusting off his hands. “To occupy 19 territories, there is only one way.”

Fu Miaoxue pondered, “…to take them all down?”

Du Lai smiled, “That would be the ideal state, but it won’t be that easy.”

“Someone’s coming!” a companion suddenly shouted!

Du Lai and Fu Miaoxue immediately turned their heads to look, only to see a swiftly moving shadow enter their territory from the boundary line!

Everyone instantly became alert, quickly drawing their weapons.

The newcomer seemed to realize they weren’t a match for so many of them and did not head straight for them, but instead crossed through their territory heading towards where Chen Hui was!

“Chen Hui! Be on guard, someone’s heading your way!” Du Lai pressed the walkie-talkie and yelled.

“I see them!” Chen Hui responded. “They’re very fast, and it’s just one person! …He’s gone! Headed towards Brother Yan’s area!”

“Roger that, we’re ready to attack,” came Yan Qingwen’s calm and steady voice. “…Target spotted, preparing for a prop attack.”

After a moment, Yan Qingwen said, “The opponent is too fast, probably has some kind of speed-boosting prop, we didn’t hit the target.”

“Is that person insane? Just running around our territory?” Fu Miaoxue was very displeased.

Du Lai said, “Such speedsters usually act as scouts, able to quickly survey the overall environment. If we weren’t guarding this area, it probably would have been taken by them.”

“You mean, all the territories nearby have been taken by them?” Fu Miaoxue asked, furrowing her brow.

“The game has just begun; even if they occupy all of them, we can take them back,” Du Lai instructed, “Advance one, Yan Qingwen, you advance one as well, and Chen Hui, stay put.”

They arrived at a new territory.

It was still a triangular wasteland; on the central sensor, the hologram of another King was projected.

Fu Miaoxue touched the sensor with her wristwatch and then received a notification stating that the status change would take another 6 minutes and 48 seconds, which only added to her frustration.

“Just like flies, so disgusting. If that speedster comes running through again just as the time is about to expire, wouldn’t I never be able to change the state of ownership?”

“It shouldn’t happen.” Du Lai analyzed it for her. “The speedster saw Chen Hui and ran straight away without any intention of attacking. It’s very likely that they can’t make any attacks while moving at high speed. Now the opponent is speeding through these territories purely to annoy us and affect our combat mentality.”

“Alright, we won’t fall for it,” Fu Miaoxue pouted. “…Hmph, I’ll catch him sooner or later.”

“We will catch him,” Du Lai assured. “He can’t keep this level of expenditure up for long.”
