I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1170: Uncle Moose’s gift
Chapter 1170: Uncle Moose’s gift
"Take it back first. Let’s see if it’s useful. If not, leave it where you picked it up before the owner notices."
As soon as the last syllables rolled out of Dominic’s tongue, he ended the call. His phone was identical to the one the spare phone Axel was using. It was tiny, half the size of the standard smartphone size.
Slowly, he turned to the window of the backseat, remembering how he agreed with Axel to meet the Madam. He didn’t want to, but Axel was adamant.
After Axel talked to the Madam, he went to Ivy’s place that same night. Through her, he told everything that the madam told him and that she agreed to meet him. The next day, Ivy told Dominic about it and emphasized that Axel was simply giving Dominic a head’s up, and not asking for permission.
’I’m glad he was able to make it through it,’ he thought, feeling the little burden off his shoulders. ’And who is this person he picked up after meeting the madam?’
At this point, Dominic needed to trust his little brother. After all, the main argument Axel told Ivy which he asked to relay to Dominic was; "Florence called him sheltered." It didn’t sit well with Axel.
Dominic knew Axel wouldn’t let this go so easily. Hence, he let Axel handle it, since he also had to learn that Axel was already an adult. Even though in his eyes, Axel was still that whiny little brat and would always be, because he was his little brother for life.
’Florence... Oxley... Ebonhart... Silvers...’ Dominic squinted his eyes, deep in thought. ’In a way, the Ebonhart and the Silvers had the same agenda. And that is to take down Florence Oxley. However, Lukas Silvers didn’t tell me about helping Hera assume the position.’
It could be because Lukas knew Hera would be uninterested in the Oxley Family or whatever great power being the head had to offer. Yet, it still felt weird. Very weird. His gut feeling was screaming at him that there was more that these people hadn’t told them. Whatever it was, Dominic felt like it wouldn’t be good for Hera.
’I wonder what she’s planning to do when she hung up on me,’ he wondered. ’She won’t torture her cousin, won’t she?’
He guessed this was another night that he wouldn’t be able to talk to her. Not that he expected more. They barely exchanged phone calls, but they were short. It was like a tease, and this tease was becoming unbearable.
’I want to hear her voice.’ He mentally sighed, eyes on the window. ’I feel like I’m close to losing my mind.’
As if the heavens heard him, Dominic’s phone vibrated within his grasp again. He raised the phone, furrowing his brows as it was another international number. When he answered it, a smile instantly graced his handsome face.
"Joker gave me a go signal when he found out you were using Moose’s gift to Basti," said Hera from the other end of the line. "That money-hungry fool finally spent his money on something so useful. He should have said it earlier, though."
"You’re saying this call will not be tracked?"
"I know." Hera nodded in disappointment. "Why would Moose give my son this gadget, right? It’s not like I’ll stalk my son’s activity."
"I don’t think he gave this phone to Basti because he thinks you’re going to stalk him."
"Huh?" Hera deadpanned. "If not that, why else would he give something like this to my son?"
Dominic just smiled, thinking that Joker gifted Sebastian a laptop that Gray could use for personal orders without running it by the Secret Floor. Looking back, if Dominic didn’t catch his son infiltrating the CIA, he wouldn’t even find out that his uncles gave him so many useful things as if they were preparing him for a top mission.
"Does that mean..." he trailed off as he prepared his heart not to get disappointed if his expectations didn’t meet reality.
"It means you better put on your earpiece, darling, because you’re spending the day with me," she clarified with a big smile. "Don’t turn it off even if you sleep. Your snores are sexy."
"I hope no one is there with you while you’re saying that."
"Hehe. No one’s with me."
"Where are you?"
"In the booth," she said while securing her phone in her pocket and then fixing her earpiece so it wouldn’t fall.
"What does it look like?"
Hera arched a brow and stopped. "Why are you asking me that?"
"You said I’m going to spend a day with you. I might at least know the little details about what you see."
"Well!" she intoned and looked around the place she was in. "It’s full of tools: chainsaw, saw, clippers, bla bla bla. The usual you see for storage where we keep old, rusting tools."
"You hung up on me to go to an old storage?"
"I hung up on you because Joker picked up your signal and he tried to connect me with you." Hera reached for an old chainsaw and grinned. "Do you know my love, back in the day, when someone is sentenced to death, they would die via guillotine?"
"I know."
"And do you also know that the heavier the crime, the more blunt the blade was?" she continued in a knowing tone, making Dominic squint his eyes suspiciously. "Not all criminals die at one drop of the blade. Sometimes, it takes two or more times before the head falls off."
"What are you planning to do?" he asked. "You sound like you were planning to live a hundred years ago."
"I don’t want to live a hundred years ago if you’re not there," she returned quickly, kicking the door open, and then marched her way to the separate small house near the storage. "I’m just thinking, sometimes, it’s easy to scare someone if they get hurt enough to die, but not really."
"..." — that was confusing.
"Hey!" Suddenly, Hera shouted as soon as she kicked her way into the torture house. Her face instantly twitched as she caught Tiger throwing his gigantic fists one after another before grabbing the man’s collar to ask,
"Who sent you?"
