Chapter 1233: Closing that Chapter in her life
"Oops, Sarreeh."
Everyone looked at Hera in disbelief. She not only forgot that Ivy hadn’t known about her, but she didn’t even try to apologize sincerely, even though she didn’t have to.
Ivy, who was momentarily blank, snapped back to her senses. She expected that if Hera snubbed her, she wouldn’t be surprised. But not only did she say she missed her, but she also called her her best friend!
They hadn’t even met, let alone become best friends.
Ivy already had a best friend, and her name was Heaven Liu. Now that Ivy thought about it, she somehow missed her. She tried calling Heaven when she heard about the divorce, but she couldn’t reach her. Then, life’s been so hectic after that.
"Tch." Tiger grumbled because now he knew he had some explanation to do. "Hera, you and your big mouth should be sewed!"
Hera pursed her lips and squeezed herself to Dominic’s side. "Darling, why is a beggar like him here?"
A beggar?!
Tiger’s face contorted and instantly turned red as he almost choked upon hearing that shamelessness. Who stole his money again!?
"Hoy, Hera. Once we land and settle down, I’m really going to take back my money!" he warned. "I’ve only stayed quiet because I thought we were going to die, but now, I’m going to send you to hell back and forth if you don’t return my wedding allowance!"
Hera whistled as she slid her eyes to the corner, making a mental note that she would return them once she had her own wedding. Knowing Tiger, he would marry Ivy within the day after he got his money.
She wouldn’t be Hera Cruel if she allowed her little brother to marry before her.
"Are you all ready?"
Just then, the flight attendant approached them with a smile. Everyone turned to her and, knowing that was their cue, they went to their respective seats. Hera chose to sit down across from Elliot, knowing the man wouldn’t stop following her until she gave him a moment of her time. So Dominic accompanied her and sat beside her.
Tiger, on the other hand, went to assist his woman.
"Tiger," Ivy called, her eyes swirling with curiosity. Before Hera and Dominic sat down, she heard Hera say, "Explain it to her." Hence, she was curious about what the explanation was.
Tiger offered her a smile and said, "I’ll tell you in a bit. Let’s sit down first."
And when everyone was ready, they heard the pilot speak and greet them before the plane took off.
Axel sat down in the aisle next to his brother and sister. After he fastened his seatbelt, he looked at Elliot sternly.
"Mr. Dunkell, with all due respect, I just want to let you know that I’ve gathered all the best lawyers in the world to handle whatever case you got for her," he warned as if ready to bite Elliot’s head off if the man said something wrong. "So, if you want to make an arrest, it’s not gonna be easy for you."
Axel didn’t like how he sounded, but he had to clarify this now. After everything, all of them knew that this discussion was inevitable.
Elliot understood Axel’s intention and sighed. "Unfortunately, even if I know I should arrest her and the rest of the reapers under the law, I’m afraid it will only be futile. After all, if I arrest her, not only the Reapers will come at us but also the Secret Society and the Zhu family."
It wasn’t like Elliot wanted to arrest her, even though he had made his oath when he started his service.
"Moreover, if I arrest Hera, I have to arrest more than half of the Interpol and many other people in all major international government agencies. Her biggest clients were them, after all," he continued, snapping his eyes back to Hera. "Hera Cruel, this will make me appear weak as a leader of Interpol, but I personally just wanted to let you off the hook. However, I believed you and I knew that even if I don’t arrest you, you have the legal responsibility of the law."
"What you did in the 11th District caused a massive controversy and a massive arrest of many politicians and government bodies. The officer you handed that file turned out to be a secret agent from a secret elite unit of the Feds, and he had been using that information for the witch hunt," he added in a solemn tone. "Despite this internal chaos within these agencies including the Interpol, I would like you to be our star witness to extract the maximum sentence these people could have."
Elliot paused as he took a deep breath. "Having said that, you’ll gain immunity for being part of the crime as long as you confirm their crimes."
Hera rocked her head, but Dominic already spoke.
"She won’t do that." His expression didn’t have the slightest change, like an ice statue that wouldn’t melt under any condition. "Hera will not go into court to do your job, Mr. Dunkell. She had done plenty by giving you everything you need to make a case. If you insist on roping her in these, then my brother will have his lawyers make a counter against you, the Interpol, and everyone who is trying to squeeze out every drop from her. I would also call some of my new friends who might blow this out of proportion."
Axel smirked. "I also know people who can clean very well," he said and winked at them. Butler Zhu gave him the list of people who used to clean after Grandma Zhu and were already introduced to them. They were easier to coax than he expected.
Elliot felt a headache, but he expected this. However, he expected the Reapers to be opposing the idea and not the Zhu brothers.
"Haha," Hera chuckled while looking at Dominic and the adorable baby monster over there. "Axel, Darling, thanks, but I want to take accountability for my previous actions."
Axel and Dominic frowned while Elliot’s eyes lit up as he gazed up at her.
"If I am going to start a new, I want to close the previous Chapter of my life doing the... legal thing. I’ve been living a life as an outlaw, but this time, I want to be a good-abiding citizen. Cheating my way out like usual isn’t the way I want to take." A smile turned up on her face, eyes on Dominic.
She grabbed his hand and winked at him. "Don’t worry. For a big problem such as this, everyone would want to keep it under wraps. So the trial will be held privately and as quickly as possible."
"Yes!" Elliot huffed, finally having to reach that part. "That’s right."
Initially, Dominic’s worry was that his wife would be exposed to all these people. There were always recordings during trials as well. Hence, he didn’t want his wife’s face to be in their system forever. But seeing that smirk on her face, he quickly realized that was also Hera’s plan.
She might want to help, but only the foolish would leave her face as a trace behind.
Joker still existed, after all. Little did they know, Joker was currently deleting all their files from all the agencies at this very second.
"Okay. If that is what you want." Dominic gave in with a nod, setting his eyes on Elliot. "Whatever she wants, I support it."
"Sis, are you sure?" Axel was reluctant. "But you’re still going there with all of my lawyers!"
Hera didn’t argue while Elliot was relieved. The both of them knew that whether Hera did this or not, the Secret Society already made their arrangements. However, Elliot still needed some sort of "reason" to make everything legal.
They also knew that this wasn’t just a start for Hera, but also for many people who were led astray and are now on their way back to the right path. This might not end the corruption and power strife in the world, but at least, they knew that goodness would always prevail.
