I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1235: Thank you
Chapter 1235: Thank you
Although spending time with the children was all Hera and Dominic wanted, they knew they had to settle some matters with the elders. It was better to get it done and over with. Hence, Dominic asked his parents and Grandma Zhu to discuss important matters with them.
Ria and Lionel looked at Hera incredulously while Old Madam Zhu gazed at her with mixed emotions.
What Dominic said just now was something they didn’t expect.
"You’re going to remarry?" Ria inquired when she recovered from the shock. "So soon?"
Lionel held his wife’s hand as if to remind her it might sound rude. Their children had been distant from them, especially Axel. They were already glad that Dominic would still lend his children, despite the crack in their relationship.
"I’m sorry." Ria offered Hera an apologetic smile. "It’s just that... we’re surprised because we find it abrupt."
"It was love at first sight..." Dominic remarked cooly, unaffected by his parent’s shock. "... on her end. She’s the one who rescued me from that incident many years ago."
Incident?
The couple furrowed their brows because countless incidents had happened to their family throughout the years. But analyzing Dominic’s words, they quickly understood which incident he was referring to.
Back then, while Lionel was still negotiating and was looking for his son, Dominic had already returned home. All he said was someone helped him and pointed at the culprit, and he didn’t say a word about it again. Even now, the couple were deeply indebted to their benefactor, who saved Dominic from such terror.
And he was now saying that person was Hera?
"Hera Cruel." While the couple were processing this, Old Grandma Zhu spoke. "Is this your way of revenge on me?"
Old Madam Zhu’s inquiry confused the couple. Dominic only introduced her as Hera, but it seemed Grandma Zhu already knew her. Moreover, what did Old Madam Zhu mean by that "revenge?"
"Grandma, are you being hostile towards my bride-to-be?" Dominic frowned.
Old Grandma Zhu frowned as well. "And what if I am, Dom?"
"I told you, Donnabella." Hera smirked. "Once my problems are over, I’ll sweep your grandson off of his feet."
This time, the couple’s breath hitched. Did Hera just address Old Madam Zhu by her name? Ria and Lionel couldn’t help but shift their wide eyes at their soon-to-be daughter-in-law. For some reason, they were intimidated and a little scared.
It wasn’t like they would stop the wedding because it was Dominic’s decision. However, for them, this was too early to remarry and, most importantly, the children! They had to give the children some time, especially Sebastian, to accept the divorce.
"What about the children?" Old Madam Zhu inquired, ignoring Hera’s remarks. She shifted her eyes to Dominic, waiting for a proper answer. "It’s already a shock to us about your sudden divorce. Hadn’t you thought of explaining it to the children?"
"Miracle is too young to understand the situation, but I’ve already explained everything to Basti," Dominic automatically replied. His tone didn’t change, as if this was simply a business discussion where he got no loss. "Basti is smart and he likes Hera, so there’s no problem with that."
Ria and Lionel looked at each other. "Are you sure?"
When did Dominic get the time to introduce Hera to his son? Aside from Dominic’s schedule, Sebastian had always been with them or in his father’s villa.
"If you don’t believe me, then you can see for yourself. As for my ex-wife, I already told her about the situation. She gave us her best wishes," he continued in the same flat tone. "Hera and I already decided to marry as soon as possible, so with her insistence, we’re here today to let you know about that."
Let you know... meaning, he wasn’t asking for their blessings.
It might’ve sounded very rude, but at the same time, it showed his determination to remarry.
The couple went quiet again before they sighed in unison.
"If Sebastian is fine with it, then we don’t have a say in it anymore," Lionel remarked as he looked at his wife, seeing Ria nod. Ria then offered them a subtle smile.
"It’s a surprise, but I also wish the two of you the best."
Old Madam Zhu didn’t comment, but her lack of opinion only meant she also wasn’t here to intercept. Although she had second thoughts about Hera, she trusted Dominic wouldn’t marry her out of the blue if he hadn’t known her. After all, this involved the children and Dominic wouldn’t put his children at risk.
"If that is all, then I’ll resign to bed." Old Madam Zhu rang the bell to call for Butler Fu. But just as she did, Dominic spoke again.
"No, that’s not all, Grandma."
Everyone once again shifted their attention to Dominic. This time, Dominic leaned forward and rested his arms on his legs.
"I’m going to retire."
For a moment, the room fell into silence as if they were all doubtful if they heard correctly.
"But because I just started my term, I plan to... kill myself," Dominic said those words so casually that no one couldn’t find their voice immediately. "Please cry at my funeral."
"..."
Hera bit her tongue, knowing she wasn’t in the place to correct him on how to tell things to others. Surely, the couple shared the same brainwave. They believed dropping the bomb without suspense was much better than dropping it after creating suspense.
"That is all. Hera and I will move away from here and I will continue to do my job as the minister until the day I die. You may visit us anytime, but please, don’t schedule it in the first year of our marriage. My wife and I will be too busy and we don’t want to be disturbed," Dominic took the opportunity to say his piece before they recovered.
"Anyway, it was a long day for us and we’d like to spend the evening with Basti." Dominic lowered his head politely before he cast Hera a look. "We’re done here. Let’s go. Basti is waiting."
"Oh." Hera nodded and rose from her seat. She also bowed to pay respect to the elders and followed Dominic. But just as before they walked past Old Madam Zhu, Hera slipped her hand inside her jacket and handed a folded paper to Old Madam Zhu.
Old Madam Zhu furrowed her brows and looked up at her, only to see the same genuine smile Hera showed during their first meeting.
"I thought you might want to visit her," said Hera quietly and politely. "This is where she rests."
Old Madam Zhu knitted her brows and took the piece of paper in confusion. After that, Hera resumed her steps to reunite with Sebastian. As they did, Old Madam Zhu opened the piece of paper that had a small sketch and a written address of where Felice’s rest.
Her wrinkly eyes softened as her lips curled up. Her initial shock about this abrupt wedding took a turn of appreciation.
Old Madam Zhu looked back at the exit and smiled. "Thank you."
