Lillian pinched the handle of her mug, stroking it with the back of her fingers before wrapping them around it. She raised the rim to her lips and drank. Once she had done that, she set it aside and asked the blonde-haired woman:

"If I recall correctly, it has been... 8 years or so?" Her voice filled with uncertainty as her eyes scanned the woman for confirmation.

Beatrice nodded, her lips curling up at Lillian's question. "Yes... I'm glad you were able to remember that much, at least." She then froze and waited.

Lillian stared at the Student President's lips, waiting for a certain "Phrase"... Fortunately for the woman, it didn't arrive.

Beatrice sighed in subtle relief and added, "What have you been up to in those past years? Last I remember, you could hardly take care of yourself outside of appearances."

The corner of Lillian's lips twitched, irritated but unable to rebut her words. Beatrice was, after all, correct. If she were to go through her memories, the "past" Lillian was, in the sense, lazy.

However, when it came to making herself look good, she was energetic.

Lillian wrapped her fingers under her chin. Her other self, Melissa, too, was a lazy person. But one of more diligence and hard work...

As she thought more about this, her eyes suddenly sparked in realisation. She finally knew the reason for her sudden paralysing laziness over the past couple of months.

Although both Lillian and Melissa had been fused together, Melissa had more of an effect on her personality at the beginning of her transmigration.

As she continued to live her new life, "Lillian's" laziness melded with Melissa's laziness. This must've been the cause of her stagnation in motivation.

"—Lillian..."

Even though her theory was rough around the edges, it was also logical. And if it was logical, it must mean that some parts of it were correct. And if it was correct... Melissa's diligence must be taking more of an effect again.

Her forehead wrinkled, her brows furrowed. She clutched the right side of her head with her right hand. She felt annoyed, and her brain hurt a little.

'It doesn't make any sense when I continue to think about it... Both Lillian 's and my old self's personality should be combined. Having "personality swings" wouldn't make sense... Would it...?'

While she was deep in her thought, Beatrice tapped her fingers on the table, waiting for the white-haired girl to finish her excruciatingly long thought.

And as she was doing this, she chanted her name, each having no effect on waking her up. So, she called out her name in varying pitches for fun.

Eventually, Lillian woke up. But that was in the middle of...

"—LilLiAn- *Cough Cough*!"

... A humiliating voice-crack.

Lillian stared at her weirdly, watching as the woman took a sip of her black coffee to drink down her coughs. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Are you alright?" She asked, slightly concerned at how Beatrice started coughing randomly.

Beatrice set her mug on a small plate before pushing aside with the back of her fingers. She gave the Rabbit a nod, easing her worry, and asked:

"I should be asking you that... Did something I say spark something inside your head of something... You know?" Beatrice asked, "Did something bad happen with your family or something?"

"Wha? N-no... Well... I don't think so..." Lillian then waved her hand dismissively, "If something bad happened, it would no doubt be on the news."

"Then—..."

"Nothing much happened over the 8 years." Lillian chimed, shaking her head, "The only exciting thing that happened was at the start of this year."

"Oh~? The Entrance Exam was most definitely an exciting event... You know...?" Beatrice nodded in an understanding manner.

Lillian smiled, "I guess it was..." She moved her mug, which she had placed to the side, in front of her. She stared down at the surface of her coffee, her eyes glancing at the foam on the inner walls of the mug.

"But that wasn't what I meant by exciting."

"That's surprising. What else happened?" Beatrice leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table and resting her chin in her hands.

Lillian's eyes shone with an affectionate, warm light.

"I met someone special." She then grinned and muttered, "You know~?"

Beatrice's face twitched at her phrase at the end, finding it to be a playful jab at her. She ignored it and instead focused on what she had said before.

"Someone special?"

Lillian nodded, leaning back into her chair, and folded her arms. She stared up at the ceiling as the front two legs of her wooden chair were raised slightly from the ground.

"Marionette Von Roselle... That's my special someone."

Beatrice's lips curled into a proud and teasing smile, "Special~, huh? My~ oh~ my~ Lillian... Going after the heir of such a prestigious and dangerous family~... You've got a lot bolder over the years... Ambitious too. And to think you'd lie about you two being friends."

Lillian swung her arms over the backrest of her chair, turning her face to the side that had a slight blush, "It was her fault that she's so likeable... Not mine. And we are still friends..."

Beatrice raised an eyebrow, "Seriously? You made it sound like you two are dating. Now that I think about it... With what I've seen back in that classroom of yours, you really act like her girlfriend around her."

"W-wha—how!?" Lillian asked in an incredulous manner as her eyes widened.

Does she actually act like Marionette's girlfriend? Wait... How would one act like someone's girlfriend? Don't they just have to look like they are really close with that person?

Beatrice shrugged with a teasing glint in her eyes, "Not sure. It's just this aura around you two, you know?"

"That... Doesn't give me anything at all..." She said, staring at her with a deadpan expression.

She watched as Beatrice shrugged again and sighed. She then heard her ask:

"Anyway... Are you planning on making her yours anytime soon?" Beatrice tilted her head in her hands, her teasing smirk causing the blush on Lillian's face to grow more apparent.

However, to make herself seem more confident in her answer, she straightened her voice and answered with:

"Bah! She's already mine. I have no idea what you mean."

Beatrice blinked at her before...

"Pfft..."

... Laughing.

Lillian's face twitched as she pulled the chair down, making it so all four legs were on the ground now.

"What's so funny about my answer?"

"Nothing~... Nothing." Beatrice waved her hand, calming down the flustered Lillian before adding, "I just meant... When are you going to ask her out? You said you two are friends... But from the way your voice acts on the topic of her, you should definitely take it to the next level already..."

Lillian rested her left arm on the table while raising her right hand and twirling her white-hair.

"Like... Soon?"

Beatrice shrugged, "I'm not sure how close you two are. If you guys only met 3 months ago, then maybe it's too soon. But that's my opinion. If your chemistry with one another is strong enough, doing it soon is definitely a win."

Lillian stared at her silently before sighing. She had a point, if she did it soon, that could open a lot more doors, even though there weren't any "doors" for them to open since they seemed to have skipped quite a few steps.

She leaned back into her chair, rocking on it again. As she was doing it... She felt it shake and creak a bit.

Beatrice watched as Lillian rocked in her chair and said, "You might want to stop that before you hurt yourself... These aren't really the right chairs for it."

Lillian stared down at the chair, wondering how correct she was. She shouldn't be playing around on a chair that looked as though it had been broken several times.

She then glanced down at her neck, glimpsing at the chain of her "Lucky" necklace. She frowned a bit before nodding at the Student President.

"Yeah... You are right..."

C-crack...!

However, just as she was about to drop the front legs back onto the ground, the two back legs suddenly snapped under the weight. Her eyes shot wide open as she fell down.

She instinctively closed her eyes and arms behind her to catch her fall. But as soon as she closed her eyes, a flicker of erratic light appeared.

She felt herself fall, but then felt something wrap around her arm and onto her back. Feeling that there wasn't any pain, she sceptically opened her eyes.

She was instantly met with the Student President's face, who stared down at her scoldingly, "I told you, you know?"

With her arm around Lillian's back, she dragged her back to her feet. However, as she was doing this, she looked over the girl's shoulder, finding something sticking out from her shadow.

It looked to be an arm with its hands stretched out. Almost as though it were there to keep Lillian's back from hitting the ground. It soon sank back into the Rabbit's shadow, disappearing without a trace.

Beatrice blinked before smirking at Lillian, who thanked her for catching her.
