Chapter 245: The Grand Martial Arts Tournament About to Begin!

The rise of the sun brought alongside a bright light that illuminated the world and prompted many who were asleep to rise from their bed.

But that wasn't all, it made many anxious, hopeful, excited, even fearful because of what it meant after the sun had risen.

It was a new day but not like any other before it.

Today was the opening day of one of the greatest events in the Southern Continent and even the entire Mortal Emperor Realm.

Today was the grand opening of the Grand Martial Arts Tournament!

The whole continent was excited. This is one of the greatest events held in the continent. It's significant was very great and many had rushed to the capital to watch the tournament.

The significance of the tournament was not just on deciding the most talented genius cultivator of the younger generation.

Rather, the greatest significance of it was the fact that once again, the southern continent will be facing off against the other geniuses of the four other continents!

This was an exciting thing for these young and arrogant geniuses that haven't seen much of the world.

From a child, they had heard all about how the other continents are stronger than they are. They have long since been itching to test if that was true in this generation.

Amongst these, there are those who believe in the stories of their elders and accept the superiority of the other continents.

But there are even more who won't believe it until they see it!

At this time, a horn was blown and everyone in the continent heard it.

"Oh my God it's about to begin!"

"The grandest event of the Southern Continent and all of the mortal emperor realm!"

"Right, I heard you know someone who is participating in the tournament, that's interesting."

"Yes, of course I do know someone. And I don't just know him, he is my elder brother!"

"Wow really, you are related to such a genius?!"

Many around the fellow were surprised, because not just anyone would receive the invitation to join and participate in the Grand Martial Arts Tournament.

"Sorry, my brother is an introvert but he does have his strength. Although I can't say that my brother is a great genius."

"What do you mean? Being able to participate in the grand martial arts tournament is a dream come true for many cultivators of our generation!"

"Hey, I think what he is saying is right, as even among geniuses there are mountains above mountains," someone commented while stroking an invisible beard.

Just then the voice of an old man's scolding was heard.

"Lin Tian you brat! So here you are and you are even imitating my words so superfluously!"

The youth who was pretending to sound like a sage immediately became alarmed.

"Ah Master, your disciple was only trying to spread the wise words that you have so freely granted to me in your righteousness as my teacher."

"Tch! This flattery of yours won't get you anywhere, now hurry and go submit your invitation for the tournament, the elimination round starts today!"

The youth nodded obediently and quickly used an advanced movement technique, causing dust to rise as he left a word.

"You guys can come watch my battles!"

The other youths were dumbfounded with the development of things as they looked back and forth between the dignified old man whose beard and long were whiter than wool, and the young man who ran off.

The man noticed their gaze but said nothing and disappeared from their midst like a mirage.

"Oh my God we met an expert!"

"And a genius!"

"Indeed but what a weird guy. He stood here rambling with us like a regular person."

"Indeed, I have heard that geniuses have their quirks too."

*Gong!*

"Hey, they are about to start, let's hurry!"

"Wait for me! I don't want to miss any action either!"

______________

"Prince Cedric, the elimination round is about to start will you be watching?" A beautiful young woman said to the handsome young man whose arms she layed.

"What does the games of amateurs have to do with me? I'd rather spend time with you my love," The young man giggled.

He had black and red hair that were styled into dreadlocks which he did because he wanted to look different from his twin brother.

Red hair was almost a signature hair colour for the Heartfield Royal Family, but that is not always the case.

Most of the direct descendants of the royal get the red hair when they awaken their Martial spirits.

But sometimes they can awaken a mutated variant of their inherited Martial spirit and in very rare occasions awaken twin Martial spirits.

Prince Cedric was one of such geniuses in that both he and his twin brother awakened variants of their inherited Martial spirits and both were pretty high-level.

While Cedric calmly enjoyed the atmosphere a criticizing voice was heard in the hall.

"So this is where you were little brother? Enjoying the times with your concubine?"

Another voice that sounded panicked was heard after this, "I'm sorry Prince Cedric, I couldn't stop him from entering!"

Prince Cedric's smile seized immediately as his eyes turned cold. The girl beside him slightly frowned but held back her displeasure.

She was the last child of a Marquis and had some identity but she won't say anything here and moreover, she wasn't one to talk much.

Besides, she trusts that her love will defend her, and

right on qué, Cedric finishes the wine in his hand and stands up.

"Say that again, Xavier."

"Oh what? About you being my little brother?" Prince Xavier smirked.

He knew too well about this twin brother of his. Although they were different in terms of personalities, everything else was alike.

Same face, same hair colour same everything.

They both understood each other the best, just as Xavier knew that Cedric hated being called the younger brother even if Xavier came out a few seconds before him.

But today, he didn't get angry over and got angry over the young lady sitting beside him.

Cedric stared coldly at his brother and the atmosphere became tense as his aura began to slowly rise.

Just then a hand touched him and tugged at his clothes as the young lady shook her head.

Cedric slightly calmed down and said, "Speak, why are you here?"

Prince Xavier shook his head, "Sigh, I thought we would actually have a warm up ahead of the upcoming battles. What a shame."

"Don't worry, you'll get the beating you deserve sooner or later," Cedric sneered.

Prince Xavier didn't retort and instead spoke of why he came, "Father wants to see us, immediately."

Both their gazes instantly became serious at the mention of their father.

"I understand. let's go," Cedric nodded thoughtfully as he could slightly guess the reason.

He turned to the girl, "Clara, we'll have to meet some other time. You know how my old man is," he smiled slightly.

"Sure, I'll wait for your return," She smiled reassuringly.

"Ha, all these dramas. Let's get going already," Xavier spoiled the mood with one comment as Clara rolled her eyes.

Cedric only scoffed and then left with his brother.

On another side of the Heartfield Royal Capital City, a discreet meeting was held between a mother and her son.

"Kalius, although you are the oldest and your cultivation is the highest you must still be wary of the others."

"Yes, mother. I'll do as you have said. But mother you don't need to be worried, okay?" The young man smiled gently as he held the hand of the woman on the bed.

The woman who looked to be in her eighties was only less than fifty years old. But due to an incident he became like this.

"Mother don't worry, although I don't care for that useless crown, I'll be sure to win this tournament!"

"I believe you," the woman said gently with so much trust in her voice.

Kalius eyes became slightly watery but he held back strongly and remained silent.

The woman sensed this and places her other hand above his.

"Kalius, I know you bear resentment with the emperor but please do not take any action I would not like to see, okay."

Kalius grit his teeth and replied, "Yes, mother."

"You have always been an obedient child and since the passing of your father, you have been filial all through. It is my wish to see you make your mark in the Martial Emperor Secret Realm."

"All those years one of your father and my greatest regrets is that we weren't strong enough back then. But you my son have far surpassed us in terms of talent."

Kalius listened quietly.

"I know you like staying low key, and it is good. But don't hold back too much and make your father smile from the afterlife. You know he was a cultivation manic just like you and only cared about cultivation, it was hard to get into his heart back then and..."

She went on to ramble on a story that Prince Kalius had literally heard countless times but his expression was one of interest as though he was hearing an amazing story for the first.

But his thoughts..."Don't worry mother, I will trample on them all beneath my feet. Even him too one day. I'll never forgive him!"

Asides from these, another more discreet but a bit sinister meeting was being held.

"So all he had to do is to enter the pool?"

"Do not worry, can't you trust me? Prince Julius will be fine. After all he is about to received a baptisms of fire that many never dared to dream of!"
