Infinite Wealth System: Crazy Tasks, Insane Rewards!-Chapter 36: New Plan
Chapter 36: New Plan
Sofia finally got home after ghosting the world for two days. After the clash at Silverhorn Lounge, she lodged in a hotel somewhere quite far from Cloudbridge, dealing with the unforgiving pain that slammed her heart.
It only took two days before her time ran out, and she no longer had enough to extend her stay there.
Thus, she had to go home.
"Sofia," Lynna rushed to her daughter, who was visibly shuffling toward the door with a completely faint look.
"Sofia... What happened? I have been calling your phone, but it was switched off. I also tried calling Mia, but he wasn’t picking up," Lynna said worriedly, staring in confusion.
She didn’t know what was wrong with her sweet daughter, and her mind was quite far from what had really happened.
"Talk to me, Sofia. What happened?" Lynna grew wary, coming to the realization that this wasn’t just a mere case.
Sofia remained silent, her face pale, looking like someone who had lost a lot of blood. Weak.
Seeing that her daughter wasn’t going to say a word, she helped her into the house while holding her arms.
The next thing Lynna saw was Sofia lying down to sleep on the couch immediately after she helped her there.
Something is wrong.
At this point, her fear grew, more heightened than before. Several thoughts began to flow through Lynna’s mind, and it was already looking as if she was being affected by her daughter’s sudden mood.
Though curious, she waited patiently for her daughter to wake up. It felt like forever before Sofia woke up, only for Lynna to see that she had only slept for just three hours.
She was just too impatient and curious to hear whatever had happened to Sofia. And if it was really something that would affect their financial goal, Lynna knew she’d be cooked.
"Hey, princess..." Lynna quickly approached her daughter immediately after she woke up.
"What’s wrong? Your mood was very bad," Lynna asked softly, stroking Sofia’s hair.
"What about Royce? Shouldn’t he be here with you since you’re not feeling okay? Mia too—she hasn’t been picking..."
"Mom," Sofia suddenly cut in.
"My princess... What happened?" Lynna swallowed hard, the pressure rising.
"Royce and Mia. They betrayed me," Sofia said with a breaking voice, then suddenly broke down in tears, sobbing hard.
"What... What do you mean, Sofia?" Lynna’s face suddenly turned dark, her eyes widening.
"I... I caught..." Sofia stammered repeatedly, the urge to cry preventing her from speaking clearly.
"Come on, Sofia. Just talk to me," Lynna said, her tone suddenly changing from bold to dull.
"I caught Royce and Mia making out. He cheated on me," Sofia finally voiced. "They even humiliated me there, and Royce told me he is no longer interested."
Lynna froze.
Her jaw dropped at once, and her grip on her daughter’s arms weakened.
"Oh my God... We are screwed," Lynna stood up and bit her fingers, her face dark.
"We are screwed," she repeated, clenching her fist.
"Mia... I never thought she could do this to me. She betrayed me," Sofia cried.
Lynna became speechless, as a wave of thoughts came crashing through her brain.
All our plans. Everything we planned. freēwēbnovel.com
They are all screwed. She didn’t even get a dime out of him. Gosh! I’m fucked!
Despite Sofia’s grief, Lynna just couldn’t concentrate on her daughter’s pain, as she went straight into thinking—figuring out a way out of this mess.
She had just lost the opportunity to get a job in Jayden’s new company because of her arrogance and pride, and now that her daughter was no longer with Royce, there was no hope.
Their plan was actually to dig some big money from Royce—not that Sofia really liked that rascal. Lynna had been the manager of their plot; she was even the one who advised Sofia to leave Jayden.
Now...
Just within two weeks, Royce left her?
Lynna almost broke down in tears as well.
Her hope of getting the money to pay her debts was suddenly gone. Sofia had told her that Royce had promised to give her two million dollars today, and now this was happening?
She couldn’t be any more disappointed, but the most crucial factor now was the fact that she’d be facing the consequences of her debts.
She had failed her try.
And Sofia had failed too.
"I will not give up," Lynna muttered to herself.
"Hey, get yourself together, sweetie. I have a plan. A good plan," Lynna grabbed Sofia’s arms and said.
"Look at me... Look here," Lynna added, and Sofia turned to look straight at her mother. "We have a way out of this mess. Trust me."
Sofia didn’t respond. She was already staring like a statue, her face still as pale as the sick.
"It’s not too late. You can go back to Jayden," Lynna said.
"What?!" Sofia’s eyes widened. "No, Mom. He wouldn’t even spare me a glance."
Sofia swiftly declined. There was no way she was going to gather the courage to meet up with Jayden again.
"Come on, girl. Can’t you see? He is now rich. He was the one who bought Zintech Automobile Company. I went there to apply for a job... He now has a supercar. He’s really rich. You just have to find a way back to him. You can’t afford to lose him," Lynna persuaded, caressing Sofia’s skin.
"But Mom... I don’t think he would have me back. I humiliated him together with his greatest enemies. He would never forgive me," Sofia complained, clearly feeling the waves of uncertainty.
"Don’t say that, Sofia. Not even without a try. Jayden has got no family left. He would surely accept you back if you can try to impress him again. You’ve got this, Sofia. I trust you," Lynna said, her tone reassuring.
Sofia just couldn’t give herself another choice, even though she knew she was about to carry out an almost impossible task.
She was really left with no other choice.
All this was a desperate strive to secure a good future for them, and her mother hadn’t taken it lightly.
She would always tell Sofia...
"To be a successful woman, you have to start from being a gold-digger!"
...
Later on, Lynna went to make dinner for her depressed daughter after their conversation, trying to help her with enough energy to think about her next move.
As someone who wanted the best for her daughter, she could practically do anything in her power.
Though it felt like they had failed, they were definitely ready to strike again.
Just then, while she was in the process, a message came up on her phone.
Lynna only let out a simple, soft sigh, like she already knew what the message was about before checking it.
Of course, she knew...
She was already used to the warning messages from the loan bank.
Picking up her phone, she read the message with a clear look of disdain.
{Vintage Microfinance Bank: Hello, Mrs. Lynna Hartley. This message is to warn you about your $900,000 loan. You are urged to pay up within three days, or the consequences might result in an arrest.}
Lynna dropped the phone to the side, clenching her teeth, frustrated.
She knew she had to do something.
